  1. I've been doing good with my exercise challenge and I have some restriction too. I'm so happy I could cry! Its been over 18 months, but this time, I think I might hit my sweet spot. I am sure hoping it last. Usually I get a fill and it last a bit, then it disappears! I pray this one last! Exercise today: 30 min on Elliptical (352 calories burned) Lower body workout - Quads, hamstrings, calves, abs, inner and outer thighs) Wt - 181.9 (Monday it was 186 lbs!) And TOM came today so I'm happy to show a loss.

PS - I'm kicking some butt on my exercise program too! I'm on my 3rd week of making it the gym at least 5 times! This week, I think I'll make it 6!

    Anyone here?

Its day 3 of my fill and I have restriction! I'm so happy I could CRY!!!!! Its been a long road to get to my restriction since November of last year. thats when I got overfilled, spent Thanksgiving in the hospital and they had to take so much out because I was so swollen. Today, I took my kids to the mall to finish up some school shopping, we had lunch, I had a greek gero (sp?) meal, ate just a few bites and was full. So, my kids wanted dip n dots. I thought, hey, I'll get the fat free one, just a very small cup. So I'm eating my dipn dots, Fat Free fudge dip n dots, and I PB'd. Yes, I pb'd on Ice cream! I didn't even PB on the wheat pita bread I ate for lunch with the steak meat, but I PB on ice cream? I think I was just too full. I do notice I have more problems drinking cold drinks, it seems I get really tight when I eat or drink something cold. My doc says sometimes the cold makes your esophagus spasm. Not sure, but I do no that I definately PB'd! I had to run to the bathroom and it was full, so I was holding it in my mouth about to spit it out everywhere, when finally a stall came open and burst in there and it shot out everywhere (yes, I know it gross,) I am just so happy to even PB - I am so totaly thrilled that I have restriction. I'm just hoping it last! Since my fill on Wednesday and the slight unfill, I've lost 5 lbs! Well, I'm headed for Mexican tonight and I told my DH that I would split a meal with him (fajitas) So I have to stay away from the chips!!! Have a wonderful weekend everyone.:tt2:

i am staying on plan today because ...

Your doctor is totally right! I have been overfilled twice since November and it is like starting over! I have not lost weight since November because of it either. I think I am FINALLY to my sweet spot. I'm on day 3 now and still feel the restriction. Its not too tight, but for the first time in my freaken band life, I have to slow down on eating. I'm either too lose, or they put a little more in, and I go completely shut up, where I am PBing my own saliva, it is not fun, then they have to take me way down again, and ease me back up. Its been such a long road, but - I might be there! I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hope this restriction last!:tt2:

i am staying on plan today because ...

oh, thank you Renewedhope! I have been struggling for a year now, or almost a year. Since November of 2007, I got overfilled and have been struggling to get some restriction again (they ended up taking a lot out when I got overfilled and had to spend the night in the hospital because of severe dehydration. - not fun) I think I might FINALLY have some restriction. At least today and yesterday I did. Hopefully I can start losing again, I haven't lost since November of last year - so frustrating. Thanks again for your kind words.
  6. I just went for fill #11, He took out my previous stuff, and I only had 2.4cc's instead of 3.9, so not sure why I had so much less? He filled me up to 4.0 cc's, this is where I usually have problems, so I'm trying to stick it out, but I think I am too tight. I PB'd on some liquid and some soft peaches. I am so tired of trying to get this restriction, I think I will ride it out for the rest of the day and barely sip on liquids and see how that goes.

    I'm from Tulsa, Oklahoma

Hello, I live here in Tulsa and I use Dr. Kirk for my fills, he is out of Bailey Medical Center in Owasso and he is so wonderful. You would love him. He does a lot of fills for people all around. I know when I was getting my fill yeserday a lady had her surgery in Michigan and was going to him for her fills. Let me know if you have any questions.

Fill #11 may be too tight

Thanks Ajoneen - it turns out I started pbing my saliva, and couldnt even drink one think. I went back to my doc and I was completely closed. He took out about 2/10's of a cc and MUCH better. I can drink again!
  10. tonya66

    Anyone here?

I went back to the doc yesterday and he took a little more than .2 cc's out. He said I'm somewhere between 3.6 and 3.8 cc's. Whats weird is, I was supposed to be at 3.9 or 3.8 cc originally but had no restriction (or very little restriction). But when he pulled out my cc's, he could only get out 2.4 - so no wonder I didn't have restriciton! But now I'm back to over 3 again. I am drinking a protein shake for breakfast, and I can tell I'm tight - I LOVE IT! So, we'll see how long this last. If I get lose pretty quick, I'm going to request they take a good long at my band, I'm thinking I might have a small leak.

    Anyone here?

Good morning, I just got back from fill #11, and I think I will be heading back, I think its too tight again. I'm pBing on a protein shake - right now I'm trying sipping on it and see how it does. But by 4:00 if it doesn't get better, I'll be heading back to the doc. Well, hope all is well with everyone, Gerio - I have acid refluc before and I know it is not fun. Well I just PB'd again, I think I'm heading back to the doc - I can't hold down liquids - I know if I don't go now, by tonight I won't be able to hold down my saliva. Well, i better go tell my boss - I don't know what I'm going to tell her because she doesn't know about my band.

    I'm falling behind

I'm not doing a good job at keeping up with my journal, i'm falling behind. Well, lets see, where do I start. Oh yes, two weeks ago I started the BFL challenge. Well, it was miss & go for the first two weeks, but I think I'm finally with it! I exercised 5 times the first and 2nd week, and this week, my goal it to do it 6 times as the BFL program indicates. I've actually started over, this week, (yesterday) so today is day 2 of the 84 day challenge. My menu Bfast - lf yogurt with a handfull of granola 1 small bag of rice cakes - yum (90 calories) snack 1 small back of rice cakes (90 calories) Lunch Fish taco on a whole wheat tortilla, cilantro and pace picanta sauce, 2 strawberries snack 1/2 apple with peanut butter dinner fish taco on a whole wheat tortilla (yes, I love these things) Monday exercise - UBWO - worked everything on the upper body - HARD. 30 min of elliptical Tuesday - 60 min of elliptical

I will try this recipe soon. My oven went out and I haven't gotten another so I've been wanting to make a meatloaf, this sounds heavenly.

    Anyone here?

Lynn - I agree with Sula - you are being too hard on yourself. We are all in a struggle here, I think we all thought we would be at goal by now, or at least I did. But, I finally realized, its not a race, its my life. I will continue to try and I will get there some day. The beauty of the band is, it will continue to work, so it doesn't stop working at 1 yr, or 2 yrs, or even 5 years. For the last two weeks I've been exercising 5 times a week, so I've been trying to get back into the swing of thing. My biggest problem is EATING. I don't eat much I don't think, one plate and I'm done, where as before it was at least 2 plates. But, I eat the WRONG stuff! Sugar, yes, Sugar calls my name almost on a daily basis. Pies, cakes, cookies, they all call me, I love chocolate, man do I love chocolate. Its hard, but we can do it! We will do it, so hang in there and we'll all get there!

    Anyone here?

You and me both. I envy those people too! If I don't try and "diet" and "exercise" I do not lose! I guess the good thing about the bad is I don't gain either. I might gain 10 lbs or so, but not like I did pre-band. I would gain 50 lbs in 2 months with no problem. It was horrible, so for that fact alone, I do love the band. I just want restriction! I can't believe its been a year and half and I'm still trying to get to my sweet spot, so frusterating. Well you might be right, cheesecake could be considered protein, hehehe.

    26 days post op

I'm loving the new tool. I do have a few concerns, I'm not eating much, I'm struggling to get my protein in, and working hard on drinking enough water - its tough! I just cannot eat more without getting sick! This morning, I made an 8 oz protein shake, could only drink 1/2 - I was about to vomit even thinking about drinking more - protein taken in about 10! My menu yesterday - Bfast 1 fried egg with cheese - ate about 3/4 lunch 1/2 cup of cottage cheese dinner 1/2 cup of refried beans (these seem to work best for me) Exercise needs to pick up for me. I've been slacking on my walking. My goals for the rest of the week 1) Focus on getting my water in 2) Increase my walking - make it a priority 3) Work on my protein! PS - another NSV - good-bye to my size 18's forever, they are just too big now, and hello to my comfortable 16's! I am wearing a pair of 16 jeans today that look darn good on me, I feel very slim & sexy in them. I haven't worn them in a while - probably 2 years? DH also can't keep his hands off me either, he keeps telling me how good I look. I love the new me! My kids keep telling us "get a room" LOL.

    Anyone here?

Well Body for Life is going "ok", I missed two workout this week, but none last week. I am about to head to the gym now - so I'm still trying. My eating just has been the struggle. Yesterday was cheesecake factory 30 yr anniversary and all the cheesecake was $1.50, so you know I had to go - ate me an entire piece of cheesecake for dinner - yes, I'm sure that will help me get to goal - NOT. So, it seems I have no will power with food these days, not sure what to do about it, but just keep trying to get back in the game. Such a struggle these days!

    Anyone here?

Oh man, I wish sometimes I had that problem, then I would have good restriction. I've only PB'd once, and since then, nothing. I don't have to take small bites of food, I can eat anything. I usually have restriction for a little bit after a fill, but then a week or so later, NOTHING. I'm so frusterated. I go for my fill #11 - Yes, fill #11 next week, August 6th at 9 am. I'm at 3.9ccs in a 4 cc band and still barely any restriction. I've also already scheduled my fill #12 because I know I will probably have to have another fill after my fill #11. I wish and pray each time that this fill will do the trick, and it seems like it for awhile then zilcho, nothing. So so so frusterating. I want RESTRICTION!

    Anyone here?

Gerio - I agree, the last 20 lbs are so hard to get off. I have about 30 lbs to loose! Angy - Well, the important thing is your healthy again. You can lose the weight you gained, and I'm glad you finally have a good doc, the last one sucked as you know. Louisianagirl - Hang in there, I know how you feel. Its been so long since I've lost - I keep losing the same 5 or 10 lbs. I finally go for fill number 11 next week. I so need it. I'm so discouraged about my fills, I get a fill, it works then it stops. It takes months before I can get in for another one. I started double booking my appointments, so I have one August 6, and another September 17th. I'm hoping my next one will be the one. I'm so close to getting to my sweet spot, it might only take a few drops to get me there.

    Have you played this game?

OMG - your story is my story! I'm 18 months post op, but I was the opposite a little of you. My 1st 6 months I gave it my all, and then after an accident I had to have surgery and I just started eating whatever I wanted, when I wanted it, and absolutely no exercise. I'm now at 18 months and haven't lost weight in a year. So, I just had this talk with my self this week. I headed back to the gym on Monday and have been there every day this week so far. I've started planning my meals out again, and eating good stuff. I feel better already!

    7/24/08

On 7/18 it was m7 18 mo anniversary. I'm keeping track of my weight month by month. As bad as it is, I want to see where I've come from and how far I need to go, and how my eating is effecting my weight. Although I haven't lost weight in awhile, and keep yo yoing around the same 10 lbs. I'm overall happy with the lap band. I don't blame the lap band for my no weightloss lately, I blame myself - I have to try a little harder than I have been doing, exercising is needed and eating lean proteins. Even though I've been stuck for months, I'm happy that I'm not over 200 lbs. My history before lap band, If I wasnt trying, I gained like crazy, could gain 20 lbs in 1 month. So for that, I love the lap band. I'm not giving up and I'm going to hit goal by my 2 year anniversary, this is something that I am determined to do! Highest weight - 248 1 mo post op - 206.8 2 mo post op - 198 3 mo post op - 193 4 mo post op - 184.2 5 mo post op - 178 6 mo post op – 174 7 mo post op - 178 - went on vacation and ate big (7 day cruise) 8 mo post op - 174 9 mo post op - 170 10 mo post op- 167 11 mo post op - 170 - haven’t even been trying 12 mo post op - 174 - again, not trying. But finally refocused - exactly where I was at 6 mos post op – so basically no weight loss in the past 6 mos 13 mo post op - 183 - Ouch! started taking steroids and made my weight go up, along with not eating right and no exercise! 14 mo post op - 185 - grrrrr 15 mo post op - 180 - weight is finally going down, but inches are actually coming off faster since I've been exercising a lot. 16 mo post op - 178 17 mo post op - 175 18 mo post op - 179- still not focussed:sad:

    7/23/08

My activities for Wednesday 7/23/08 I started another BFL challenge on Monday, it is 84 days and I'm hoping it will get me back in the grove of exercising. Today was the lower body workout, I went to the gym and gave it my all. My knee just wouldn't let me do some of the stuff, and when I felt pain, I had to stop because I didn't want to damage it further. I was afraid pushing myself/my knee/ would cause a set back, so I held off on some of the stuff I wanted to do Quads - leg presses Hamstrings - lying leg extentions, straight leg dead lifts Calfs - calf raises Abs - ab crunches with 10 lb weights, and inclined sit ups Menu bfast - cottage cheese mixed with yogurt snack - 3 strawberries lunch - whole wheat tortia, 3 oz chicken breast and hot pace picante sauce snack - necterine dinner - 3/4 cup of pinto beans wt - didn't weigh, trying not to focus on the scales for the next couple of weeks and really focus on feeling better and exercise.
