    January Bandsters???

Before I had surgery, I spoke to my anethesiologist (sp?) and told her about the horrible gas pains I had with my gall bladder, she said she would do a little extra to me to get all the gas out. And I am happy to say, I have not struggled with it. I have taken gas-x one time and now I'm over it. For all the future bandsters in the next few days, talk to your doc and ask them to make sure they push all the gas out they can. I feel for all you guys with the gas pains, I know it is horrible. I have 2 more days and I can start mushy's - I can't wait!

Thanks Chrissie - your such a sweetheart! I have THREE more days of liquids and I'm counting the days down very eagerly. I don't think I will ever drink another cup of broth after this, LOL.

    January Bandsters???

*******UPDATE*************** I have went back to the very 1st page and under my post I have added the new January Bandster list. I will try and keep it updated. I emailed Angy (Jen) to update it, but I haven't seen her around. I hope she is doing okay. I noticed she hasn't been online since 1/17. I'm a little worried about her. Anyhow, to all new bandsters, please review my list on the FIRST page and see if I missed anyone.

    January Bandsters???

Thats EXACTLY what it sounds like to me. Be very careful. Take smaller bites, and chew even more. Wait a little longer between bites. Some even have to go on liquids for 24 hours after a PB because it can irritate the band/stomach.

    January Bandsters???

I suffered for about a week, it has since gone away. I still have 4 more days of liquids and haven't experienced anymore problems, so just hang in there.

How are all the okies? I had my surgery and am 9 days post op. I am starting to feel really good, but I miss food - very badly. I want something to chew, my doctor still has me on Clear liquids. I can start mushy foods on 2/1 so I'm looking forward to that. My weight loss is really fast right now, and I suspect it will slow down soon once I start eating. Hope everyone is doing okay and it sounds like we survived the ice storm.

    January Bandsters???

Man, I'm am so sick of BROTH, protein shakes etc. I've been doing them for 12 days now and still have 5 more days! I get to go to Mushie next Thursday and I am counting the days. My doctor still won't let me have meat, but I can have refried beans, cottage cheese, soft egg, no hot sauce, yogurt, and I am even looking forward to cottage cheese. Sherilynn, I hope everything goes okay, please let us know after your cardiologist visit. Also, maillady2, I added you to the master list, and I've sent an email to Angy (the starter of this thread) to update her original post. She should update in a day or two.
  10. Today is day 8 Post op. I am feeling better and better everyday. I was having a lot of blurred vision and a lot of pain on my left side (port side). I seem to be feeling better in the mornings, but in the evenings the pain is a little worse, not sure why? Still not back at work yet, and probably won't go back until another couple of weeks. I'm still on clear liquids and I am wanting food. I'm really not hungry, I just desire food. But I WILL NOT CHEAT! I have 5 more days of clear liquids and then I will begin my mushy stage. I can have refried beans on that day, and I am really looking forward to refried beans! I'm losing very quickly right now, not sure if that is good or bad. My doctor told my I hold the record of any of his Lap band patients for losing the most amount of weight from the time of my first visit to the first visit after surgery. He also wants me to be in his calendar for 2008 if I continue to lose. How exciting. I'm down 33 lbs now since my very first visit with the doctor. What have I done? I've simply followed the lap band rules. Simple. I'm feeling very excited about this journey!

    January Bandsters???

Okay - I'm finally BACK. For all the new Members, I have sent and email to Angy (jen) to update her first post with all the new members. And let me tell you, I spent the last hour and a half going thru over 35 pages and I think I got everone, but if I missed anyone let me know. Hopefully Angy will update the list soon. I noticed she hasn't been online since the 17th, hope she is doing okay. I kinda stayed off the board, was feeling really down and didn't want to bring anyone down with me. I was in a lot of pain and still have a small bit of it today, but not near as bad as before. My vision kept coming and going, my blood sugar was dropping low, then I would drink apple juice to bring it back up. Its been a vicious circle for me. I'm still off work, and there is still no way I could sit at my desk all day. I seem to feel great in the mornings, but as the evening comes around I am experiencing pain. Okay enough of the down side, let me tell you some exciting news. Yesterday I went to see my surgeon, as I was sitting there in his office, he walked in with his hands held out to shake my hand, and he had the biggest smile on his face. he told me I hold the record for losing the most weight for so fast for the first visit of any of his lap band patients ever. Ofcourse he is taking the beginning weight when I first went to see him - but he does that with all his paiteints, and most gain before surgery, however, I tried to lose. Then he asked if I would like to be in his calendar for 2008? Me a calendar girl? Wow. He told me if I keep up my progress he wants me to come back in June and talk to him, he will start the calendars for 2008 in August and he wants me to be in it if I continue to lose. So, I've got a little motivation. He also wants me to be in a fashion show in October they put on. I feel like a superstar and all I've done is follow their direction. I'm down to 215 lbs now. I need to change my stats. According to the doctor, I've lost 33 lbs. In my books, since surgery I've lost 13 lbs, I think that is pretty good for 8 days. However, I'm trying not to focus so much on the weight loss right now but healing and getting better. The doctor is the one making a big deal out of my weight loss. lol. Anyhow, now that my vision is FINALLY BACK - I will check in more. Hope everyone is doing okay.

    Day 3 post op

Today makes the 3rd day after my surgery. My soreness is still there and I notice it, however, it has gotten better. I was able to get off the couch by myself this morning. My vision is the only thing really worrying me right now, it is all blurred. I am cutting out the demoral pain meds to see if that will help. I'm supposed to go have a lasik consultation on my eyes in a couple of days, and my vision being so blurred, not sure If I can do it. I would say my pain level is around a 4 right now, and I notice when I take deep breaths I can feel the air going down, it hurts a bit, but not too bad. My eating has been minimal. I can only sip a little on the broth, and I'm pretty much living off of sugar free popcicles right now to keep my hydrated. I'm also sipping on my water all thru out the day. I weighed this morning just for the heck of it, but no more after this morning. My DH & daughter are going to hide the scales from me until 6 weeks is up. Anyhow, my weight this morning was 222.8. So, I'm glad I'm finally losing the surgery weight, I was 3 pounds over when I cam home from the hospital. Well, I'm off to walk down my hallway to get me a little exercise.

    Question for anyone or DR.

Just to update everyone, my vision is returning. I can see a great improvement today from yesterday. It is still not 100% back, but almost!
  15. Hello, I just had my surgery Thursday, 1/18/07. I noticed yesterday (2 days post op) I had blurred vision. My telephone rang and I looked at the caller ID to see who it was and I couldn't read it. I had to take my glasses off and then hold it right to my face to see it. I'm just a tad worried. I'm taking demoral pain meds, and I'm wondering if it would be the pain meds that is causing the blurred vision? It is still blurred today, I can't see the computer unless I stick my face right up to it. Will this go away? I'm supposed to have lasik while I'm off work and with this blurred vision, it might not happen. Any suggestions? I've stopped taking the pain meds and will just stick with tylenol for now.

    January Bandsters???

Hello everyone. My vision is slowly coming back. I can see great improvement today! I'm so excited, I was really freaking out last night. I am still pretty sore around the port area, and cannot walk straight yet, I am still humped over a bit due to the pain. I was hoping to be one of those with NO pain. There is no way I could go back to work today. I'm glad I'm taking two or three weeks off. My short term disability called me the day of the surgery and told me I was approved to be off until 2/11/07. That is almost FOUR weeks. However, I feel too guilty to take off that long. So, I'll probably be back in two weeks. I have a lot of catching up to do on the board, but I'm just not up to sitting up that long right now, so It will take me a few days to catch up on all the post, update the master list, etc. I am on a clear liquid diet for TWO WEEKS, sucks. I can have protein shakes but that is the only non clear thing I can have. I've been trying to get my water down, and sipping on it all day long. I feel like I'm losing weight, but who wouldn't with not eating. I'm dealing with a little head hunger, I sure would like some refried beans with extra cheese and some salsa. HOWEVER, I am not hungry and I cannot have them yet. I'm shocked at how little I can eat. Three or four sips of broth and I'm done. Well, hopefully by tomorrow I will be better at seeing everything and can start going to the gym.

    January Bandsters???

This morning the vision is a little better, but not completely okay. I still can't see with my glasses, or anything up real close is just a blur. But I can barely see the computer today and yesterday I couldn't, so I think my vision is improving. I'm not as sore today either as I was yesterday, however, still sore. I'm weaning myself off the pain meds and jsut going to take the liquid tylenol for now. To all the new bandsters, as soon as I am well enough to see the computer, I will get everyone new added to the master list. Well, I think I am going to go for a walk up and down my hallway, too icey outside to walk. I need to start moving, I've been laying around too much.

    January Bandsters???

Hey all, I have a quick question for anyone, did any of you experience blurred vision? I can't even see the computer right now. I'm typing blindly, really weird. I'm wondering if its the pain meds?

    Day 1, post op

Well, I checked into the hospital yesterday at 11:00 am, They finally came to get me for surgery a little after 1:00 pm. But they didn't start on my until around 2. My blood sugar was really low, and since I had my surgery late in the afternoon, they kept me at the hospital. I was finally realeased the next day at around 7:00 pm CST. I'm glad to be home, however, still haveing quite a bit of soreness. Hopefully this will go away soon. I weighed the day of my surgery so I could track my weight after surgery. My weight going into surger was 226.0.

    January Bandsters???

Hello everyone, its official, I'm now with the band! I just got home about an hour ago from the hospital. I had a few complications, but nothing major. I had my surgery at 2:00 pm yesterday. I'm still pretty sore, can't get out bed without my DH help. Just took another pain pill, so hopefully it will kick in. They kept me in the hospital and finally released me tonight. My blood sugar dropped really low, so that is one of the reasons they kept me. I'm mainly sore around the port area, and still have some of those gas pains. Anyhow, I'm headed back to bed, just checking in to let everyone know that I made it!
  24. Tomorrow is my day! I'm so excited, I'm nervous a bit, and I'm anxious. I'm anxious to get it over with! I will have to be at the hospital at 11:00 am, my surgery time is not until 1:00. The only thing I am worried about is my low profile port. I hope they ordered it!

    January Bandsters???

You should aim to get at least 64 oz per day. The more water the better in my book! However, did you guys hear about the lady who was in a "water drinking" contest and died yesterday? Evidently she died from Water intoxication? She was in some contest where you had to drink a lot of water without going to the bathroom. It was a sad story, she was only 28 yrs old, had 3 kids. I haven't gotten the entire story yet, but it was on the news and everyone at work was talking about it. I never new water could be deadly? I guess the fact she wasn't going to the restroom was the big factor.
