Scars, Scaring and what to do about them
sslouha replied to Sakura04's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sakura: Hi I use bio oil as well and my scars are starting to deminish. There is also Kole Kope (I think that is how it is spelled) Good luck! S -
Hi x96: Congrats on your new way of life. Is it going to be easy NO, will you have challenges, YES. But the only way you are going to learn is by making some choices which at the time will be fine then the scale will tell you different. Right now number one priority is healing, you may want to try the Whey protein shots, the are 2.4 ounces and taste good. You had an ice cream during the liquid stage, guess what so did I and it tasted good! Just because you had that does not mean you should feel guilty, what you should do is prepare yourself for when it can happen again, and believe me it will. Chalk it up to experience and go on, healing is the most important thing you will do and you will gain weight and that is ok so go on and enjoy your band. This band is a tool, you can eat of everything but in moderation once you have your fills, you will be able to have better control. Don't let anyone chastice you because you made the wrong choice you did what you could with what you had available. Could it have been better yes, but guess what sometime life unexpected stresses happen. Go on and have a great band life Good Luck! S:biggrin: Good luck Sandee

Allergic to Whey Protein
sslouha replied to MrsGonk's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't like the Protein Drinks period because it has milk and I am just not a fan of milk. I found these protein shots in fruit punch, not that bad and I can do it! Try them they are worth it! Sandee -

Darcien: The best advise is the heating pad or walking, it does not have to be around the house would suffice. Congratulations on your new life! Sandee -
Ok first deep breath, your freaking out and that is not good! Yes this is the right thing that will help you reach what ever goal you choose! Second the reason you can't diet and exercise is because you know as well as I do that it is hard, your not lazy your productive, but this is something that you can't control. The band will help you get that control over your life, will it be easy no, but nothing worth having ever comes easy! I am 5'3 I was 260, I had the band placed on 4/7/10 I am down 25 lbs, but I am twice your age so things for me will be a bit slower, you my darling with go through this fast! It will be worth it, for your health because you definitely don't what to be my age struggling with your weight, so relax and congratulations on this life changing decision which you will see it is the best thing you could ever do for yourself! Send me a message in here, or add me as a friend, if you need to talk. Good Luck! Sandee

Having Difficulties getting on track...
sslouha replied to Celestial's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
David: 100 lbs you should be celebrating Congratulations. I think you need to ease up a bit, granted 5 lbs can be too much for some, but you have really done well and if you gained 5 lbs it could be from working out remember muscle weighs more and maybe your body is in starvation mode or last but not least, you might have drank to much Water and it could be water weight. You are an inspiration to many, keep up the good work! Good Luck! Sandee -

Hello! Welcome to a very exclusive club.:scared2: We have all been were you are, all you need to do is to concentrate on healing. Your gas will go away in about 2 or 3 more days and your stomach will go down in another 6 weeks then you can concentrate on the task at hand. Remember to walk and pamper yourself. :w00t: You know what you just did is to change your life, I was thinking the same thing and I still do, but I have to say I will never regret it!:tongue2: Take Care Sandee -

Diet Progression
sslouha replied to retiredlinda47's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations: You are doing fine, as long as your meeting your daily protein intake, when you start eating yes you can have scrambled eggs make sure that it is soft mushy. In this phase just make sure that all you eat is soft, you will get tired of this food just be patient. Also remember to concentrate on healing if you gain weight it is ok, right now all you want to do is just heal. Good luck! Sandee -
1st fill 3 days ago - is being super gassy normal?
sslouha replied to Katy517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Katy: I was filled on Monday and I am going through the same thing, but as the days go by it seems that my restriction is not as good as before, but this happens. I find my stomach grumbling like thunder and lighting..lolol Good luck Sandee -
Hi! Congratulations on your new journey! To answer your question the answer is NO! the most you should do is walk, if you exercise like weights or aerobics you can really damage the port and the cord to the port. So please all of you take it easy these 6 weeks are for healing and making sure your band heals well! We have all been there that we want to get going but right now you are in the most important stage of this process and that is to heal properly! Good Luck! Sandee

10 days Post op and down 22 POUNDS and feeling GREAT!
sslouha replied to ChocolateDream81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Dana: I want to first say I am sorry if I sounded mean or offensive that was not my intent. Sometimes reality can get away from us and I see your feet are firmly planted on the ground. Now thank you I can't drink the Protein drinks because the grit just makes me puke! (TMI sorry) but I had no clue of the bullet shot, that for me would be great because it would mean one shot and I am done! So thanks and good luck on your journey. Please add me to your friends page :cursing: Thanks Sandee -
I want to bring this up, because I am finding that there are some people that feel that if they are with a doctor that is rude and mistreat them, they feel they should stay with that doctor. Lets make something very clear you or your insurance pays the Doctor, they are giving you a service you do not need to put up with rudeness nor should you. Some of these doctors have the God complex and feel that they can say or do anything so you should put up with it! DON'T! YES they are helping you but you are ultimately the one who is helping him/her pay their bills! Now don't get me wrong some Doctors take it personal when we don't loose weight and get upset and that is ok, however, when it comes to you needing your doctor because you are hurting or your uncomfortable the last thing you need is to be told that you can't be seen immediately that you need to wait 2 weeks REALLY??? No you are the customer you are paying you need to demand satisfaction if they don't give it to you, you can go somewhere else. Do your homework find out who the doctor is, just because they have TV commercials does not make the good. Check them out, do your homework, visit their office just go in see how the patients are doing in the waiting room sit ask questions, nothing wrong with that, when you go to buy a car do you buy it without a test drive? Take Care of you, YOU are the one in control not them! This journey is suppose to be a positive yet a challenging one! Take it one day at a time, love yourself and make sure others are loving you and respecting YOU! Good Luck on this wonderful, beautiful Journey!

Is it normal to feel scared/worried/insecure?
sslouha replied to spoiltmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok take a deep breath! First congratulations on wanting a better life. When we begin to think about this we all are apprehensive somewhat so no problem there. I would suggest that you and your husband be the only ones that know about the band till you feel strong enough to talk to your other family members. They never need to know your private thoughts or actions to better yourself. So poo poo on them if they can't be empathetic in your time of need for their support. Do you really want their support? Just concentrate on what you have to do, when the time comes and you have had the procedure if you want you can tell them, but honestly they are not paying nor helping in this time why tell them anything. I have a number of band friends and we all agree we tell who we feel comfortable telling, even on Facebook we never bring it up. So get started on this exciting and fabulous journey~ Take heart you are going to do wonderful and as far as anyone needs to know you are eating healthy and exercising, you just have a bonus with the band that helps you! Take Care Sandee -
How can I break a plateau?
sslouha replied to NurseKatie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Be careful with sugarfree stuff if it is splenda or truvia they are a derivative of sugar and it will break down like a carbs do. Just concentrate on low carb, high Protein good luck! -
Sweet spot but not losing weight?
sslouha replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats that is awesome, you may want to look at the type of exercise that you are doing, because if you are doing the same thing your body is use to it so hence your plateau. From what I have been told you have to change up your exercise routine weekly or if not you will hit the plateaus. Talke with a trainer at the gym they can give you a more information. I went ahead and ordered the Bodybugg, I hear great things about it, not only does it let you know the calories you burn or that you consume it will let you know which exercise you have burned the most calories. Check it out! Sandee -
I am excited I just ordered my bodybugg:tt1::ohmy:! Yeah and I got if for an excellent price 189 with 6 months subscription and the phone coach. I should get it Tuesday since Monday is a holiday UGH:cursing:! But thats ok it will be here soon enough:thumbup:! I can't wait! I will let you know how I do! Sandee

10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
sslouha replied to Leona06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Mimi: First of all you are not a failure, infront of anyone, as for your friends and family inform them how it works, that this is not a overnight success and it takes time, show them the pics of different women and men here who have lots tons of weights and it was no over nite! As for gaining, it happens and you are not alone, until you find your sweet spot you will fluctuate and that is ok! Concentrate on what you want and how you feel! This is about you not your friends or family if they so much tell you anything negative then they were never supporting you from the beginning! You are not alone we are all behind you,we have all been where you are and we have and will have our success and failures and that is fine because this is a learning experience and a tool to facilitate our weight loss goal! Take Care Sandee -
Congratulations! On your new journey! From what you are describing it is your port:cursing:, give it sometime it needs to heal, I had the same issue with burning sensation. As for your pee, did you have a cath put in? What you may want to do to go back to a regular flow is the next time you have to go, put your hand in some warm Water. this will get your bladder back to it where it needs to be. (this is an old army trick and it worked for me, when I had a C section) Good luck Sandee

10 days Post op and down 22 POUNDS and feeling GREAT!
sslouha replied to ChocolateDream81's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your success:thumbup:, I don't want to dampen your spirit but I want you to be realistic. Right now you are in the Pre Op stage, you are healing, you may gain some weight or get stuck and that is ok:tongue:. Once you have your first fill you will be a different person and you will really be able to give it your all in everything. Do not get discouraged if anything does not pan out as you planned or your body is not reacting as you want it to, this happens, it is a learning experience and you go on and try different things that work for you. I have met a few people on here who become upset and want to give up if their body is not looking like they thought or the scale is not where it should be!~ Everyday will prove to be a challenge just meet it head on with the same enthusiasm you have right now! I am in the same journey with you and believe me I am pumped up but I am also keeping it real, because sometimes our success goes to our head and we forget from where we came from and where we are going! Keep it up! Take Care and enjoy the journey! -
First of all Congratulations on your new way of life:thumbup:, now for the rest! Please Please Please take this post op time as recovery you have to heal don't worry about what your eating as long as your eating healthy. I was weighing myself and the doctor said that as long as I was eating healthy just to concentrate on healing. You have no restriction because you stomach was swollen and that is starting to subside. Keep walking and eating healthy and you will get there. Once you have your first fill, then you can look at restriction and why you have plateaus. For right now just relax and pamper yourself:wub:~ PSS remember if you have to little calories your body will go in starvation mode and if you do the same exercise your body will get use to it and you'll be stuck so patience Sandee
