Hey all, just checking in. Life has been hectic but trying to keep control. I was so frusterated at my DH last night, I took it out on the eliptical machine! I told him he needs to make me mad everyday so I can take my frustration out in the gym. lol. I am so ready for my fill, and so frustrated too. Seems I am tighter one day, then wide open the next. I just don't know what to do. Jen - my port is doing the same thing, it is starting to flip, the doc says the same thing that it is because I've lost so much weight. It hasn't completely flipped yet, but it is laying on its side and he can still give me fills. I hope your pain goes away soon. Well, I just wanted to check in with everyone because I haven't been here in a week or so. Talk to everyone later.

I am finally going down on the scales - being off the prednisone (steroids) makes a huge difference I think. Maybe getting back to the gym makes a difference too!:grouphug: Shawn - I feel the same way as you. I really don't know if I have restriction or not. I do eat less, a lot less, but I can eat anything? I'm going to talk to my doctor about it.

Hello everyone - eating has been great all week. I'm so happy. It's weird, but I might not even need a fill? I was starving last night about midnight, so I decided I would make me 1/2 sandwhich with turkey and whole wheat bread and no mayo. Well, I could only eat 1/2 of it and was stuffed. I can eat whatever I want but just small amounts of it - seems I've gotten tighter. If I do get a fill, I'm going to ask the doc just to add .1 cc in it. He always takes all my fill out, then adds more, but I wish he would just leave my current fill in, and just add a little. Does everyone elses doc continually take the fills out? Everyone says - or maybe not everyone, but a lot of people say if you can eat bread your not tight enough, wonder if that is true? I can certainly eat bread, steak, I had a little apple today, no problems with PBing at all.

I made it to the gym last night! Yay! Now, I've gotta keep doing it!
-
ooooh, ps - Angyl, you look GREAT! Mommi-hammi - how is the tummy tuck going? I can't wait to see some pics of the new body you have!

BabyG- I haven't ever gone 6 mos without getting a fill. I'm getting fills/unfills it seems about every 6 weeks. grrrrr. I do notice the fills for me get tighter after 3 weeks. Mine is not too tight though, but i have more restriction. I don't PB or anything. I don't think PBing everyday is a good thing, maybe you should get a slight unfill. I weighed this morning and the scale is finally moving down! I'm back into the 170's after a long battle with the 180's. Bye bye 180's and I truly hope I NEVER see you again! I did make it to the gym, didn't have a real hard workout, but it felt good just to be inside the gym again.

I'm staying on plan today because the scale is moving down again and I like it. -
Hello gang, still plugging along. My fill seems a bit tighter, however, not tight enough. Eating is okay, but not the best. Exercise has been none, but DH & I are heading to the gym after work. I haven't weighed in a few days, will probably weigh tomorrow - talk to everyone later.

Good job Val!

EAting has been okay, not too bad, but not 100% perfect either. My exercise has been BAD. I am planning on making it to the gym tonight, so we'll see. I didn't weigh, I was supposed to weigh this morning, but completly forgot. I was running late this morning to work, so just didn't think about it. Will update later on whether I made it to the gym or not.

I'm a little over 3 weeks out from my last fill, and I notice my fill is tighter. I think I still need a bit more, but I at least have some restriction. I'm losing the wieght that I gained. I'm eating clean - and I've got my gym bag packed. I've had a lot going on, so not sure if I will be online much over the weekend and next week. I have my mom in the hospital, not sure what going on with her, and my DH mom also went into the hospital, but they figured out it was her gallbladder and she had it removed and on her way home now. So needless to say, I've been at the hospital the past few days and since my mom is still there, I'll probably be hanging out with her. I have made a few bad choices while at the hospital (fast food), but not that bad. I had some breaded chicken, but tried to get the breading off, but did eat some of it. My next mission, get back to the gym. My DH is paying me $1 everytime I go to the gym, I asked him to do it. It was one of the ways I read to "Motivate" yourself. At the end of the month, or by 6 weeks, If I exercise like I should, I should have enough to go get a massage. Next Friday, I'll let you know how much I made.:crying: Talk to everyone later........

Cindi, I think .1 unfill might make it perfect. You could always add .1 back in, but try it and see if it help. Angyl - congratulations on your 100 loss!!!! Awesome!

staying on my plan today, I have done pretty good with my eating this week, however, my exercise SUCKS. I've had so much going on, my remodel of my house is ongoing, almost finished but not quite. My mother went into the hospital last night for pneumonia and she is being kept because her EKG showed she had a mild heart attack at some point. Then, my mother in law was also taken to the hospital for chest pains and she is having a heart cath done right now. Needless to say, with all the hospital visits, my eating has not been planned, but I've eaten very little. I feel a little more restriction now, must be stress.

Well, it's time I re-read this myself! Thanks to you for posting in here, I got an email stating there had been a post, I had forgotten about this thread and it was just in time because I need a little motivation myself!

I'm having some problems getting back my mojo to exercise after my recent injury....so I thought I would post some tips I used before to get me motiviated - I'm hoping it will help me now! You know you've got to get moving. You resolve to park the car a few blocks from work, take the stairs, and hit the gym after work. But a few weeks pass and before you know it, parking spots start opening up right in front of the building, the elevator is already in the lobby, and you've worked late every night that week. It's not that you don't know how to get fit, you just can't seem to stay motivated. We all know people who are religious with their workouts. So, what's their secret? We asked fitness experts and regular Joes alike how they stick with their routine. These methods keep them moving; maybe one will work for you. 1. Embarrass Yourself Make a mark on your calendar every time you make it to the gym or park. Seeing your motivation (or lack thereof) in black and white helps keep you going. Suzanne Schlosberg and Liz Neporent, authors of Fitness for Dummies, Second Edition (IDG books Worldwide, Inc., 2000), suggest "whether you write your goals on the side of your shoe or in your training diary, glancing at them on a daily basis will help keep you focused and motivated. Some people tape their goals to their bathroom mirror or refrigerators." Do whatever works to make you remember what you promised yourself. 2. Join a Club That Wouldn't Have You for a Member So you're not Steffi Graf. That doesn't mean you can't join a tennis team. Richard Cotton, chief exercise physiologist for the American Council on Exercise, says "joining a club, team or finding an exercise partner ... provides a support system and someone to simply share the experience with. Often times just knowing someone will be asking you 'How's it going?' can be the difference between exercise success and failure." 3. Love Thy Neighbor and Love Thyself You can't leave a neighbor standing on the corner checking her watch. She knows where you live. Miriam Nelson, director of the Center for Physical Fitness at Tufts University and the author of Strong Women Stay Young and Strong Women Stay Slim (Bantam Doubleday Dell, 1999), says, "When I make a date with a neighbor to go for a run I keep it, and we have a great time." She also plans a regular appointment with her neighbors. "Saturday mornings several of my neighbors come over and we lift weights together; it's a great way to start the weekend," she says. 4. Challenge Yourself Working toward an event — like a 5K walk or run, or an overnight bike trip to a faraway bed and Breakfast — keeps you on track. Every time you exercise you'll be closer to meeting your goal. "The minute you mail in your entry fee, you'll have a whole new sense of purpose. And the feeling of accomplishment you get from completing your event is like nothing else," say Schlosberg and Neporent. 5. Dance, Dance, Dance "Music is a fantastic motivator," says Michael Olajide Jr., a former professional boxer and inventor of Aerobox workout routines. "It can push you to do more and to exercise longer, even longer than you planned." Who doesn't get a surge of energy every time they hear their favorite tune? Plus, it's the perfect excuse to get that new CD. 6. Don't Count the Miles "Do not work out to burn calories or lose weight," says Emme, plus-size model, author and columnist. "There are more important things than burning calories taking place during your workout. Newfound self-esteem and stress reduction are just two positive aspects of many that come to mind." If you're always focusing on burning off your morning doughnut, of course exercise seems like a chore. Try exercising for the sake of your health, not your body. 7. Find the Fun Forget about the "no pain, no gain" attitude. "The mind, body and soul connection is very important here, don't forget to have fun," says Emme. Pick an activity you've always loved, like biking or walking outdoors. The more enjoyable it is, the more likely you'll stick with it. 8. Make It a Family Affair "When I go for a run I entice one of my kids to go with me — he or she goes on their bike and I run. It's a great way to be together with my kids," says Miriam Nelson. Who better to egg you on than the ones who love you best! 9. Learn to Love Lycra "Buying snazzy new workout shorts or comfy new cross-trainers can really get you fired up to work out, " say Schlosberg and Neporent. Once you realize how much better the right equipment makes a workout, you'll be loving your sports bra as much as soccer star Brandi Chastain. 10. Dive for Dollars Money is the ultimate motivator. Put a dollar in a jar every time you make it to the gym. At the end of a month, treat yourself to a massage. You'll be at the gym more often than the trainers. 11. It's About Time "My mood motivates me to work out, so timing is everything," says Kathy Kaehler, personal trainer and author. If you aren't up for a workout don't feel guilty about postponing. On the other hand, exercise has been known to improve a bad mood. Work out your aggressions in the gym instead of at home or work.

Well, went to the doc yesterday and I get to FINALLY come off my steroids, so I'm hoping the weight will start falling off. It's horrible the weight gain i've had. And not eating right is not helping either. Shawn - yes, I think we are all struggling and need to hang close to the thread so we can get and give support. I know I'm having a hard time but trying to overcome it. Damn that chocolate!

Loser - I'm kinda the same way, I've been a total recluse the past few weeks. I'm hoping it warms up soon and I'm ready to get active again.
-
I notice a big difference in my energy thru the day when I work out in the am. However, I've not been good at doing that lately. Gotta get back on track and working hard to do it, but just have not accomplished it yet.

Okay Lynn, when you feel like it, I would love to see the after pics! Glad you are doing great! Cindi - glad to hear everyone is getting better, the sickness sure is going around. I had my flu shot this year, but I hear the type of flu going around is not protected by this shot. Well, I'm off work this morning - took a vacation day. I am heading out to my eye doc to have her check my eyes out. I'm hoping I have 20/15, but we'll see. Talk to everyone later.

Does anyone else have the restaurant card?
tonya66 replied to conniesueb's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think "she" is actually a He from reading his post. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and personal attacks are not necessary.(IMHO) It is the restraunts "right" to refuse to accept the card, no biggie, move on to another one. I personally just order off the menu and doggie bag it. Or sometimes my DH & I split a plate, one time was I charged for splitting a plate, and that was because they served all you can eat veggies, no big deal. I paid it. I've only used my card one time, it was at a buffet, and I knew going in to the restraunt that they charged $17.95 for childs buffet and they accepted the card (my Doc keeps a list of restraunts - he is active at contacting them and explaining the surgery). The adult price was 21.95, so I didn't save a huge amount of money. Just like we have the right to chose to have the surgery or not, restraunts have the right to deny the card, I might not agree with it, and I usually don't, especially for buffets, however, that is their right. So, I honor it. -
Hello - I too have a sweet tooth, and it is a struggle. But you have to make your mind up and stay away from it. What happens is "the honeymoon is over", which means now you do have to work a little harder to lose the weight. Instead of having something sweet on a daily basis, try something like SF pudding with a dab of SF coolwhip. Or even better, the SF jello, this helps me on my sweet tooth. I've also bought the SF candy and keep in case I need something a little crunchy. Losing weight is hard, but you have to think back to the reason you got the band, pull out the rule book and start following it. When you fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself up, your human, just start again. Best wishes to you, and 40 lb loss is GREAT!
