Two weeks out and no restriction?

Angie, I understand exactly how you feel. I am hungry more and more often now, although I don't feel like I've healed at all. I too am on soft foods and they just are NOT sticking with me and I had a hiatal hernia repaired as well. This not drinking while eating part, is VERY difficult for me!! I drink pretty much all day long, previously, while I ate too!!! So it's hard for me to get in my daily water intake. Oh well, I go to get my first fill on June 8th, hopefully I'll feel a little restriction then!

    Pre-op diet

So what's the newest update on everyone who's been banded or still doing pre-op?

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I honestly didn't start really feeling hungry until about day 5-6. And I'm thanking GOD that I do not have a 2 week liquid diet after, just the first 5 days. Now I'm on to soft foods and can add fresh fruit tomorrow, yay!!! The funny thing is, is that I can add fish this weekend, and I HATE fish, but I am SOOOOO looking forward to it!!!:w00t: Anyway, doing a little better today, still having major port site pain though. Last night was so bad that I was in tears! I hope you all aren't having the pain that I'm having.

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I think I'm a toughie too, which is why I can't stand feeling like this! I'm off the pain meds, have been for 4 days, so that's not it. According to my doc, I'm on a soft food diet, so I'm eating cottage cheese, SF pudding, Jello, some Soups, but I'm still hungry!! And my stomach growling is from hunger not gas. I feel like I've become an expert on differentiating between gas pains and other pain, LOL!! I'm excited about the future, but right now I just have buyer's remorse :-(

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

So I was banded on the 10th, had a hiatal hernia repaired and scar tissue removed as well. Needless to say, the 3 days that I had scheduled to take off work turned into the entire week. I came back to work yesterday, but still feel like crap!!! I am still having major port site tenderness and pain and now battling diarrhea as well. I am getting seriously hungry every 3 hours, so much so that my stomach sounds and feels like it's eating itself!!! The portion size that I've been able to stand is increasing as well (which I don't think is a good thing)!! I know that month 1 is for healing, but come on...when you're only eating (drinking) 600-800 calories a day, I freaking better be losing weight!!! However, including preop and postop, I'm down 13 pounds! So, 8 days post op, and everything I've read in these forums is how great everyone's done with their surgeries. I am not normally a whiner, and can handle pain pretty well, but I feel horrible!!!!! AM I ALONE OUT HERE?!?!?!?!?
  6. So how are you doing Kerri? Did your surgery go as planned? How are things post op?

    Lap Band Surgery Day Stories

I am on day 4 of my post op. I had a terrible time after surgery, with pain and inability to drink anything. I ended up having hiatal hernia repair and scar tissue removed as well as being banded. I am still in a lot of pain and unable to drink much or eat much. I have to force myself to drink my soup or anything else for that matter. When I do drink something, I burp, which is very painful for me. I keep thinking that there must be something wrong with me, since everyone told me that I'd be fine to go back to work after day 3. Here it is day 4 and I'm barely able to take care of myself. I've had to stay with my parents since my husband has to work all day, just because of this. Is there something wrong with me? Has anyone else had this experience?

How long were you out of work?

I'm having my surgery on Monday, May 10th and I'm only taking 3 days off. Everyone thinks I'm crazy, but I sit at a desk all day with minimal lifting and walking from floor to floor. But according to my doctor, as long as I don't have any complications, I should be fine.

    Any May 2010 Bandsters?

I understand how you feel completely!!! My surgery is Monday the 10th and I'm feeling a myriad of emotions!!! Good luck to you, I'm sure everything will go smoothly!!!

    Disgusted with Myself

Kerri, you and I started our pre-op the same day and will have surgery the same day. Read what I'm about to say very carefully... Do NOT be so hard on yourself!!!!! If we were able to do this ourselves, then we wouldn't be getting banded. You have only done what I have thought about doing. And although a lot of people may not reply and admit that they did the same thing, I'm sure they're out there. I have discovered that I am my own worst enemy. I have fooled myself over too many years that my addiction to food was not abnormal and that I was still healthy. I am not, nor have I been healthy!!! My addiction to food sounds just like yours. But, with the HELP of the band, we WILL be able to conquer this demon that we've carried for way too long. Please forgive yourself and don't look back. Continue to keep your eye on the prize. We have surgery is 3 days and we will be on the road to a happier, healthier lifestyle. Here's to you!!!!:bored: I look forward to reading your success stories!!!! Heather
  12. OMG, I am SO excited and nervous and anxious and freaked out!!! But most of all excited!!! How are you doing on the preop diet (if you have one)?

  13. LoserHeather37

    Pre-op diet

Melissa, you're the first person that has said they haven't lost anything...I was beginning to think I was some kind of freak!!!! That makes me feel so much better, but it SUCKS for us!!! So when do you have your surgery? Keep me updated!!!
  14. LoserHeather37

    sorry to ask... but...

What an inspiration you are Amber, thank you for sharing!!! I've been dealing with the same questions and concerns!!! I'm now 5 days into my liquid diet and am now dealing with the major frustration of only losing 1 pound!!!! I haven't cheated, although I'm beginning to think that even THINKING about cheating is sabotaging me!!! If I get through this, it will be the hardest thing I've ever done!!!
  15. LoserHeather37

    Pre-op diet

I'm doing 3 bariatric advantage protein shakes, 8 oz. a piece and sugar free jello. Then Crystal Light to drink. That's it, no cheating, nothing!!
  16. LoserHeather37

    sorry to ask... but...

I am right there with you!!!! I started my 2 week liquid diet on Monday the 26th, so I'm now on day 4. And although I started out hungry, irritated with everyone, and with no energy, I can really tell a difference today. So I think maybe my body is done with it's detox!!! But I have had the same concerns that you have. Will my want go away? I'm glad to know there are people out there just like me who are feeling the same anxiety that I feel. But WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
  17. LoserHeather37

    happy happy!

    That's awesome...GOOD LUCK!!!
  18. LoserHeather37

    Help!!!

I am on day 2 of my 14 day liquid pre-op diet and I don't know that I can make it!!! I'm STARVING, I have a horrible headache that I can't get rid of, no energy and I could almost bite the head off of anyone who stands in front of me. 12 more days...:scared2: any advice for me?
  19. LoserHeather37

    Help!!!

Well, I've made it to day 4 (yay!!!!!!) and it is a whole lot better. I'm still grumpy and people are so inconsiderate about eating in front of me, but I feel MUCH more in control!!!! However, I got on the scale this morning and have only lost 1 pound!!! 1 FREAKING POUND?!?!? I'm very frustrated over this!!! But I feel better, so there's something to be said about that, right?

    What you want after

Wow, this is a great thread!!!! I'm having my surgery on May 10 and I'm 3 days into my 2 week liquid diet!!! I've been telling myself that I can't do this, why should this be any different from my previous attempts? But this sure has helped!!! I want what many people want... I want to be able to buy "normal" size clothes, not plus I want to fly in a plane without a seatbelt extender I want to feel beautiful and sexy and be able to look my husband in the eye when he tells me I am I want to FEEL better!!!!! I want to be able to walk into any place and not immediately look around to see if I'm the fattest person there!!!! That's the short list...But most of all, I want to be comfortable in my own skin, for the first time in 37 years!!!

Just got home from my pre-op appt

I can't have coffee , which is part of my problem. I can't have any caffeine at all. So the lack of caffeine and the lack of sugar, it's a bad combination for me!! But hey, I hope it's much better for you!
  22. LoserHeather37

    Help!!!

Wow, good luck tomorrow!!! Glad to hear that I'm not the only one who feels this way!! I've read that it gets better after the 3 or 4 day, is that true? I'm holding out hope that it is!!! But yes, we CAN do this!!!!

    post-op ..home care

My surgery is scheduled for May 10 and is done as an outpatient. I have to be at the hospital at 5:15 am and have been told that I'll be home by noon. My friend had it done by the same doctor and she took the whole week off but was fine on her own the 2nd day. I am only taking 3 days off from work, so I'm hoping that I do as well. Good luck...
