Normal heartburn or band too tight??

Doesn't sound like a band issue. If you are able to keep food down it is not that. Have you had any issues with reflux in the past?

    Gas/Bloating

I have good restriction, just being so bloated I do not want/cannot to eat.

    Gas/Bloating

This is bad to say, but I am glad I am not alone. I am just feeling so full but my stomach keeps telling me "I'm hungry". I was banded on 3/29/10 and am not liking this at all. I too have not done anything different. But for some reason I have put on 4 lbs in the last two days (think it is all gas).

    Gas/Bloating

This is the kind of post that I was looking for today. The last two days I have felt completely bloated and feeling gas built up, but nothing. I am going to try tomorrow to go on liquids for a couple of days to see if that will help. I am just completely miserable. The feeling is below my band on down. Hope it gets better for you.

    LB Friendly RESTURANTS!

Texas Roadhouse and Chili's have been the greatest. I just asked if it was alright to order from the kids menu and explained the reason. They were very receptive to it and did not have an issue. I have gone to a couple of "mom & pop" breakfast places and they did not care whether or not (rules were rules for the kids menu). I just ended up ordering sides (which was perfect),

    Belching

I also burb all the time. I have been banded since 3/29 (yesterday was the 4 month anniversary). I had asked my doctor and he told me "welcome to lapband" it just likes to say hello. Now among my friends, if I happen to burb loudly (which sometimes it is just small quiet ones), I tell them that the band says hello.:cursing:

    yogurt w/protein!

I too like the greek yogurt, but really watch the amount of sugar in them. I just bought the Kroger CarbMaster with on 3grams of sugar.

    Doctor is treading water?

Your weight loss seems to be going great. You are averaging 7lbs a month (which they say 1-2 lbs a week). So far I have lost 42lbs since my surgery 3/29. Which they keep saying that is awesome. Try not to have too high of expectations. You are going great. As for the fills, my doctor does .5-1 per time. He does not want to fill too much because it puts the stomach into shock.

Tightness many weeks or months after fill

This just happened to me. I had a fill two weeks ago and this week so tight that I could not drink Water without pain or it coming back up. The Dr. ended up taking out what he put in and man what a difference. We have tried a couple of times to fill me to where I have been and keep getting it taken back out. I told him that unless I start having no restriction, I do not want any more fills. I am losing weight and enjoying myself while doing it (except for the fills).

    Protein shopping

I recently found a really good one. Nutrition Direct brand and it is not that expensive. either.

What supplements do you all take?

I take Flinstones and a total of 1500 calcium w/ vitiam D a day. My doctor's office told me that is what they recommend to all the patients due to the fact that as you loose weight you can get "brittle bone syndrome" making you more prone to fractures.
  12. With the last couple of days with being out in the heat, I noticed that I was either eating extremely small amount to taking a couple of bites and not holding it down. Unfortunately I did not have a choice to not be outside since I was volunteering at my church fest. Has anyone had this issue? What have you done?

    Protein Supplements- Unflavored Options

I have used the Beneprotein (my dr highly recommends it). with the Jillian Michaels, I add it to 10 oz of milk and it brings it up to 25 g of protein.

    Protein Shake help !

During my pre and post op I used the carniation instant (sugar free of course), benprotein with 10 oz of skim milk. Now I also use the pure protein (Walmart carries a small container for $10). I really prefer the first one but the Walmart one is more convienent. :grouphug:
  15. I noticed the same thing this week. Two day I was stressed and could not get anything down. I was able to drink Water but nothing else. I actually forgot to ask my doctor today when I went for a fill. I too am at a loss. Hopefully someone will have some advice.

    Numbing medication with fills

My doc does not use numbing meds. He puts a pillow under the small of my back and has me put my arms over the head. He says it is to help push the port up closer to the skin. He gets it everytime. It is just weird to feel it in my stomach.

    Dining Out Post Surgery

My husband and I love to go out to eat. I have noticed that most of the larger chain resturants are extemely accomidating and allow you to order from the kids menu (which is plenty of food). I was nervous about going out to eat after my surgery but now it is not an issue. I do find myself watch how I eat since I do not want a stuck issue.

2 days postop; how much liquid at a time?

I had the same issue. Two days after surgery, it took me what seemed like forever to get down my shakes and liquids. Just remember that you body is still swollen from the procedure. It takes a few days.
  19. 4.5 lbs in a week is unrealistic. As you get fills you will see that it will start working more. The fills give you more restriction to help you feel fuller faster and longer. I have been banded for almost 2 months now and have been doing great. I did have some issues with my fill 4 weeks ago (lost 4 lbs in 2 days) but was adjusted by taken some Fluid out. I just went in for a 4 week follow up & another adjustment yesterday and lost an additional 4 lbs. Sometimes this is why people get fustrated, we think the weight should come off more quickly that we would like. Just look at the big picture, your insulin has already been adjusted and will probably continue to the point of hopefully getting off of it totally.

    No beans or soups

My surgeon and dietiation are also strict. No slider food (soup, cereal with milk). However, I was able to eat beans (ff refried) during muschie stage. As for the carbs- only whole grains

Newly Banded With A Quick Question

I was the same way. It seems that once all the swelling went down it is now easier to get the goal of liquids in. I don't see why you cannot drink more. Just be sure that you are meeting your protein goals (which I am having a difficult time on the muschies). Hope that will be easier when I get progressed to food (in 2 days). I was banded 3/29
  22. It is a very big decision. Just remember you can set your timeline to what makes you feel comfortable. I felt the same way in the beginning, but knew this will help me with my health further down the road. I am now 4 weeks post op and am happy to have done it.
  23. I am actually enjoying the clothes getting too big ( switch for a change). Pulling out those clothes that you could not breath in and they fit to the point a couple more lbs and they are gonna be on the ground. I am gonna remember the "weight loss wiggle"ance theme from now on.
  24. 2 weeks ost op I lost about 10 lbs. Then came the muschie stage, put on 2 lbs in just 4 days but have taken it off now. hoping that it will start going again. I seems like when I get to drop below that next level I stall. I was 281 at my highest in Dec and now 242. The biggest fun is putting clothes on and saying oh well this is the last time I can wear this because it is just hanging on me. I cannot wait until getting to the actually food stage, but scared at the same time.

    Constant burping

I am three weeks post op. Last week I had my follow up with my surgeron and asked him the question about the burping. His response was "Welcome to Lap Band". For some reason it just happens.
