4/30/08 - countdown is on until my cruise
tonya66 posted a blog entry in Sunshine2's (Tonya's) Journal
60 days baby, 60 days until I'm sailing across the ocean, with an umbrella drink in my hand! Oh I can't wait! Todays menu Bfast 1 scrambled egg with sausage/ham/veggies in it Lunch out to lunch with friends, going to go to a bar-b-que joint, planning on getting the smoked chicken with green beans - no potatoes. Dinner - hmmm - not sure yet, we will have leftovers tonight since we have our bible/book study tonight at our house - don't want to stink up the house with cooking - I probably will just drink a protein shake with added strawberries & maybe a little oatmeal. yum. Exercise 10 am - 20 min elliptical 3:00 pm - 15 min elliptical Planning on hitting the gym tonight after the book study and working my upper and lower body, also going to do 30 min of elliptical- I plan on being at the gym for a good 1 1/2 hours tonight. Wt - 180.6 - grrrrrrrr - Tom will be here next week, not sure if that is why the scale is bouncing, but I'm staying focused. Will not weigh again until Monday. Well, at least I'm going to try not to weigh until then. :crying: -
Cindi - I'm going to focus on eating protein first myself. I do notice a big difference in how much I eat when I eat protein first. I will have to try the Banana Boat dial a tan stuff. I've tried other tanning lotions and it seems to just make me orange, but I haven't tried Banana Boat. I am very fair, and I don't tan to make myself get really dark, my DH had skin cancer 10 years ago, so I'm leary about going all the time. I usually just tan to get a slight color on my legs. I swear, they are ghostly white - they will almost blind you they are so bright and white. lol. Well, better get to work.......
-
Angyl - You are still doing great, and you are right - the important thing is your health! I would rather be a little up in weight and feel good vs skinny and no energy. Tulip - so glad you popped in. I'm about to plant some tomatoes this weekend! I love squash! As for me, nothing new, just hitting the gym really hard these days and I'm finding my strength is coming back, I was able to do 35 min on the elliptical last night, I'm working my way back up to 45 min! NOt sure why I'm not losing, wondering if I'm not eating enough? I really don't track calories, I just eat - small amounts, but I try and make healthy choices. Scale is so damned stubborn these days. But I do feel good, my clothes (size 12) fit nicely, and can squeeze into a 10, but tight and uncomfortable. Working my way to get into the 10's! I started tanning just a little, need to get some color on my white legs for my capris and shorts this summer. I've been eating a lot of fruit vs protein, so I think I need to up my protein. But I just love fresh fruit in the summer - eating some delicious strawberries & grapes as I type. I will squeeze in a protein drink this afternoon. I have 61 days until my cruise!!!!! I gotta get my butt in gear and lose some weight! Talk to everyone later

I had a great workout last night on the elliptical machine, burned 340 calories! I'm building my strength back up and was able to do over 30 min on it last night. I'm trying to get back to 45 min. Slowly but surely! I have 61 days until my cruise. Here is a challenge to myself - 1) For the next 60 days I will do a minimum of 45 min of cardio 5 days a week. This means I can go down during break and do 15 min on each break = 30 min, and in the evening I will do some at the gym! 2) For the next 60 days I will do strength training a minimum of 3 days a week. 3) For the next 60 days, I will work out 6 days per week! 4) For the next 60 days I will NOT have any chocolate. None! 5) For the next 60 days I will work my abs out 3x per week. I plan on attending the abs abs abs class at the gym. Oh yeah. 6) For the next 60 days I will lose a minimum of 15 lbs, my goal is 20, but will shoot for 15 for sure. 7) For the next 60 days I will focus on my diet - making healthy choices - no cheating. 8) For the next 60 days, I will tan - (already started this) 9) For the next 60 days its all about me! 10) For the next 60 days, I will get out of bed and do some sort of exercise before I get ready for work - even if its just stretching. Yes, just 61 days and I will be sailing out in the ocean! Heading for St. Thomas, St. Marten and Bahamas - I'm so ready for this. I just hope I do better than my cruise last year (when I fell and had to have surgery :w00t:) Okay - I owe, I owe, I owe, so off to work I go..............

Yay!! Good for you!

Cindi - that is interesting, taking part of a fill out and then putting it back in. Wonder why it jumps starts? I'm interested to know how it works. I had a busy weekend, worked the special olympics on Friday and Saturday, totally exausted and barely able to come to work today - wanted to take the day off to rest up but too much going on at work. I didn't make it to the gym over the weekend, but trust me, I got plenty of exercise! I will make it to the gym tonight, and back to my healthy eating. Seems the weekends are really hard for me, not sure why, maybe I just need to plan them better.

How tall are you Stef? I noticed our stats were very similar, even our age! I also don't live too far from you, I'm in Oklahoma. -
Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge

I think so, thats the way I've always done it. Even though I've lost more, I want to keep track of what I lose during the "challenge", so I put my starting weight as of this morning down, and my goal weight I want to weigh at the end of the challenge, for me it will be June 29th, I leave for vacation that day and will not have access to scales - plus I probably won't be "trying" while on vacation. -
Summer/Independence Day Weightloss Challenge

I sure hope my weightloss will pick up, its going so slow for some reason, I'm barely losing 1 pound in a week, if that! I was in October down to 167, then I was eating around the band, had to get on steroids for 6 weeks, and jumped clear back up to 184! I've been exercising the past 3 weeks 6 days a week, I've been eating really good, and watching my portions. I got a fill on 4/7 and I'm pretty restricted for the most part. I still can eat regular bites of food, but I get full quick, so I don't think I need another fill. I just need to make sure I make the right food choices. Anyhow, I would love to lose 25 by the time my cruise comes around, and I'm actually going to aim at that, but I will be really happy to lose 19, so that will put me down to 160! I am just frustrated on how long it takes me to lose 1 freaken pound! The last challenge I joined late, and was only in it for 3 weeks, but guess how much I lost by trying for 3 weeks - yep you guessed it, 2.7 pounds, thats it. I guess each pound I should be grateful for, but man, its hard work losing it. I will continue to exercise and continue to plug away and hopefully will be on the road to reach my goal weight eventually which is 145! -

Shawn - I have never beem to Montana, I've heard it is "God's Country", so some day I hope to visit there. My DH would love to go, he is such an outdoors man, Montana is his kind of country. I know what you mean about "plugging along", I was doing that for over 6 months, but I really was just eating as I desired, no exercise at all. The bad news, I managed to get back up to the 180's when I was down to 160's, the good news, PRE band, I would have gained every single pound back, plus some. I've done it many many many times. So, the band has kept in track. I realize that I have to exercise, without exercise, I do not lose. I'm noticing it is very difficult to lose 1 pound these days. I'm not sure if I need another fill, if I do, its just very very small amount, I'm a little nervous on getting one right now. I'm just trying to focus on the rules right now, I seemed to have gotten away from them. I seemed to "eat around the band", I never new what people meant when they said that, but I do now. In the past 3 weeks, I have exercised 6 days a week, and I've eaten pretty good, I've had a few slip ups, but very minimal, and how much have I lost, 2 lbs! Wow, just two freaken pounds. I do think I've lost a lot more inches than I did pounds, but my point is, its becoming very difficult for me to lose, but I am not going to give up! I want to reach my goal, let me rephrase that, I will reach my goal by my 2 yr band anniversary, I will, I will, I will! Okay, I better get to work, tomorrow I will be out of the office, I am volunteering at the special olympics so I will be very busy, but not at work.

Spring Into Action Weight Loss Challenge
tonya66 replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I joined this challenge late, just about 2 1/2 weeks ago, so I made a goal to lose just 5 pounds! That did not happen, I have exercising for the past 3 weeks now, 6 days a week, I've been eating pretty clean, except this last weekend and I had a big party at my house, and ate some sweets. But for the most part, I've done really really good! I managed to lose just 2 freaken pounds. I am a little upset about the scales, but then one part of me feels really good because I feel so much smaller than just 2 pounds, I know I'm lose inches vs weight at this time, because my clothes are getting lose on me. Do "sweet eaters" have a harder time on the band?
tonya66 replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'll admit, I'm a sugar addict, At times it can be hard! But, instead of eating the entire bag of Cookies pre-band, I can only eat a few. You do have to make your mind up and make better choices with the band. My cousin had gastric Bypass in Nov of 2006 and now she no longer has the dumpting syndrom and can eat sweets. So the the dumping syndrom with bypass is temporary for most people. Some have it always, but from what I read, your body gets used to it and you then don't have it. Ether surgery is not a quick fix, you do have to make better choices no matter which one you choose, but they will be a tool to help you. -

Good bye - this time its FOREVER! 4/23/08

Good bye to the 180's, and this time, it is forever! You are not coming back into my life EVER again! I weighed this morning and dropped out of the 180's and into the 170's. I've been here before, and gained back up to the 180's but this time, never again! It felt soooo good to see the 179 this morning, I'm so happy to be back into the 170's. I'm hoping to get back into the 160's soon! Exercise my friends is the key! I'm convinced more than ever. Speaking of exercise, I had a great workout last night. I was sweaten' like a whore in church on Sunday morning! It felt so good to sweat and I felt like I really was buring the calories. Menu today - Bfast - protein shake, made with skim milk, 1 scoop of vanila whey protein powder, 2 strawberries and 1/3 of a banana and some raw oatmeal. YUM. Lunch - going out for lunch today with some friends, so not sure but I like the scale moving down, so you can bet it will be healthy! Dinner - Exercise
