UGHH, I'm Dizzy! HELP!
nkitajolie replied to shibalover's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey...this is exactly what i was getting ready to post! I'm about a week and a half out and have been slowly incorporating mushies into my liquids. But I still feel like I'm not getting enough Protein and calories and wondering if maybe that's why I'm so dizzy. I was dizzy before I went to work today, but then being in a prison with no windows in my office and no air conditioning with 90 degree weather...well, you can understand why I left early. Anyway I too was wondering if anyone else was real dizzy; I can't concentrate on my homework or anything else. It's so crazy :Dancing_biggrin: -
Just Kidding!! I got banded on Tuesday the 25th as planned, actually earlier b/c the dr had a cancellation, but I'm feeling pretty good. My homegirl came down to take care of me for a couple days, and my friends and family (even the ones who weren't in favor of the band) have been pretty awesome. I didn't even need the pain meds they gave me. The most annoying thing has been the gas pain but the incisions seem to be healing up nicely so I'll be happy when I'm really up and about again, and can get into a serious exercise routine. Hope everyone else is doing well, too.

Thanks! I'm doing a little better today; a lot less gassy and i went for a 20 minute walk with my dad too. it was a little hard, but not too painful. the most annoying thing has been being a side-sleeper forced onto my back. every time i want to get up i feel like there should be someone behind me going "turrrtle, turrrtle" lol

Anybody w/ Locs...Did you lose hair?!
nkitajolie posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah...I've finally gotten my hair to grow past my shoulders by loc-ing for the last 2 1/2 years and now I'm hearing about hair loss. I'm 25 and my hair, while "kinky" or "nappy" or w/e you wanna call it (it's a really tight curl), is pretty thin, and I was wondering if anyone was loc'd and had any news for me (good or bad). I'm trying not to freak out, but my hair is one of the few things about my appearance that I like, lol:hurt: -
All I have eaten today
nkitajolie replied to Nean4488's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
blech. on day 3. my multivitamins from BA made me sick so i think i'm going w/ flintstones or something. had pre-op dr's appointment where i got an ekg, mini physical, and blood drawn. don't think that helped since i can't eat but what can ya do? they wanted me to go get a chest xray too but i couldn't do the hour-long wait thing. that's soooo not in the cards today so i have to go early in the morning. and STILL trying to get over this cold. sorry for whining but i'm just really hoping i feel better tomorrow. hope everyone else is doin better than me  -
Countdown to surgery and beginning of pre-op diet
nkitajolie replied to palmtreegirl70's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Really I meant to quote your siggy...only 3 days pre-op diet?! :smile2: Jealous Face!! -
Oooooooh crap  i was really hoping not to have to deal with this because I have extremely painful cramps. I have a Rx for naproxen from my doc for them and still have to double the dosage for some semblance of relief. But naproxen's an NSAID, right? And I know they don't want us taking those--pre- or post-op--because of the risk of ulcers (and thus erosion) :crying: I really hope I'm not going to be unintentionally laid up before surgery even gets here. I think I'm just gonna put in my next Nuvaring after I take this one out and hope I can get 3 more weeks w/o TOM (or Aunt Rose, if you prefer) visiting

All I have eaten today
nkitajolie replied to Nean4488's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel awful today too, but it's cuz I'm on day 3 of the first cold I've had in at least a year. Which I came down with, ironically, after I'd started taking a handful of Vitamins and supplements. But it may have curbed my appetite so I guess it's an even exchange. I'm ready for mushies too! There's a place a little ways from my house called clementine's that makes this yummy lobster pate, and a range of charcuterie, including something called "shrimp butter"... ahhhh the things we appreciate when we can't have them lol -

NEAN!! You're a lifesaver, girlie, and I bet you don't even known it I'm here having all these doubts and second thoughts on the first day of my pre-op diet, but I'm glad to hear from you though about how you're doing. I'll be happy to get all my Protein and eventually be less hungry. Today's going pretty well tbh, but it's the head-hunger...I've had to stop reading a book describing ppl pigging out on Mickey D's :crying: and switch to watching a show about serial killers lol. And I still have my s/f fudge pops to look forward to... Just trying to hang in there, for reals... -

wow...that's strong of you. well done!! mine has to be started on tuesday. in the middle of 3 days of inservice meetings for my job. in a prison. the stress is crazy but if i only take stuff i can have i should be ok (guess there's one good thing about salary reductions: i don't have money to go buy food i'm not supposed to have lol)
-

I was just watching an infomercial that looked like it might help: Marie Windsor's new pilates system with the resistance tool. I've never done pilates, personally, but I will when I've lost some weight and want to tighten and tone my skin, too.

trouble coming out of the anesthesia????
nkitajolie replied to Stacey627's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's body is different. I have to meet w/ the anesthesiologist to discuss some potential issues I might have, myself. I've never been under, but my sister has. She had some kind of kidney procedure--not even surgery--and she was supposed to wake up about 10 minutes after it was over. 10 hours later  she finally comes out of it. They determined that she has a rare condition called atypical pseudocholinesterase deficiency:blink:. Basically, she is deficient in the enzyme that processes some anesthetics like succinylcholine. I have to see if I have it as well, since it's genetic. That's pretty much the only thing I'm worried about, though. -
protein shake recipe!

Still trying to get myself ready for my pre-op diet, which I start on Tuesday (alllllllllll liquiiiiiiiiiiiiids ) and started taking vitamins and Biotin and b12 already too. I can't wait!! Blessings, and hopefully we can keep in touch since we're in the same area. Sort of

Guess what, guys??
nkitajolie replied to nkitajolie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It feels great! Everything is just so full of potential right now lol... I'm not just doing this for cosmetic reasons--although those are important too  I want to be a special agent with the FBI and I'm learning another language, going back to school for my SECOND master's, and I paid of ALL my credit cards. But I realized a couple months ago that it'll all be for nothing if I can't pass a stinkin PFT !! Sooooo...I figured I'm not gonna get done in 13 months (about length of application process) what I haven't been able to do in 13 years without a little help. So wish me good providence; I am SO READY!! :blushing: -
Monday is the big day and soooo nervous!!!!!
nkitajolie replied to jen36's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not gonna lie: I'm having a "Last Supper Month" I even made it an event on FB and invited the friends that know I'm getting banded. I want to enjoy things that I haven't tried w/o worrying about restriction, etc. before I have to go on liquids and mushies and then can only eat a little at a time. Also (I'm not really nervous about this but) everyone seems to think I'm going to be the ONE person in 10,000 (or w/e the statistic) to die. LOL  I know I prob shouldn't laugh at their concern but I feel like it's more about scaring me out of it b/c they think I'm making the wrong choice:scared2:. But so far, I'm not really nervous... -
What was the most difficult to get used to post-op?
nkitajolie replied to Lch8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh boy...now that's gonna freak me out. I have locs and it would be VERY unfortunate if my hair started falling out. hopefully the fact it's locked into my head will help and not hurt my cause.
