I had been obese all of my life.  On 6-25-02 I had my band surgery.  I started out at a weight of 357 and lost down to 150 lbs.  I was stupid and didn't go to Dr on a regular basis to check the band and as a result, fluid seeped out of the band and I started gaining weight again, not knowing it was leaking (normal occurance).  When I did go back to Dr for a fill I then started having heart burn and found I had a hiatal hernia.  All fluid was removed for the surgery.  I then started having the fluid put in again but before moving across the state had a fill that was way too much and had to have it all removed again.  The first time I went to the Dr. in the new location, I lost all confidence in him when he was feeling for the port and said "that feels too big for the port."  I told him, "that is my ribs".  Shouldn't a Dr be able to tell it was ribs?  And because of new insurance, it would not cover my fill fees, so it was self-pay and I could not afford $250 for each fill.  I wound up gaining 94 lbs back and now am going back to the original surgeon (even though I have to drive 300 miles) for the fills and am starting to get back on track.  I am determined to get back down to 150 lbs where I felt great.
