Down to 27 more days until my banding! I've decided to throw out the darn scales, and not weigh any longer. I will weigh once I'm banded and after my first fill to make sure I'm losing the 1-2 lbs per week. I just hate that I'm not losing right now. I'm just stuck at 227, and then I bounce back up to 231 this morning, I have not eaten bad yesterday, did quite well. Oh well, the scales is not a way to measure our success. I'm going to take my measurements this weekend and I will post them. NO MORE SCALES FOR ME UNTIL AFTER MARCH 1. My New Years Resolution!

28 days until banding

Wow, just 28 more looooong days before I am banded. My eating has been okay, last night we went out to eat, and it was kinda weired. Usually I can eat the entire plate and am licking the the juices off the plate, but I only ate about 1/2 of it. My DH said, "your not eating much", and I said, "I'm full". I think he about fell out of his chair. lol. I don't know if I have ever stopped eating when I was full. Ever since that I found out I was approved for the band. I've tried to eat the banster way, not always succeeding, but it is on my mind, take small bites, eat slow, and chew chew chew. Proteins first then veggies. So, even without the band, I'm making some changes. I have taken this surgery very serious and not looking at it as a quick fix, but as a tool. I am going to have to do my part in order to lose this weight. The last few days, exercise has been zippo. I didn't go last night because my mother came over and she lives out of town, so I couldn't just leave her and run to work out. So my DH & I took my mother out for a nice dinner. My mother & I were a bit depressed so DH thought dinner out would be good (what a sweet guy I have :kiss2: ). My Grandmother (who I love like no other) is slowly dying and it is really depressing for my mother & I. My Gma had a very bad stroke April 9, 2004 so because she was crippled, my mother could not take care of her anylonger. She needed 24/7 care and my mom could not lift my grandmother due to my mothers own health problems. So, since I am power of attorney over my Gma, I placed her in a nursing home. My mother & I visit her almost daily and have since she was placed there. But lately, her eating has gone down to about 25% of her food. Hospice informed us yesterday this is the first stages of death. I know my grandmother is in pain and I hate seeing her suffer daily, its just hard knowing that this woman I loved more than anythig in the entire world is about to leave me. And my mom is a big moma's baby too, and she always cared for my gma thru the years, so its hard on my mom too. Anyhow, its just a tough time for my mother & I to endure but I know it has to happen and I know in the long run, death will be so much better for my Grandmother than living like she is. I know she WOULD NOT want to live like this and she has told me that many of times that she never wants to dwindle away in a nursing home, which is exactly what she is doing. I wish I could change it, but I can't. Anyhow, just expressing my emotions today.

Well, I haven't read the book yet, however, I've heard a lot of good things about it. I am going to go look for it on Ebay. Good-luck finding a buddy, I'm sure you will find one. Having a buddy is a great idea!

Maria, sorry you got the stomach thing. doesn't sound fun! Being married for 18 years now, I know how special that 1st anniversary is, so I know you are bummed. Maybe, after surgery and after your post-op, you and DH can go enjoy a lovely evening. I'm sure the cake can survive a few more months. This year, our anniversary (Dec. 10th) fell on a night that we had to attend a friends going away party. Then we were going to celebrate it the next weekend (aunt Flo came early). So the whole anniversary just wasn't like it usually is. I told my DH I'm ready to get the 18th & 19th years over, because the 20th we are taking an Alaskian Cruise!! Something to look forward to for me anyhow. Well, hope everyone is doing okay and have a happy holiday. I have 27 more days until banding and I got my packet in the mail yesterday (kinda freaked me out a bit). Talk to everyone later!

Is The Biggest Loser biased in favor of men?

Okay here is my 2 cents. The biggest loser is strictly based on percentage lost. BUT...........Men usually lose weight faster than women. I think the reason why is women are on far more diets in their life then men, I think women screw their matabolisms up, and men rarely go on a diet, and their matabolisms are just fast than women, therefore, they lose faster. Thats what I think, not sure if its right, but from my experience, men can drop weight so much faster than women, thats the only reason I can think why they can lose faster. thoughts?

Cindy, great advice. I think I am going to do this because I am such a slave to the scales when I'm trying to lose weight. I weigh 4 or 5 times a day and freak out if the scales show I'm up an ounce. So, before I go to surgery, I'm going to have my DH put them in the attic or get them out of the house.

PB's stand for productive burp. Its when food gets stuck and you have to burp it back up. Some even refer to it as throwing up, but it really isn't because the food has not reached the stomache, there is no acid that come with it. It simply is the food coming back up. Happens when you take too big of bites, eat too fast, eat the wrong type of foods, or when you don't chew chew chew.

cold after having surgery

Are you talking about being cold in the recovery room? or cold in general? If you are talking about be cold right after the surgery, that is normal coming out of the anethesea (sp) If you talking about being cold after leaving the hospital or days later, the thing I can think of is weight loss. When I start losing weight (even 20lbs) my body starts to change temperature wise. I get colder easier too, then my body adjust then I'm fine, then I lose more, and I'm back to being cold. I'm not banded yet, so I'm not an expert about the symptoms about being banded, so if there are some out there that have had the coldness, what do you think?

The day I got approved, I was so excited, then I totally FREAKED OUT. I thought OMG, what am I doing? I know it is the right decision, but its scary too. Your whole way of eating is about the change, so its a big decision. I think what you are feeling is perfectly normal. If you know its for you, forget about everyone else (I have), and make YOUR choice. Only YOU can decide. Its YOUR body, YOUR decision.

My DH is not overweight at all, but he has gotten flabby in his older age, I guess he is skinny fat if that makes sense. I am noticing this more, and I've asked him to go the gym with me a few times. He never does. However, he did tell me the other day he will start next year - not sure why he is putting it off, but at least he is making a commitment. When we met 21 yrs ago, I weighed 135 and thru our marriage years, when I porked out, he always encouraged me to lose weight, and would be my biggest cheerleader when I lost. He would even buy me new clothes for every 10 lbs I lost. But the last few years, he has said nothing, no encouragment to lose weight, nothing said about my weight at all. When I told him about the WLS, he said he was actually happy for me because he has seen me struggle all these years, and knows how hard I've tried to lose weight. I think he finally realized a few years ago how hard it is for me to lose weight so he just accepted me for what I looked like and my weight. I am always shocked that he has stuck with me and still treated me and loved me the same fat or skinny. I do think if I had been fat when we met, he would have not ever even approached me. I am not attracted to overweight people, however, I guess if your married to someone, you love them for no matter what and your attraction is deeper than the skin.

I agree, I only want them done under flouro also. I know some doctors are great and can do it without, but I just don't trust them without the flouro. I'm also getting a low profile port, so my port is smaller and will be harder to fill so fill will need to be done under flouro for sure.

I have UHC Insurance and I have been approved for the surgery - YAY. I get my surgery on 1/18/07 (my choice to wait until January). The frist 3 months are basically covered with the price of surgery. My question is, there is not a CPT code for fills and I was wondering if they generally pay for fills? I have to 90/10 plan, where I pay 10%, $100 deductible, $1000 max out of pocket expense. How does the fills work with insurance? Do they pay? Do you pay 10%, do you pay a copay or what? Just wanting to know if anyone had experience with the insurance company I am using.....

I feel the same way. I have failed so many times. Or the biggest thing for me is, I lose a lot of weight and get all these compliments, then POOF, the weight is right back on. I know people are probably sick of seeing my yo-yo. It is embarassing to me. So, I am keeping quiet about this, I want to make sure it is going to work for me before I tell anyone about it. I have trouble picturing me skinny again, and staying skinny.

Cindy, you have done remarkably well. I cannot wait until I'm in the 170's for sure!!! I'm sure come February, a lot of us will be having so many questions regarding the band, you'll get tired of anwering them for us. lol. The weird thing about me is I haven't had the "last super" syndrome, I've actually gotten to the point that food is not that big of deal. I think because I've been on the last super syndrome for the past 40 years, lol. I actually have been trying to watch what I eat, I've had a few slips during the holiday, but for the most part, I've been doing pretty good. Down 20 lbs since my doctor consultation. yay! Only 80 more to go! I told myself I was going to stay away from LBT today and get some work done, but i'm on my lunch sitting at my desk, so I just had to check in. only 29 more days until my banding date!

29 more days until my banding!!!! I did not make it the gym last night. My daughter had a concert at school, so by the time that got over with, I just didn't have the energy. So, I must get there tonight. Eating was off yesterday, didn't do that bad, but didn't do that great either. However, I knew I was going to eat what I want, and try and make wise choices, so I am not feeling guilty. Anyhow, I'm back on track today!!!!
