Battle of the Buldge, versus battle of the brain...

Oh I know how you feel. Everytime someone tells me how great I look, I have to tell them all the reasons why I don't look good. My DH pointed it out to me, i'm trying to work on that. Body image is a hard thing to change. I know you hear it all the time, but you really do look good! Your one of my inspirations! I am back at the gym again and hoping to get to my goal by this summer!

Ahh! How geen was my fan club?

You just have to hit the ignor button to people like this. You were and still are beautiful. Don't let ANYONE tell you different!

Menu: Bfast 4 strawberries, 4 mini chicken pieces Lunch Multi Grain Tortilla filled with southwestern spicey mustard, grilled chicken and spincach leaves Snack - string cheese, shaved turkey breast Dinner - not sure, but I promise it will be healthy - DH & I have a date nite tonight :crying: Exercise - 10:00 am - 15 min on Elliptical 3:00 pm - 15 min on Elliptical planning on 9:00 pm - 20 min HIIT WT - 181 (a little shocked that it didn't go down more - but hey, I'll take it and I'm just focussing on eating right and making exercise a part of my new life again, I'm sure the scales will continue to move down!) Notes - I was so tired last night, almost blew off going to the gym, but I will not let myself down again. So, I got my tired butt off the couch, and DH even went with me. I decided to do some circuit training to burn as much calories and build a little muscle as well. I actually had a good time at the gym, yes, I really did. I cant wait to go again tonight.

    Fat, Fat and still Fat!

Congratulations. I would like to give you advice, the lap band is not easy, its a tool - i'm sure you've heard that before. So, try and start exercising - walking 10 min a day 3x a day would be a great start. Try and add exercise to your life, and you will be amazed the progress you will make. I did great my first 6 months, then had an accident and was on crutches/wheel chair for awhile, I have lost anything in the 2nd 6 mos of my post op - gain then lose the same darn weight. I've just now started getting serious about my exercise again. I know that is the key.

    Anyone here?

Susie, congratulations! Thats great about the weightloss. I get my next fill April 7th, and I cannot wait! I've started planning my meals out this week, weighing and measuring my food. Seems to be working for me, I'm not even that hungry now. I think I still need just a slight fill, not much, just about .1 or .2 cc's. I am going to ask the doc to just add some in - he always takes all my fill out and then goes from there. I think he should just add a little and be done with it, but he always wants to take everything out, really bugs me.

    Anyone here?

Cindi - hope everyone in your house recovers quickly. That flu is nasty stuff! Shawn - I totally agree with you, I wish there was some type of guideline that really told you what the sweet spot is? I don't PB, nor do I want to PB. But I would like to PB if I take too big of bites, or eat too much etc. Right now, no matter what I do, I don't PB. weird. I do have some restriction, but just not quite where I need to be yet. Jen - Glad you are feeling better. The Alien poking out is funny. Well, gotta run....nothing really new here either to contribute. I'm working out now again, so I am hoping to lose this weight and see the scales start to move down again! I'm keeping a food journal, good or bad, I'm writing it down. I'm noticing I have a huge problem in the evening time!

    Lap-Band Side Effects

I remember when I was starting my journey, I have lived with heartburn for years and was fearful it would get worse after surgery. It is now completely gone! I no longer have it at all. Very happy about that. One of the side effects is PBing I read, I'm happy to say, I don't PB. Okay, I did have one episode, and I was filled up too tight, completely closed basically and ended up in the hospital for dehydration. But on a regular day, I don't get food stuck. Happy about that also The other side effect is EVERYONE is different, you can't take what other experience and take it for fact, I rarely experience anything others say they do. I will be going for fill #10 April 7th, most say by the 3rd fill they are at the sweet spot, what I wouldn't do to have that side effect . I'm hoping #10 does the trick. The biggest thing I would say is follow up on your fills, keep it at a good restriction level and follow the band rules. Also, start exercising, even if it is just walking. Best wishes. PS Jachut - girl, your my hero! I would love to pose in a bikini! You are such an inspiration!

    Anyone Hear of this?

Trust me, everyone will tell you a story. A friend of a friends neighbors best friends cousin has weight loss surgery and died. blah blah blah. When I first started thinking about WLS, I told a few people and I heard every kind of horror story there was. When I finally decided to go thru with the surgery, I told only my DH because I didn't want to hear the negative talk. Yes, there are risk to surgery, you should not take it lightly, and it is not for everyone. But for me, it was the only choice I had left. I am happy I did it and have no regrets. Best wishes to you!

    new birthday!!!

    :bathbaby::ohmy::huh2::washing::mad3::car::lightbulb: AWESOME!
  16. I do know that you don't have the malabsorption so you absorb all the calories you take in. I don't think you do stop at 50%. There are plenty who have reached their goal. However, I do think you do have to try a bit harder the closer you get to goal. I know some struggle, I'm one of them, but its me that is keeping me from losing the rest of my weight. I am the one making bad choices. I know if I kick up the exercise, and follow the rulse of the band, I will get to goal. I started doing it recently and have already lost some weight, so I know I can get to goal - I just have to be determined to stay away from those darn carb demons!

    Barrett's Esophagus

Anne - good news about the Barretts not being there! Yes, I am very interested to hear how the biobsy goes! I think the Esophogitus can heal, but not completely. I get a burning senstaion if I eat anything very spicey - I used to eat a Jalopeno pepper with every meal, not just 1 pepper, but 4 or 5. I noticed now that I can only maybe eat 1/2 one. It burns too bad and gets it irritated if I eat a lot of spicey food. - I love spicey food too, so its somehting I hate that I can't eat it like I used to. But oh well, I do love not having heartburn 24/7! I do think my esophagus has gotten better, its just not completly gone. Best wishes!

    Barrett's Esophagus

Hello, I have stage 4 esophagitus, which is the last stage before Barretts. My doctor removed a hernia during the lapband procedure, he also stretched my esophagus. I have lived with heartburn for years, and horrible night reflux. I am so happy to say that I no longer have any of these. I was so worried that I would since so many do, but I don't. I would make sure to discuss this with your doctor. He probably can see it when they do all the test.

My menu: 4 oz of yogurt with 2 tbls granola lunch 4 oz of yogurt with granola snack 1/2 green apple with 1 tbls penut butter dinner 3 oz chicken breast rice - about 1/2 cup Then 1 slice of plain cheesecake - no, it wasn't sugar free Exercise - 20 min of HIIT on the elliptical machine, burned 200 calories, 1.7 miles All in all, I did pretty good besides the cheesecake. What happened here, let me explain myself, I had a single friend of ours over for dinner because I made too much food. (I always think about the single men since they don't have a wife at home cooking for them), anyhow, he felt obligated to bring a dessert - even though I told him not to, he still brought a cheesecake factory cheesecake. So, I felt obligated to have a slice. I should have just eaten 1/2 slice - but no, I ate the whole darned slice. Anyhow, after eating the cheesecake, I headed to the gym and worked off 200 calories. Scale in the am stated I weighed 183 - arggg, sucks~ I will see the number go down, I will, I will. I'm determined! I'm not giving up, I must see the 160 again, soon! I have 100 days or so left until my cruise, I refuse to go weighing what I do now. I want to look halfway decent in my bathing suit you know. Well, I will start checking in more on my journal and updating my menu. This seems to keep me on track better.
