Hey all its me chocolate Dream 81.
Today was my first fill appt. I was banded on May 17th 2010. I went in a little nervous but not too much. My Dr. came in and told me step by step what he was going to do... he gave me the numbing shot then the big needle went in and he drained it to see how much saline was in there then he put 3 ccs in. I immediately felt my heart flutter and began to have a slight panic attack... wow am I crazy?? I asked him was it normal to feel faint of heart and he told me I was fine, I guess to calm me down. Anyway I sipped the Water fine afterwards and left his office... on the way home my mom was driving and I yelled to her to pull over on the side of the freeway so I could get out cause my left arm was tingling and I thought I was having a heart attack... now please remember I am the same girl who had the big ordeal on my surgery morning where I told the surgeon I was not going to go through with it after they had wheeled me in the OR. I don't know if it was my nerves getting the best of me or what but I still feel my heart fluttering every couple hours now.. and I am back home... My mom says its cause I am haivng a panic attack episode and I saw how long the needle was when he was doing the fill when I should have not been looking.. I am NOT sure.... but now I am all worried about going to sleep tonight.. hope I wake up.... geez here we go again...... :tt1::confused::frown::frown: BTW I lost another 10 pounds today at weight in so I have lost a total of 31 total, in a month and a week or so.

Congrats Dana,Motivating,
Question for you i am lactose intolerant as well and will be starting my liquid diet on June 7. What is the name of the Protein Shots that you get and where can I get them? Thanks Nina
Hey there,
I use Body Fortress "Super Whey" Protein Shot "Fruit Punch" flavor Supplement - 17.4 Oz
$9.94 @ Walmart for an 8 Pack
They taste OKAY (trust me I have had worse and they give you 26 grams of protein a shot so 2 a day and a little loose protein sprinkled in your meals will make the 60 gram goal. I drank one shot in like 2 minutes... was not hard to get down at all!!
Good Luck
I hope you like it!!

Wow! Congratulations! That's wonderful. We all lose at different rates and it seems you are one of the lucky ones that loses it fast. I was banded on 5/03/10 and lost an initial 10 pounds and then nothing for two weeks. Yesterday I saw the scale start moving so I'm on my way, too!Keep up the good work and stay positive. It's going to come off whether it's slowly or quickly. It's going to happen.
Congratulations to you too. You are doing great... there are some people who would give their right arm to lose what you have.. trust me my sister is one of them. She can even lose 2 pounds so count your blessings.
Good luck and keep in touch.

ChocolateDream81,Congratulations! Keep up the good work! I was banded on May 18th and am down 14.5 pounds....
Quick question: how do you manage to drink 64oz of Water and 3 Protein shakes. I am barely drinking one bottle Water (16.9oz) and 2 Protein Shakes. Any suggestions?
My diet has changed from pureed to soft and I am loving it!
Congratualtions to you too. Okay the 64oz of water is done over the course of the day I sip sip sip till I can't sip anymore and normally finish around 8 or 9 at night with the full 64. As far as the Protein goes. I do not drink protein shakes since I am lactose intolerant. I drink the little bullet shots that are smal and fruityl....... and are 26 grams of protein in one. Its literally like a shot so its cool and does not taste that bad and almost 30 grams of protein.... EXCELLENT makes me almost halfway to my daily goal. I only eat 3 times a day NO Snacks. maybe a sugar free popcicle around 3 but thats it. right now I am on any Beans and a boiled egg for Breakfast. apple sauce (no sugar) is also allowed. but I NEVER can finish the small apple sauce container. Let me know your tips too...lol
thanks
Dana

hey there,
I know that my results are not typical and that they will slow down. Everyones bodyis different.... on surgery day they weighed me and I was 284 today I am 260. My surgery was on May 17th so its just about 12 days out. I was on a liquid diet the first week and this week I have been on Beans, and eggs and Water. I love every minute of it. I feel good and did a 45 minute walk today at the park. I am MENTALLY ready to shed this weight once and for all. I litterally day dream several times a day of me in a mini skirt and on the beach in a bathing suit or in high heels and tank tops or not sleeping at night with my CPAP machine or taking blood pressure and high cholesterol pills or making sure that I turn my boarderline DIABETIC in to a NO DIABETIC. I mentally have NO ROOM for failure. I have read several postings on here where the main thing out of everyones mouth is when can we have more food? When can we have potatoes and meat...... I am not in to asking questions when I can have this and that I am just enjoying each stage I am at. My surgeon and dieticican told me that I can and will be down 80 pounds or more by december... and believe me I plan on it. I HAVE TO exercise every single day..... NO QUESTIONS ASKED... period!! at least 30 min but an hour is ideal. I have to have my 64 oz or more of water and my 60 grams of Protein. These are requirements for success and I REFUSE to fail. I was once very weak to this weight GAME that we all are involved in but I have seen the LIGHT...... and I am ready to FEEL it in my new BODY!! Congratulations to all of you.... I wish you the best successes!!! REMEMBER you can do ANYTHING if you put your mind to it!!!!!!!!:redface: I am better than NO ONE and god knows... but I have to take a stand for my health and my wants..... this surgery is all about me.... as your surgery should be all about YOU..... make of it what you wish!!

I was so SCARED to have the lap band procedure but I did it. I am now 10 day post op. I had my surgery on May 17th Monday and I am down 22 pounds. I feel great and I have already exercised twice today. I have an appt. for my first fill on July 1st. I plan on being one of the Lap Banders that loses their weight FAST.. My Dr. has explained to me that exercise EVERY SINGLE day is the KEY and getting in at least 64 ounces of Water a day along with Protein. I have been on the ball with my Drs. instructions and CHEATING is NOT an option! I know the weight loss will slow down but I am on CLOUD 9 now and I am trying to stay positive and get this weight off my body once and for all. I am sooooooooooo glad I had this surgery!!! Best decision I EVER made!!:redface::thumbup:

thanks to all of you. I called my Dr. and even went to the ER and saw an Urgent care Dr. and they all are coming back to the same thing.... they believe that the Antibiotic given to me during surgery caused some allergic reaction... so they gave me Benadryll taps and some steroid cream to rub on the hives and bumps... my mom says that she can see a difference in my face today and that it is slowly stating to clear up.... I sure hope so..... thanks to you all I will keep you posted......

I had my surgery on the 19th as well, and I am getting zilch in Protein this week. My doctor doesn't want any type of shake or Protein supplement until week 2. I tried the Special K Protein Water, but it was pretty bad for the few grams of protein it provided.I am going a little crazy right now. I am so hungry! I survived the pure liquid diet for a week, but the thought of waiting another 11 days until I am cleared for scrambled eggs is overwhelming. I have no energy and just want to crawl in bed and sleep until I can eat. In addition to that, the scale shows I have gained 6 lbs since the morning of surgery. The practical side of me knows it is the result of 24 hours of IV and all of the gas. But for the lack of eating I want to see the scale go down, not up.
I am very overwhelmed and afraid of being a slug for the next few weeks due to lack of energy.
I was also banded on 5/17/2010 and I feel the same as you!! I am soooooooo WEAK!! I just want to sleep the whole day through!!

I was banded Monday and this journey has been very hard and painful... yesterday I discoverd small bumps on my face and behind my ears... today they coverd my arms back and thighs.... has anyone experienced this after surgery?? I am coverd in hives. I called the Drs. office and they said I may have had an allergic reaction to the liquid vicodin.... so I stopped that yesterday but my nausea was so bad last night I had a compazine tab and today woke up with even more bumps.... I am getting nervous and do not want my body to go into shock due to all these bumps. What can I take for the Nausea cause I am afraid to take the compazine he prescribed as I might be allergic to that to. I feel like I have to throw up ever 10 mins.... but of course nothing comes out cause there is nothing in my stomach... ... I am having the WORST lap band experience ever... starting to second guess why I did this and put myself through so much pain..... oh shoot gotta run to the toilet now feeling nauseaous again!!
HELP!!!:confused::mad2::cursing::frown:

Did you go threw with it?!?!!? Im so curious. My surgery was today, all went wall except for this horrible gas pains i have in my left shoulder. They are really a killer!I did it!! I backed out once when they first wheeled me into the operartion room... they told me to scoot from the gurney to the operating table and I threw up my hands and said "NO, I am sorry Dr. I can not do this" He was like" are you sure? you've come so far" and I told him NO..... I just could not do it... so they wheeled me out of the OR and he was visibly upset...... He called my mom and dad who were in the waiting room and told them to come meet up with me cause I cancelled out. My mom came and wad FURIOUS! She told him Dr. please do NOT listen to dana and just put her to sleep...... He told my mom that he would NOT do that unless I gave him full consent he also aexpressed that he had 6 other surgeries this mornonig and that if I was NOT going to do it then he needed to get to the next one..... then he called over Nurse Bridget who was nice but FIRM...... she looked at me and said oh NO siter girl you are going to do this........ she put on some scrubs and was like... I am going in the OR with you...... she came in and told me to stop being scared and that she would watch over me every step of the way.......She put some mask over my face and said take deep breaths dana... I tried to avoid the mask but she placed it there anyway..... next thing you know I was woken up in Recovery!! Surgery was DONE and I was ALIVE!!! Thank goodness I finally just came to my senses and just let her take me in there. I am in so much pain right now tho.... the gas in my chest is killilng me...... I have burped so much all through the night at the hospital... I just got released and now I am back home. Thank you all for your courage and strength..... I could not have done it with out this whole message board!!!
I am trly SORE and Dizzy but happy!!!
Thanks

First: I cried when I read your note and had to sign on to reply, I am signed on for YOU! You are too young to live a life behind a wall (read my bio to 'get' that comment)Hey, girl... Did you ask your Doc how many patients he's had die during surgery? The answer will most likely be a big fat ZERO!
My Surgery is Tuesday and When I come home Wednesday I expect to hear from you that you are feeling pretty silly for scaring yourself sick!
DO IT TOMORROW AND LIVE, LIVE, LIVE TO BE A VERY OLD HEALTHY LADY!!!
Oh my god, *crying again* you are so right. I have to overcome this fear of being put to sleep. I have read about the statistics and I know that it is safe.... I am just a worrier and I am drivng my self insane. I have been called every name in the book for being overweight.... been rejected lauged at and told to my face that I was huge and should just end my life..... I also have so many health problems for my age that I often fear a heart attack.... not something I imagined at age 28. But as I read your page and see your age you truly give me hope and inspire me to leap into my new life cause it really will benefit me in the end. I am tired of being the outkast and the unhealthy one.... I need this chance at a new life.... thanks so much and as soon as I arrive home after my surgery I will post an update.
Pray for me
Dana

I am still nervous... tomorrow is my day too. We should pray that everything will be OKAY!! I am sure it will. Have a good nights sleep if you can get any.... I don't think I will be able to either.
I wake up at 4am and have to be there by 8:30am surgery probably will not start till about 10:30am........ I pray I wake up from this!! anyway keep me posted post-op.

Dana,YOU CAN DO THIS! YOU CAN DO THIS!
as Catherine said---if you were scared of the having the band itself we would perhaps say to think this over or wait.
But you are saying you are scared of going to sleep---which is like giving up control for a few minutes.
Do you ever ride roller coasters or airplanes??
This is the same thing.
You get in....strap yourself in...and give control to the trained professionals.
The seconds before you hit the top of the big hill or befor take off are nerve racking but as soon as it happens you are FLYING HIGH.
You can do this ! You can do this ! You can do this!
you are right!! I AM GOING TO DO THIS!! please pray for me!!!
-
thanks carol. I am praying now and will continue till I get to the hospital.
thanks for the support.
-
bigh hug to you too... thanks so much!! u are so kind!! please keep in touch with me.
-
oh my god thank you so much... you made me feel so much better!! I am ONLY worried about being put to sleep and waking up... the rest I feel I can handle. Thanks so much

NOT WORKING!
in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Posted
I am also a lap band failure.. or so I feel like it. I was banded on May 17th 2010 and ONLY lost 50 pounds within the first three months. weight loss has since stopped and I am eating any and EVERYTHING with NO problems. I feel like a failure, I cry at night, and I am still fat.. this was not the way things were suppose to go. I am NOT suppose to end my weight loss at 249 pounds... My fills cost 250.00 a pop and I have not had one in about 5 months. I know that is probably the main reason the weight loss slowed down but seriously I dont even follow any of the guidelines anymore.. the motivation and EVERYTHING is gone. I need help... I really want to be healthy and get rid of this sleep apnea or at least have it less severe..... please someone help me. food is my life.. I think about it almost all day or when I am eating I'm think about my next meal.... whats a girl to do?? I need some advice, some TLC and some Prayer... I don't want to LOSE this weight battle..... I want to LOSE WEIGHT!!!!!!!!
