Last night I felt was the first time Ron made sense, even though I am no supporter, but Laura really needed to take care of herself. I too had a fracture and It is a lot of rehab. As much as you want to ignore it, you just can't. I ended up having surgery and its been almost 2 years and still having problems. So for Laura's future health, she needed to go home and get the rehab she needed. Its sad, and its unfortunate but as they say, "shit happens". lol. I agree, I thought Ron did look better without the beard, and did you hear him say that he weighed 200 at about 9 and 300 in the teens? Wow, thats a big 9 year old. I think he must be at least 9 years older than his wife. She looks good. Oh my, what a tear jerker last night, I was bawling and felt sorry for the brother. I am hoping they have him on the "next" biggest loser. I hope he gets some help, but as most of you know, its hard to take the weight off, and KEEP IT OFF. Pryor to my band, I could take off 50 lbs no problem, but I always gained it back. I was a Yo-yo queen. So the odds are not in favor for the contestants, but many do make life time changes, and thats great if they can do it. Tara looked really good last night, I bought the OK magazine she is on the cover of, and Helen is in there too. She looked good too. They all looked good. I want a makeover too! I want tummy tuck, a little lip on my thighs, and the bat wings to be gone!

Ask me as many as you want, I'll be as honest and truthful as I can. I am a weird and different type of bandster. I can pretty much eat anything and never PB. I've PB'd 3 times in the 2+ years I've had my band, once on a piece of bread (hamburger), once on a french fry, and another time on a Starbucks frozen drink. Not sure what that was about, but it got stuck - lol. So to answer you question about slider foods, I don't tend to go for slider foods with Weight Watchers or without. I try and eat my Protein first. My issue is my sweet tooth. I love my sweets, always have, always will. So, with weight watchers, I can still have some sweets (every now and then), but it teaches me my portion control. Like tonight, I have already got planned to have a cookie and cream Weight Watchers Ice cream bar. It's two points, and I have included it with my meal plan. Prior to Weight Watchers, I would have just had a Braums ice cream, or something like that, or Cookies or brownies when I had the sweet tooth. So I hope I am not rambling on too much, but to answer your question in short - lol - No, I don't have a problem with slider foods now that I joined weight watchers. I tend to eat more processed food, which I am working on trying to prepare more foods this week. I am trying to eat less sodium and try and prepare fresh chicken breast, talapia, etc vs. the frozen WW meals (they and all other frozen meals contain a lot of sodium, which makes me retain a lot fluids). Do I believe Weight Watchers is for everyone, NO. Do I like Weight Watchers, Yes. It was the right choice for me at this time in my life and at this stage of my journey with the band.

Well, it depends on how my band feels that day. I have a very finicky little band. For the past 4 weeks, I've had not problem, then about a week ago, I've got tight again. I couldn't even finish 1 packet of oatmeal. I could only eat 1/2 cup of turkey chili last night. I usually can eat around 18 points, even when I'm tight - sometimes its hard, but usually can do it. But if I'm lose, I can eat my regular 21 points (and more if I allow myself).

There is a questionaire you fill out that gives you the number of points you will need. 1st, there are certain points for the type of work you do, I have an office job, mainly sitting, so I got 0 points for that. My friend is a housewife and she got 4 pts for her job. Then there is your weight, you take the first two numbers of your weight - when I started WW, my weight was 171, so I got 17 points for my weight. But as your weight drops, so will your points. Mine is is now in the 160's, so I only get 16 now for this part of the questionaire. Then they also give you points based on your age, I'm over 40, I don't think I got any for that. Or I might have gotten 1 or 2 Then if you were male, you got more, and female got a few points. When I started WW I began with 22 points, I'm now down to 21. The most points you can have is 44, and the least is 18. Then everyone gets 35 "extra" points, you can use them or not. They are for special occasions or many people use them. I have been successful pretty much without WW for the past 2 years with my band. I'm down to the last 15lbs to lose and I decided I needed some structure to help me lose the weight. Its going slow, but it is helping me. Everyone is different, it depends on what you like. I was at a point in my life that I needed structure. Many don't like it, but I needed it and I also needed some accountability, so the meetings give me that. Best wishes to you.

Okay, I've been loose for awhile, I make an appointment for a fill and BAM - I'm tight again. What the He*&? I even had reflux last night, first time in ages. Had to get up and sleep on the couch so I could sleep sitting up. I am full after just 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food, perfect restriction for me, however, how long will this last? I guess I will ride it out and see what happens and if it is still tight on 5/18 (my fill appt), then I will have to cancel. So weird how this band is so darn fickle! I am leaving for Cancun next week! (4/22/09) Not sure if I told you guys about it, but I'm going for a 5 day trip with my cousin, she invited me, its totally free for me, she is going with her company for an awards ceramony. Its at an all inclusive, 5 star resort, so I'm just a little pumped up about it. I'm so looking forward to NO KIDS, NO HUSBAND, NO DOG, NO HOUSEWORK, NO WORK, NO PHONE CALLS, NO COMPUTER, NO NOTHING EXCEPT RELAXATION!!!!! I plan on exercising while I'm there, because I know I will eat BAD! Exercise is the most work I plan on doing. I want to relax on the beach with a fruity umbrella drink in my hand! The weather here sucks! I'm so sick of the cold, I'm so ready for spring! So I've got spring fever really really bad, so the trip to Cancun is just what I need. The temp today is 80 degrees there, here in Oklahoma, its 48. Yuck!

Yes, thats funny she brought her bfast in bed. I didn't hear Lori (sp) complain about it.....she loved it! She even told her to "adjust her bed to be a little softer" ofcourse, Kristen offered to do it, Lori jumped right on that one. She liked all that power, even though she complained in the end about having it, I know she really liked it. Tara loved it too. Tara knew she was safe with her partner having that golden ticket. It would have been bad though if she would have fallen below the yellow line. She did good this week with her weightloss. It made me think about Kristen too, she might be the contestant knowone is too worried about and then win the entire thing. She really wants that 250K. She is going to do anything to win it too. She has already broke the record on BL. Who knows what else she is capable of. The other contestants better watch out for her, 'cause I think she in it to win. Tara, well, I would be happy with 3 pounds, but on the show, 3 lbs is not that great. I'm still wondering if she tried to throw it as well. I also am wondering if Tara persuaded her to vote off Sione, and the show just didn't show it. I'm sure there is a lot we don't see behind close doors. Tara knows that Sione is her biggest competition with the challenges. But she usually ends up beating him, its always pretty close. And Ron was right about one thing, he is the contestant that just won't go home! He has been below the yellow line 6 times and still hanging on. I guess because everyone knows he is not a threat. He just rubs me the wrong way. Not sure why but he just does. I guess I don't like all his commands on who it is to go home. I don't like the fact he likes to control everything. Gets on my nerves. I also don't think he tries too hard in the competition. He always just goes so slow, and always saying this or that is the problem. Get over it already. If you have bad knees why the heck did you even come? You know there is a lot of competition on the BL from past seasons. You know he knew that, so why did he even join if he wasn't going to try very hard. And he just has the attitude like "oh well, i can't do it so why try". He could have let his two sons go on the show together and he stayed home, not sure why they didn't do it that way.

I was watching all the players, and Helen actually looks skinny to me. Still has a little pudge on the belly, but she has got some skinny legs. She is rockin. I am still a big Tara fan....And even Sione kinda grew on me when I seen how much he loved his wife & kids and his family. Ron - not so much...I thought it was funny they were calling him Hatchet man. I think he tries to be the father figure, but he needs to just worry about himself and quit controlling everyone. IMO. Mike, well he is just protective of his dad, as any kid would be. I still think he is a cutie and is going to look great when its all over. I can't believe how much he has changed. I just think he needs to not depend on his dad so much, and his dad needs to realize Mike is a big boy and can do this on his own.
-
As Jillian put it, they are all in game mode now. So, as far as the game goes, Sione and Filipe are Tara's biggest threats. I think they believe Tara is their biggest threat too. I think they would have voted Tara off, because its now about the game. I was proud of Kristin, you go girl. She was thinking smart. Can you believe how much the ate? Wow, that was a lot of calories. I was thinking about eating that pretzel, and thinking how that would have made a bandster PB. lol. Its going to be interesting in the end to see who wins. Tara better bring her game on, if she drops below the yellow line, she will be gone! Ron and Mike, oh they are getting a little vicious. I think Helen looks good, she would have been just fine going home, they don't see her as a big threat, but let me tell you, I think she is.

I admit it, he sure did! :glare:

Who does 1/4 cup of food work for?
tonya66 replied to Mrs_Mauricio's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And I know you exercise too. I think that makes a difference. When I am really exercising, my matabolism is racing because I am starving and eat a lot more. The times I've been hurt and couldn't exercise, seems I didn't eat as much. But I have to agree, I've never only eaten 1/4 cup of food. I would passout too I think. I eat around 4 to 6 oz at a meal (less during the day). I just try and make healthy choices and exercise! -
I'm here! Just busy as a bee these days. Weight holding steady at 162 to 164. I bounce back and forth. Man, I can't wait until I get out of the 160's. 155 and I will be at a healthy weight for my height. I did call and make me an appointment for a fill, I go May 18th. I haven't had one in over 6 mos, and I think I need one.

Jaime - question for you to ask Dan - ask him if the trainers (Bob & Julian) tries to influence them on who to vote off? Just curious.

Everyone different I know but...

Okay, I'm an accountant and keep track of EVERYTHING. I'm very anal about numbers and my spreadsheets. lol. I've kept track of my weight, pretty much on a daily basis for the past 15 years. Below is my weight since the band. I'm making progress and getting closer to goal, and it has really gotten harder! My struggles began after I fell and had to have knee surgery, then I was laid up in bed for 6 weeks. I ate all the "pitty me" and "comfort foods" - regained some weight, so now I'm recommited and exercising and its coming off, just slower than it did the first time. Sounds like it is going to be an interesting show tomorrow.

A little about tomorrow's show: Tomorrow night's Biggest Loser is one for the show's history books! A high-calorie temptation gives way to a feeding frenzy where one lucky player wins control of the game. Whoever finds the "golden ticket" hidden somewhere in 100 covered trays of cupcakes, donuts and chips will be the one and only judge at this week's elimination. But does this prize come at a price? How many calories will the players rack up trying to find the ticket? And how hard will it be for the winner to send someone home? From the start, tension and fear fill the house as furious Ron Morelli and son Mike vow to exact revenge on the players who tried but failed to send Ron home last week. Broken alliances, betrayal--some players whisper that it feels like a scene from The Godfather with Don Ron! The famed Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena is the site for this week's grueling physical challenge: contestants must run up and down more than 2,000 stairs in the stadium's bleachers. Whoever comes in first and second place must then turn around and do it again! Trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels, angry at players' indulgences at the temptation, push them in the gym, but for some mighty competitors, it may not be enough to keep them above the yellow line. Oh, and be sure to look for a surprise appearance from a svelte father-daughter team from Season 6!

I've noticed mine has really gotten lose. I am eating more too I think. I think I'm going to go ahead and schedule another fill. I swear I think I have a tiny leak, and if he pulls my fill out and I don't have much, I'm going to demand more test to see if I have a leak! Good for you!!! I always admire those joggers, it always looks so fun and fullfilling when I see someone run. I've always wish I could be one of those runners, but now with my knee problems, I could never do it. But I've read its the fastest way to lose weight! Oh my DH would love to see that! He wakes up from a dead sleep and runs to look out the windo when he hears geese flying over! He is love to hunt the geese, but he also just like to watch them. He goes to Canada every year to do Candian Goose hunting, and then he hunts around our are for Geese and Ducks. But he also just enjoys watching their nature. Sounds like it is a beautiful sight.

Wow, 226, your going down fast! But doesn't sound like its been fun with the GI troubles. I had my Gallblader taken out about 5 years ago. I just woke up in horrible pain and went to ER and they took it out. Very simple. But I had so many gallstones, they had gotten into my duct and causing all kinds of problems. So that is probably why. Hopefully they can get yours out soon, it will make you feel so much better! Keep trying, and just start out slow. Maybe just take your baby for a walk around the block (when it gets nicer outside ofcourse) Thanks, she is doing fine now. They found the blockage and could not put a stint in because the artery is too small. They are going to try and treat it with medication, if that doesn't work, they will probably have to do open heart again, which is what she is hoping they don't do.

Yes, she is a hot momma! 48 and looks that darn good, there ought to be a law about that. lol. I can't believe 1700 cal too, I would gain so much weight on eating 1700 calories. She must have a lot of muscle to matabolize that. She was on oprah yesterday too, same with Marie Osmond and then Star Jones, they all looked so good. Star Jones talked about her WLS. I really can relate to her about keeping it a secret, because I still have kept mine a secret from my family and coworkers. I think they all suspect it, but I have never confirmed it.

You know, I'm not too surprised. I joined WW after doing low carb for so long and my first week joining WW I gained 4 lbs. I followed it to a T, and exercised 6 days and gained. The lady told me that it was not unusual for someone to gain the first week they switch up their routine, or eating pattern, or even exercise pattern. I was shocked that i had gained when I worked so hard. I wish Nicole would have stayed and Ron was sent home, he has had his chance, over and over and over.....
-
Sula, I need to take my measurements again, I haven't in awhile, I took them when I first joined WW, but not since then. I also took them when I started the lapband journey. So glad you got your OOOOO's back..... I lost, but not much. I lost .6 lbs according to the ww scale! I'm glad I lost something because if I hadn't lost anything, I was going to jump over the counter, I warned the lady that it would not be pretty if she said I stayed the same, or worse if she said I gained. I think I scared the poor receptionist! They (the WW people) think I'm on a plateu. They are saying "are you exercising" - UHHHH, Yes! If they had a clue at how hard I exercise, they would't be wondering that. I wanted to slap them for that question. Then they asked "are you sure your staying within your points, are you measuring your food?". They have no clue how hard I've been trying. I measure EVERYTHING. I was craving some chips, so I had some baked lays. 1 oz of chips, I even measured them on my digital scale. I ate exactly 1 oz of baked chips. I even took the entire bag out and measured 1 oz of chips and put them all in seperate baggies, so the next time I want chips, I just grab the little baggie which has exactly 1 oz of chips in it. I haven't had the craving since, so they all sit there. I usually stick to lean meats and fruits. I even gave up my blue cheese dressing for no dressing on my salad, or just 1 teaspoon of FF vingerette. Sometimes I put a little salsa on the salad. I swear, I've been trying so hard. So, I think they are right. I'm at a dreaded plateau....wonder how long it will last? I read up on it yesterday on the internet and they can last for a week, two weeks, or even MONTHS. I don't think I can keep my sanity of it last for months. So far, its been 3 weeks. According to the WW scales I am at 167. My scales are at 163.4. I go by my scales  So - I had planned on doing a grueling exercise last night, but my MIL had to put in the hospital for chest pains so we were up in the ER until 1 am. grrrrr. So tired today. She is going to have a heart cath today. She's already had open heart, so she might be headed in for more surgery. Poor lady, she has been thru so much. Anyhow, I had been reading up alot on breaking plateaus, it says one way is to switch your eating, eat a little bad for a day or two. Well, I took their advice. lol. As we were sitting in the waiting room in the ER, someone was eating McDonalds FF's. Guess what I had an incredible craving for? You guessed it, when we left at 1 am, I had my DH pull thru the drive-thru and McD's and get me a small cheesburgher and MEDIUM FF. Well, the hamburger just doesn't go down very good. It actually hurts to eat it, I know better than that, I've tried hamburger before, and we just don't go together since I've been banded. I didn't PB, I never PB. But it was such a chore to eat, I only ate about 3 bites and passed it to my DH. Now the FF's, I ate them, I ate about 1/2 the FF. Man they were good. AND, I did had a twix candy bar last night. My first splurge in a few weeks, but I was a little down about the scales. And I reasoned with myself to try and break this darn plateau. Today, I am back on track. Ate my yogurt with a handful of granola thrown it for bfast, and just got back from doing 20 min on the elliptical machine. I will do another 20 min later afternoon. Tonight (if we are not stuck at the hospital) I want to work my upperbody and abs - and maybe do another 15 min on elliptical. I'm hooked on that darn elliptical machine...... Okay, I better get to work, its month end and very busy!!!!!!

Well in my previous post, I said I was not going to exercise today, I was taking the day off. I lied. Couldn't stay away from the gym. I only did a quick cardio blast, 30 min on the Elliptical, but hey, at least I did something today, right? I think I'm becoming a gym addict again, I used to be one, then got hurt and had to have knee surgery and ever since then, I just haven't been into the gym like I used to be. I'm really noticing a difference in the past week. I'm wearing a Junior size 9 Cruel girl jeans today, and Dang, they look good, and feel good! Even though I'm just a few pounds lighter, the fat is shifting or something because they sure feel and fit better than they did when I bought them!
