Yes, I was said to see Kae go too, but I think she has a BIG chance of winning the 100K.< Did anyone see the Larry King with the previous Biggest Loser on? They had Matt on with his wife and new baby, anyhow, Larry asked how they lose so much weight. They explained that they work out for 6 hours a day on the show. Exercise is their job. When they go home, they have family, jobs, etc and can no longer work out like that and that is why they don't lose as fast and many gain back their weight. Matt had gained quite a bit, but still looked good. And his wife Susie (who he met on the show and she was 3rd place winner), she had gained too, but she just had a baby. She still looked good too. I wish I could have a personal trainer to work my butt off like that. I just love seeing everyones transformation. Kae looked beautiful.

So far, I don't have any. I have had 1 PB and it was on a roll (I normally avoid bread, but splurged). Since then, I've eaten bread again and have had no problems. I keep thinking I need to be tighter since I don't have any problem foods. Maybe I'm just lucky. Not sure.

For those six months after band surgery
tonya66 replied to WASaBubbleButt's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am 10 months out and have not lost any hair, at least I don't think I have. If I have, it was very small that I haven't noticed. I have really thick hair and usually have it thinned out when I go get it cut. However, something WEIRD happened to me, at about 5 to 6 months, I did get dermatitus on my scalp. My dermatologist said sometime people get this after surgery or because of stress. It finally went away after weeks of trying different things, but it was nerve wracking because it made my head itch like no other. I figured for sure I would lose some hair because I've had 7 surgeries in the past 3 years, but so far no hair loss, knock on wood. -
I forgot to add - my heartburn, completly gone now....I don't have to sleep sitting up any longer! Lap Band has brought new meaning to the bedroom now. lol

last November, 2006, I started my journey just like many of you. I had my fears "will this work", "should I do this", "will this be another diet failure" etc etc etc. I was banded January 18, 2007. I started off with high cholesteral, bad lower back problems, border line diabetic, severe sleep apnea, snored like a freight train, I was busting out of all my clothes, I was tired, I was miserable, my face was puffy and really looked, weird? Fast forward - Its now 10 months later and No more high cholesteral, it was 146 - perfect Back Problems - very minimal, if any Diabetic - blood sugar tested 95 - perfect Sever sleep apnea - my Cpap machine was lowered from 13 to 8, so almost over it, doc thinks another 20 lbs and I will lose the machine! Snoring - NOPE Busting out of my clothes - NOPE, keep getting smaller and smaller ones, wearing a size 11 jr. jeans today to work, but can wear a 10 Tired - Nope, full of energy now Face puffy - not any longer, I hardly recognize myself. I actually take a double look at myself in the mirror sometimes. Point I wanted to make, I have been there, I know what your feeling and the doubts you are having. And yes, you can do this and you will do this! Follow the band rules and you will be successful and most, if not all the medical conditions slowly disappear and you regain your life back!

Happy Monday, and I'm glad I have short week at work this week. I'm off on Thursday & Friday, and only work 1/2 day on Wednesday. Well, this morning my boss made a homemade itallian cream cake (one of my favorites), so, I had a small piece of it. I wanted more, but I wouldn't let myself indulge any more. I really want to reach my doc's goal weight for me by my 1 year anniversary - so I need to eat right! I need to lose 12 more pounds in the next 2 months in order to reach it. It will be hard, because I only lost 3 lbs this month. But, I'm hoping to be able to start exercising pretty soon and that will help. Today's menu Bfast 1 cup coffee with s/f carmel cream 1 2x2" cake - BAD Lunch 3/4 cup of turkey salad Dinner Baked turkey broccoli Suppliments - Quickslim30, 2 chewable flinstones Exercise - 20 min on recumbant bike, 3 sets of squats against the stability ball/wall (my Physical therapy session) total gym.

I'm staying on plan today because I didn't the past few days. -
I get the same noises. I'm sipping coffee this morning and I can hear it gurgling. Its sometimes embarrassing. I think that is a part of life now with the Band.

Its hard to be focussed during this time of the year, but you can do it. Get back to the basics of banding, pull out the 'ole rules and read up. It really helped me to get back on track. And don't beat yourself up, just know that just because you are not losing weight everyday, doesn't mean you are not getting healthier everyday. Keep trying, this is not an easy road, but you can do it!

I will be glad when these holidays are over! Everyone keeps bringing all kinds of goodies to work. grrrrrrr. I am scheduled for a fill tomorrow, and I was going to cancel it, but I think I am going to go ahead and get a very small fill. I think I only need a half of cc or .1 cc, very small amount. I have restriction, and I don't have any problems right now, but I think I might need just a tad little bit more. My Menu today: Bfast - Coffee, oatmeal Lunch Turkey salad Dinner Baked fish green beans Supplements - 1 Quickslim30, 2 flinstones Exercise - 20 min recumbant bike

Missy, I was doing the same thing, gaining the same 5 lbs. Here is what I did: 1) Got a fill, I realized I was eating more than I should and more often - Only get a fill if this is the case for you. If you feel you are getting hungry before 3 or 4 hours, and if you are onsuming more than 3 oz of Protein and 1/2 cup of veggies, time for a fill. 2) I got back to the basics, I pulled out my "Band Rules" and started following them again - no, its not easy, but I remembered "Why" I got the band and my goals have not changed. I want to be healthy so in order to do that, I needed to get back to the band rules. You can do it! And just bacause you slip a few times, doesn't mean its over, jump back on the Bandwagon and start following the rules. Best Wishes to you!

Do you ever get frustrated with band babies?
tonya66 replied to TamifromAL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes yes yes, thats what I'm talking about. Why is the doctor giving them surgery if they cannot stay on the plan? These things need to be discussed BEFORE surgery, not after! Yes, I totally agree! -
Do you ever get frustrated with band babies?
tonya66 replied to TamifromAL's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
To add to my post, I think there are a lot of questions that may seem silly to some, but to newbies, they feel more comfortable asking us on the board, instead of their doctor. Or their doctor answers in such big long medical terms, they really don't understand etc. So questions and such really don't bother me, its when people, new or old, eat what they know they shouldn't then blame the band. I'm not saying we all don't make mistakes and eat things we shouldn'g, LORD knows I have, plenty of times, However, I blame myself, not the band. The band works for me if I follow the rules. The rules are not easy to follow, but if you follow them, success will come, or should come unless there are other medical reasons. I try and help people with questions, sometimes others might have better insight. The point is, the band is a learning process, we all have to deal with it in our own way, but the rules are the same. The company who produces the band has a list of them as well, I read them and have them posted on my refridge. When I am not losing, its 99% of the time because I'm not following all the band rules. One of the rules is 30 min a day of exercise. -

What amazes me is when people get the band and then say "I am not losing weight, or the Band is not working". Well, what do you eat? "Well, I still eat ice cream and Cookies, but the band doesn't stop me from eating these things, the band is not working." Okay - here is a tip EVERYONE please understand the Band is a tool and nothing more than a tool. It will "help" you, but it won't do all the work for you. Everyone will feel restriction at different levels, you may feel it at 1.0 cc's and others won't until their 4.0cc' (depending on what type of band you have). Okay, 2nd. Read all the info about the band BEFORE surgery, understand, soft foods, like ice cream, will go completely thru the band. Okay, I'm off of my soap box now. I do think the Dr.'s are failing to educate their patients if a patient goes into getting the band and does not understand. My dr. made me take a test before he would give me the band to make sure I understood how it works, what to eat and what not to eat. etc. Best wishes to everyone. -

Okay, my weightloss has really slowed down, I weighed 167 this morning. I've only lost 3 lbs this past month, but thats okay, I lost right? I didnt gain. And 3 lbs is making a BIG difference in my size. Peaple are noticing every pound I lose now. Before it took 50 lbs before people started noticing. Inches are falling off quicker than the weight. I'm okay with that too. Here is how my weight has gone: Highest weight - 248 1 mo post op - 206.8 2 mo post op - 198 3 mo post op - 193 4 mo post op - 184.2 5 mo post op - 178 6 mo post op - 174 7 mo post op - 178 8 mo post op - 174 9 mo post op - 170 10 mo post op- 167 -
Will I ever be the same again?
tonya66 commented on tonya66's blog entry in Sunshine2's (Tonya's) Journal
Thanks guys for your words. I'm hoping to try some water aerobics Monday night and see how I do. -
Okay, since my accident, exercise has been pretty much slim pickens'. As I stated in my earlier post, my knee has really flared up again. So I go to my therapist today for my PT, and they took it easy on me because I had a lot of swelling. They ordered me off my knee all weekend. I wish I could exercise. I'm ready to start another BFL challenge, I know I can do wonders with another challenge. I really miss exercise. I feel like my life is in limbo, I know I can shed these last 20 lbs if I could only kick some butt at the gym. Its just so frustrating. I keep having setbacks with this darn knee. I'm wondering if this is going to be a life long challenge for me, will I ever be able exercise? Will I ever be the same again? I'm ready to do some dumbbell lunges, to work my booty, I'm ready to do some squats, some hard core cardio, I'm ready to sweat. I just feel so much better about myself when I have exercised. Okay, just venting today. Sorry if anyone reads and It such a downer. I am just discouraged about my set back. grrrrr. Okay, todays menu: Bfast - had some iced coffee from McD's. Just wasn't hungry after drinking it. Lunch - ate a breakfast burrito, without the flour tortia. Just the eggs out of it, good. Dinner - grilled chicken (3 oz or less probably) and salad Suppliments - Quickslim 30, 2 flinstones. Exercise - not much, did only 10 min on recumbant bike. Taking it easy to help the knee heal.
