Susie, I remember reading that one of the cons to the band is acid reflux, so I do think it comes on later. I do have it, but not as often. It seems to come and go. But when I have it, its horrible, it comes out my nose and it keeps me up all night coughing and choking. I hate it. I usually have it 2 times a week these days. After my hysterectomy I had it bad. I think I must have gotten tighter or something. It seems to help me by not eating at least 3 hours before bedtime, I can't even take a drink of water. This seems to help me. Maybe you were too tight, and maybe having some fluid will help you lose. It is frusterating, I totally feel your pain.

Congratulations on a new car! I'm hoping to get one in the next few months. We're going to give my old one to my 16 year old daughter and I get a new one. I've had my other one for 11 years and its time to move on. I'm trying to hold off until May to get a new one, trying to hold off on payments as long as possible. I haven't had a car payment in 7 years and it has been nice. But its time to take a payment on again, because I have to have a new car! I had a hiatal hernia, and they fixed it when I got the band. I only have reflux problems when I eat late and not let the food settle before I go to bed. I have to eat about 3 hours before bedtime or I have problems. I sure hope the insurance company pulls thru on your reduction, I know you are anxious about that. I'm saving my pennies right now for a tummy tuck and lipo. I'm hoping to do it in September or October, But not sure yet. I've got my quote of $5800 for both.

I go to the weight watchers meeting again tonight. I'm switching my meeting nights to Monday. I am going to kick the leader if she tells me I've gained! I swear, they might arrest me if she says I've gained! By my sclaes, I've lost 3 lbs. So we'll see what they say tonight. I always weight naked, and after I go pee i the mornings, so I'm at my very lowest weight. I've stuck to the weight watchers plan pretty good. I've actually stuck to it perfectly, so we'll see how I do tonight. I'm trying to get back into my morning workout routines this week. So far, I've failed. I set my alarm for 4:45 am, and then I turned it off. grrrr. I will keep trying. I plan on going to the gym tonight and doing 30 minutes on the treadmill. I've got to get back to exercise and I've got to get out of the 170's damn it. I've been in the 170's for a freaken year! I drop down to the 160's then creep right back up to the 170's and I'm sick of it! I don't ever ever ever want to see the 170's again. Okay, I've had my Monday morning rant, so I will start thinking and typing more positive or it will just put me in a pissy mood the rest of the day. I get 22 points a day with Weight Watchers and they say I must eat the 22 points. I think it might be too much, but I'm going to do it their way. Gawd only knows that my way hasn't worked. (okay, enougth with the negative talk) My menu today Weight wise oatmeal - makde with skim milk - 4 points 1 banana - 2 points Lunch - ww meal 5 points (smart ones) 1 nectarine - 1 point Dinner 2 0z of roast beef - 3 points 1/2 cup mashed potatoes w/1 tsp butter - 3 points 2 tsp EVO - 2 points baby carrots - 0 points late nite snack ww ice cream bar - 2 points TOTAL POINTS FOR THE DAY = 22 Wt - 171.4 Exercise plans - 30 min at gym on treadmill

    2/22/09 Scale Whore

I admit it, I'm a scale whore too. I try and stay off so I don't affect my emotions, but I just can't. I have to jump on the scale. I've done it all my life. Then I go input my weight on my excel spreadsheet that I've kept updated since 1999. I have my weight for the past 9 years on a pretty much daily basis. Yep, I think that qualifies me for a scale whore.
  7. I'm 2 years out and down to my last 20 lbs to lose. grrrr. I joined weight watchers last week and I never mentioned my band. I mainly joined to help me lose the final 20 lbs. I've been struggling to lose it for over 8 months now and not lost any of it. I like the support and the weekly meetings. I'm eating about 20 points, they say I should eat 22. So I tweaked it a little. The band keeps me from getting hungry, so like one poster stated, I'm using WW as a tool with my other tool (the band). I don't look at it as a diet, because with weight watchers, you can eat pretty much anything, it just teaches you portion control. Which the band does too, however, I like the accountability of going to the meetings every week.

I returned back to work this week from my 5 weeks off due to my hysterectomy. It seems to be kicking my butt! So tired, but I'm hanging in there. I cannot wait to be back to normal! I've been struggling the last year trying to lose the last 20 lbs. I decided to do something different and I joined weight watchers. Well, I have 1 week down and guess what, I gained 4 lbs by joining ww. I stuck to the plan to a T. Needless to say, I am very frustrated. I decided I will give WW 30 days. If in that 30 days I don't lose any weight, I'm done! So I'm trying not to get too frustrated, but I tell you, I am. Next week I am hoping the doc will release me to exercise, she said it was still too soon this week, but she did say I can go for a leisure walk, just not hard core brisk walking and no lifting anything. Now that I am back to work, I can keep my blog updated more. Wt 174.8

Hello all. Sula, great job on exercising! Hows DH after the shoulder surgery? Yay, Bandana, won some money!!!! Great knews. I love it when people WIN and not lose to those casinos. lol. Well, I joined weight watchers, I decided I needed to do something different. So far following joining the ww plan, I'm up 1.5 pounds. grrrr. I know its just going to take my body some time, so I'm going to give it 30 days and see what happens. So far I've followed the plan to a T and I'm on day 3. I go to the doc tomorrow and she'll probably release me to go back to work. I know I will be super busy at work trying to catch up, but I will be able to get online more when I'm at work. Very fast computers and my home is so slow, I don't get on often. I'm going to ask the doc about exercise too, hopefully I can resume that. I'll be about 5 weeks out, so we'll see. Well, I'll check in later.

I'm recovering from my surgery nicely. Still tired but not as sore. I've been eating pretty good but not losing. I've started keeping a food journal to see how many calories I am eating, I could be eating too much without realizing it. I still cant exercise, but hoping to when my 6 weeks recovery time is up. I will check with my doc at my follow up appt. From everything I've read, 6 weeks recovery time is needed after a hysterectomy. wt 170.7

Hello everyone. Just swinging by to check in. Nothing really going on with me, just resting as much as possible like the doc ordered. I'm really getting antsy. I'm ready to head to the gym, but the doc says no way until 6 weeks. grrrrrr Eating has been for the most part pretty good, I did cheat a little last night and had a piece of cheese cake, but only ate 1/2 of it, gave the rest to hubby. I was feeling pretty good, then I was doing a lot more around the house and now I'm cramping again, so I'm going to stay off my feet today and focus on rest. I don't want to go backwards in my recovery, so I better take it easy. Well, I will check back later.

Hello all, Just swinging by to say hello. I'm recovering from my hysterectomy, and doing pretty good. I just tire out very easily. But I do feel better. My stitches are finally disolving, so I'm able to sit a bit longer. Bandana - happy 2 year Band Birthday! 84lbs is GREAT. Just remember, its not a race, its the rest of our life. You will get there, whether it takes 2 yrs, or 3 yrs, or even 4. The good thing is your down 84lbs! Wow. I know what you mean about exercise Sula, I try and try and try. I do good then I fall hard. Right now, I have an excuse, the doctor said absolutely no exercise. I go back on 2/16 (which will be right about 5 weeks post op), so I will ask her about exercise again. I'm ready to get the final 20 lbs off of me! I've been battling this for the past year and I'm ready to be done with it! I know that exercise is the only way I will lose it, God knows I don't eat much, however, I sometimes make bad choices on what I eat. But anyhow, I'll be checking in more and more as I heal. I hope everyone else is doing well. Keep checking in everyone, we all need the support and encouragement...... Bye now.

Just swinging by to update my journal. I had my hysterectomy on 1/14/09 and I'm hoping it will cure the pain I was having. Already, the horrible back pain is GONE. I will post my 2 year band report when I recoup from the hysterectomy. I still hurt to sit, but for the most part I am feeling pretty good. The Doctor has ordered me to do absolutely nothing for 2 weeks, and I have done nothing so far, but going a little stir crazy. But trying to follow the docs orders :tt1:. I've been eating pretty good, hardly have an appetite and the band seems to have gotten a little tighter, it actually is perfect restriction right now, and I love it. Hopefully it will stay like this and I can lose some weight. Well, gotta go, starting to hurt and I don't want that :cursing:

ahhhhh, I come back and everyone leaves? Where is everyone? I'm going stir crazy stuck at home, and today we get an ice storm, so looks like I will be stuck at home a little longer. Just swinging by to check on everyone, I'm recovering, slowly but surely. Can't wait to be back to normal. I'm losing the weight again. Weighed in at 169, I was 166, so I'm just a few pounds up still. But having big Bertha out, might help in the weightloss area. Yay!

The pain with LB is a little more tender in the stomach area, but it goes away within a week. The hysterectomy has just worn me out, very tired. Even though I had it done vaginally, I still have stitches down there and they are very irritating. grrrr. The small amount of pain I had with the LB surgery was well worth it. When is your surgery?

Wow, I leave for a bit and I see the old gang back!!! What an encouragement for me to see you guys back online! I can't talk (or type) long, It hurts to sit. I had my surgery last week, its been 1 week since I said good-bye to my uteris (i know tmi), but already feel like a new woman. It hurts down below, and hurts to sit but for the most part doing pretty good. I did not get the tummy tuck, mainly because the doc that was going to do it couldn't fit me in until Feb and I had to have my surgery in January. I couldn't go another month, just couldn't do it, tummy tuck or no tummy tuck, big bertha (My Uterys (sp??) had to go!!!! She was causing me misery!!!!! Anyhow, I will check back when I can sit and type longer, I just wanted to pop in and say hello! OH, by the way, you would think that taking something out of me the size of a beach ball would cause me to LOSE weight, but I put on 12 pounds since surgery, then turned around and lost 7 overnight. I guess so much liquids pumped into me, made me gain. I did have to spend 2 nights in the hospital. Well, again, gotta go, hurts to sit, but I promise to check in later. Night Night.

    2009 goals

I don't believe in resolutions, however, I do believe in setting some goals, writing them down and setting a plan in action to reach those goals. I don't believe you have to only do them in Janaury, however, I usually set goals ever month. I decided to set a yearly goal, and assess where I am every 2 or 3 months. This way it will keep on track to reaching my goals. I'm only going to list a few of them on this blog, the ones that have to do with my band. 1. Lose my final 30 lbs this year. I will do this in 2009. I need to plan my meals better and get back to the band rules. Proteins first! 2. Exercise will become a big part of my life in 2009. I have a membership, time to start using it more than I do!
