Just had a very minimal fill done last week and the dr mentioned I may have had a slippage~ but we will monitor it. Been having indigestion, reflux and heartburn over the past few days, really having a hard time keeping anything down, no matter how small my bites are and how much I chew. Last night even had problems with liquids, kept waking up "choking" from reflux....could the band be too tight or slipped more? I'm hungry but so scared to eat. Going to try mashed potatoes today, I don't even think about trying meat or healthy veggies at this point. Any suggestions? Don't want the Fluid removed from my band, but don't want to cause more problems by not doing anything.

Hi Excitedmama~ You're actually doing really well if you're already down 25lbs. I was banded April 16 and to date I'm only down 32 lbs....I'm very happy to be down that much but thought I would be down a lot more. My company relocated me from Georgia to Tennessee about a month after my surgery so I had to find a doctor here to do my fills...found one a couple months after I moved here. I'm averaging weight loss of about 4-6lbs a month. I figure the slower I lose it the better I am, I won't have sagging skin and will keep it off longer. Drinking water and walking are my new "best friends." Don't get discouraged, keep up the great work and you'll get there! -
You're welcome New_Journey! Congratulations on taking such a brave step!!! Again, liquids, liquids, liquids!!! When you start protein shakes I found soy protein worked better for me than whey protein....not sure why. My favorite shake now is made out of EAS chocolate soy protein powder with vanilla soy milk and a teaspoon of creamy peanut butter....whip it all together with ice in the blender...YUM YUM YUM!!!!! It tasted like manna from Heaven when I could move from clear liquids to smoothies/shakes. Also, make sure you take your vitamins~ I am not a vitamin person so I've always taken 2 Flintstone chewables:tongue: I know you'll do great! Once again, Congrats!!!!

AWESOME!!!! Congratulations~ I know exactly how you feel~ I'm actually one week postop and although the first few days were rough, I'm happy I had the procedure done. I went in for my post op check yesterday and I'm down 12lbs......YIKES! YIPPPPEEEEE!!!! Hang in there, you may feel like you've been hit by a truck the first few days but it will all be worth it. Make sure you drink all the gatorade and broth you can the first week! Sooooo very important.

Wooohoooooo.......one week postop and I'm down 12lbs. I can't believe it!!!! Must admit I'm a little concerned about losing so much so quickly, don't get me wrong I like being 12lbs lighter, just don't want to lose too much too fast. The first week has been a little challenging~ pretty much a low grade fever daily, pain under my rib cage and not really taking in as much fluids/protein as I need to be. I've been walking at least two times a day for at least 30-45 minutes at a time, so getting my exercise in. Started eating creamy soups last nght.....Hello beautiful clam chowder~ where have you been all my life? With your velvety creaminess, your succulent clams and filling potatoes. You are manna from Heaven! Feeling some better, back to work today but completely wiped out. I know this will all be worth it in a few months but yes~ I've had buyers remorse....not as bad now, but most definitely the first few days. I'm craving a salad like you wouldn't believe! Yes, I'm one of those few people that loves salad....with no dressing.

1st Day of 2 Week Pre-Op Liquid Diet

Not sure if it's "legal" but maybe add a teaspoon of peanutbutter to the shake. It may give a little more flavor, take away the sweetness or at least make it taste better. -

Happy Trucker~ I'm right there with you, no family or true support group. I'll be having my band in a few weeks and I'm incredibly nervous. I go in on April 5th to do all the pre-op stuff and start the sugar buster diet. Maybe we'll meet at one of the meetings....when are they? Also, anyone out there that has had problems with acid reflux? A friend of mine had the band 2yrs ago and has had serious issues~ so much to the point that he is now on meds for the esophogeal erosion. What causes the reflux? Are there certain foods to avoid that will prevent it? -

Hi everyone~ it appears that these posts are from a couple years ago and I'm curious to know how everyone is doing. Have you kept the weight off? Have any of you had problems with slipping, port leakage, port flipping, erosion of the esophogus? I haven't had the surgery yet and I'm starting to have second thoughts after reading different posts. Were/are y'all able to eat fruit and vegetables? Did it cause you problems when you did?
