I have thought about gastric surgery for quite a few years. During that time I have friends and some aquaintances have by-pass and lap-band and talked with them about it all and I have seen for myself how they did and heard the good and the bad.  I finally buckled down when I started having joint and back problems and went to a seminar the following month I started my required(for my ins. co) doctor visits along with blood work, psych eval, PT avail, gastro eval and sleep study.  After all that testing it is confirmed I have GERD and Sleep Apnea according to my people at the doctors office the apnea will be the biggy for the ins. co and they haven't yet in the last 8 years to deny surgery....I got a call today(March 25th 2010) from the doctors office reviewing if I am still ready for surgery because they want to put me on the schedule before my 6th and final required visit so that when the ins ok's it all I'm already to go....so I am waiting for the office to call me back...I am aiming for middle of April.....!!!
