    Protein

Thanks! I just ordered the samples, so hopefully I'll like it!! I know, I'm really concerned about my protein intake. I'm trying to make good choices, but it is soooo hard!!! Thanks for all of the suggestions, I'll likely be giving them all a try!

    First Fill Tomorrow!!!

My doc injects lidocaine, and I didn't feel the 2nd needle at all. But I won't lie, I looked and it wasn't small. Like I said though, couldn't feel it at all!!! Don't sweat it, I'm sure it will all go fine!!! I was nervous too and realized I had nothing to be nervous about. Tell your doctor your concerns before he gives you the fill.

    First Fill Tomorrow!!!

The gurgling, for me, lasted the first day only. As far as finding the port...my doctor had me lay on a table with my feet on the ground. She then pressed in a couple of places and it just popped up. She had no trouble finding mine. if you are chewing like you should and staying away from the things you shouldn't have, then you should be fine!!! Good luck and keep me up to date with your progress!!!

    First Fill Tomorrow!!!

I had my first fill on Tuesday and was given 3 cc's. But according to my doctor, he's fairly moderately more aggressive than some docs. I felt immediate restriction and gurgling in the throat when I drank, but now 2 days out, nothing. I go back in 3 weeks for my 2nd, so hopefully... Good luck to you tomorrow!! Hopefully you'll get just the right amount for good restriction for you!!!!

    Restriction at 3.5cc...Finally

Lucky!!! I got 3 cc's on Tuesday and nothing...still hungry, little to no restriction!!! But that's great for you!!!

    Protein

I had been making mine with skim milk, a banana, and some ice, like a real shake. Never thought about just throwing it in a sealable container with Water and drinking it that way. DUH!!!!! But then again, I really don't like the Bariatric Advantage stuff that I've been drinking. So I'll try some of these other suggestions. Thanks for the feedback all!!

    First Fill...

I'm having my first fill tomorrow, but I have been given no instructions about what and if I need to do anything prior to my appointment. What have been some of your experiences with first fills. Do I need to not eat or drink anything, or stick to just liquids, etc?

    Delayed trouble swallowing???

I actually had the very same experience. I was on clear liquids for 2 days, full liquids for 2 and then mushies. The first 2 days, I could NOT hardly get anything down at all without it feeling stuck in my throat or chest. But by day 4, it happened less frequently. It took me until about 2 weeks post op before I didn't get that feeling at all. Good luck!!!

    Humm is it considered cheating???

Mine too!!! Seems quite unfair since I have absolutely no restriction right now and could gnaw my own arm off most of the time!

    First Fill...

Thanks Kelly, definitely good information to have!! Good luck to you!!

    Lapband Cards

Ok, stupid question, but I'm 4 weeks post op and have heard nothing about lapband cards! What are they and how do you get one?

    First Fill...

I'd call my office if they were open on Monday. Oh well, I guess I'll just fast in the morning and see what happens. I'd rather not eat or drink and have been able to then to eat and drink and shouldn't have. Thanks!!!

    Heartburn

So I'm 3 1/2 weeks post op and my reflux was immediately gone right after surgery. However, I've noticed the past couple of days that I have some annoying heartburn. I had a hiatal hernia repaired at the time of my surgery as well, so I thought that I was all clear. Any ideas?
  14. Give yourself a break!! You're only 3 days out, still full of gas, swollen, your body needs time to recover before you're going to start dropping weight. I actually gained 3 pounds post surgery. I know it's hard, when all of this prep work that we put in pre-op is difficult, but we do it, then we stall. But the first month is for healing, not losing. Chances are you'll start dropping weight in a few days anyway, but don't be discouraged to see that it stalls again as you start adding more foods. Remember, we are all on a journey, take success in the accomplishments along the way, but it's still a journey!! Good Luck!!!!

    Subway?

The buffalo chicken from Subway sounds good, I may have to try that. As for losing sweet tooths and such, I wish...I still am craving chocolate as ever as I did before. Ate a brownie, still as good as before...it's a shame too, because I was hoping that I'd be one that lost my tastes for the bad stuff. Oh well...
  16. I completely understand the frustration. I'm down 20 and the only place I can tell is in my fingers and my feet. People tell me that my face looks thinner, but I don't even see that. But I'm sure, in a month or so, the pants will be looser if not too loose to wear!!! Hang in there!

    Finally!!!! My First Fill!!!

Oooh, I'm excited, I have my first fill on Tuesday!!! I've been really nervous about it, but feel a little better after reading your experience. Thanks for sharing!
  18. I found this thread so intriguing, cause I'm 3 weeks out and keep thinking, ugh, do I have to exercise? So I'm in awe that you all are so dedicated to exercise, while I am dreading every second of it!!!
  19. Hey Mikissa,

Sorry to hear that, that just sucks!!! I don't go for an adjustment until June 8th! And for the record, I did VERY bad over the long weekend! I have absolutely no restriction right now and I can eat what I want, and boy did I this weekend. So today and tomorrow, I'm making myself do liquids only. I'm the same way though, as of Saturday, I'd lost 20. But I won't weigh right now, lol!

Well hang in there and keep me updated and I will you too. Good luck!!

MAY BANDSTERS ~ How are you doing?

I was banded May 10th and so far, so good. Except for the fact that I went to a barbeque yesterday and did NOT do so well. I haven't had a fill yet and I am hungry ALL THE TIME!!!! But I ate what I ate, forgave myself and put myself on liquids for today and tomorrow. I go for my fill June 8th and am hoping for a little restriction, even though I've been told that it probably won't happen. I was down 20 pounds on Saturday and refuse to weigh right now, lol! I hope everyone else is doing GREAT!!!!
  21. Hey Angie, I'm in the same boat!! I had my surgery May 10th and have no restriction whatsoever. I know that I've read that we're in "bandster hell" where we're only limited by ourselves and not the band yet. I go in for my first fill on June 8th and am hoping and praying that I don't gain anything between now and then!!! Although from what I've heard, we still won't get good restriction until the 3-4 fill...ugh!!! So here we are...newly band and left to our own willpower!! And I don't know about you but, if I had any willpower, I wouldn't have needed the band!!! Hang in there, let's just all support each other through "hell" and rejoice when we're on the other side. BTW, your breakfast sounds YUMMY!!!!

    Pre-op diet

Ok, so I'm on day 5 of my liquid pre-op diet and I have only lost 1 pound...1 STICKING POUND!!!! WTH!!!! What is going on? And what am I doing wrong? I've added up the calories and I'm only taking in 800 calories. So why am I not losing anything? Has anyone else experienced this????????
  23. So I'm 10 days post op and on a soft food, mushie diet right now. I was able to add fresh fruits today, which I am VERY excited about. However, I am HUNGRY!!!! And it's not just head hunger that I've read about, I am hungry!!!! I have absolutely no restriction when I eat, which I understand is normal, but I can eat waaaaayyyy more than I should and am not having any problems with the size bite I take or how long I chew. Is this normal? Or am I just abnormal?!?!?!
  24. Glad to hear that you're doing well. I'm finally getting back to "normal" but it was a tough week for me. I am STARVING right now!!! LOL. I am trying so hard to stick to what I'm allowed to eat and the portion, but I am physically hungry, my stomach is practically eating itself! I can't wait until June 8th for my first fill!!!

    Take care!

  25. I had my surgery on May the 10th as well, but my recovery has not been as easy as I thought it would be. I ended up having a hiatal hernia repair (which a lot of you did) and some scar tissue removed. I could NOT drink anything the first 2 days, but slowly I've been able to get through on SF lemonade and broth. I'm now on to the mushie stage, but I am hungryyyyyyyyyy!!!! LOL. I don't go for my follow up, first fill appointment until June 8th. I am VERY excited though, I get to add fresh fruits tomorrow, which is awesome cause it's my birthday! And then fish this weekend. I still am having quite a bit of pain around the port site, can not sleep in my bed because it stretches out my abdomen and I can't stand it. So I'm very tired from sleeping in a chair, which is not very restful. Sounds like everyone's doing alright with all of the new and somewhat difficult changes. Good luck to everyone!! Let's keep up the good work!
