    Question about vomiting

I had a stomach virus this past week and immediately called my bariatric doctor. They told me that once I stop vomiting and can start eating again to just have warm liquids the first couple of days and then move to mushies for a couple of days. I'm not a doctor, but seems to me that if you have a stomach virus, it's best to get it out of your system and not just take meds to make you not throw up. I know the dangers of vomiting, but you can't go the rest of your life popping a pill to keep from throwing up, can you? I don't know, this, like almost everything else having to do with the band, is different among doctors.

How Much Saline @ First Fill?

3 cc's at first fill, 2 cc's at 2nd and .5 at 3rd in a 10 cc band. Mine are done blind (no fluoro, that is) and by drinking a cup of water. I go tomorrow, for what I'm hoping, is my 4th fill!!!
  3. Hey Betsy, I have a question for you. Your weight loss seems to be progressing very well. Can you give me a typical food day for you? And what kind of exercising are you doing?

    Thanks,

    Heather

  4. I am 1 1/2 weeks since my 3rd fill, total of 5.5 cc's in a 10 cc band. I am hungrier now than I was before!!!! I know I have restriction still because I'm having to chew very very carefully now to not have a stuck episode. But, where I was satisfied for about 3 hours after I ate, I now am hungry within an hour!!!! I'm going backwards, so wth???? I'm so very frustrated, I can't BEGIN to tell you!!!! So why could this possibly be?!?!?

    How can this be???

I'm still losing and thought that it was just "head hunger", but it's really not. I'm starving after a couple hours. I'm still losing painstakingly gradually, but this hunger thing is really starting to bother me. Do you think that after I go next week and get another fill, that possibly this will stop? I'm also wondering what the chances are that they've hit the tubing and I'm possibly losing restriction? Has this happened to anyone like this?

    How can this be???

Yes, I've even upped the amount of protein I'm eating for this reason. I just don't understand it!

    How can this be???

I am eating high protein, low carb, and no different than I was eating before my last fill. At my last fill, I could eat more than the salad plate portion, that was the only reason they gave me another fill. But now after 1/2 cc more, I can eat more and it's not sustaining me as long.
  11. So I'm very confused!!! If I reduce my calories by too much, I gain weight! If I add too many calories, I gain weight!!! I don't understand how some people can take in 800-1000 calories per day and lose weight and I can't. I'm satisfied on that many calories, so I just don't get why my body won't lose weight there. If I stick to 800-1000 calories or even a little more, for a while, will I eventually start losing? Has anybody experienced what I'm experiencing?
  12. LoserHeather37

    Dazed and Confused!!

So if I stick to 1000-1200 calories, which I'm close to, usually about 1300. And I continue or increase my exercise, it should pick up?
  13. I'm doing alright, slow moving weight loss, but ok. How are you doing?

  14. Hey all, I go back to the doctor today for my 3rd fill. I currently have 5 cc's in a 10 cc band. Here's my dilemma. I have learned over the last month or so, that to lose weight, I need about 1700 calories per day. If I go too far below that, I maintain or even gain weight. I don't have much restriction right now but worry that if I get another fill, I'll have trouble getting all of the calories that I need in. My doctor doesn't go by calories, just amount of food and how long that keeps me satisfied. I've read on here that some people are doing between 600-800 calories, however that doesn't work for me. I'm not really sure why, I'm wondering if it has to do with the fact that I've dieted for the past 30 years and that's completely messed up my metabolism? Does anyone else have the issues with needing more calories and what should I do about my appointment today? Thanks for the help!!!
  15. That's awesome!!! It's a great feeling, isn't it??? Keep up the good work!
  16. Awww, that's terrible!!! I'm glad you're working out though, I haven't done nearly as well as I should. How's the weight loss going? Haven't talked to you in a while, hope you're doing well.

    Not For Everyone?

I am actually wondering if it was right for me or not. I'm 2 1/2 months post-op, eating between 800-1200 calories a day, 2 fills in with 5cc's in my 10cc band, and have continued to gain and lose the same 2-3 pounds for the last month. I have started to do some mild exercise, which is big for me since I hate exercising. But I have come to realize that calorie deficiency alone is not going to do it for me. But...with that said, I am frustrated, confused and over all, wondering if this is going to work for me.
  18. I have been very VERY bad about not really exercising. I was banded 2 months ago and it's time to get off my rear and start doing something. I had been doing a little swimming every once in a while, but I really need to get into a routine. So...does anyone have any great exercise ideas for someone who HATES exercising, hates to sweat, is somewhat lazy and had bad knees? :grouphug:

    3rd fill

So I got my 3rd fill last week and for the first couple of days, I was hungrier than I was before the fill. But then on day 4, I had one bite of a pancake and had my first experience with sliming...YUCK!!!!! I was very careful the rest of the day and stuck with mushies. Then yesterday, I got a salad for lunch, and bam, slimed again!!!! Worse thing is, I got on the scale this morning and it said I was up 6 pounds!!!! REALLY? WTH?!?!?!?! I'm more frustrated than ever!!!! I have 5 cc's in my 10 cc band, I can't eat my FAVORITE food in the world, which is a good salad AND I gained? UGH!!!!!!!!!! Sorry, just needed to vent!
  20. I just got my 2nd fill, now have 5 cc's in my 10 cc band. And honestly, I'm hungrier now than I was before my fill. So I go back in 3 weeks and we'll see then!!
  21. So I'm almost 2 months post-op and I have lost all of my motivation. I did somewhat well the first month post surgery, but I've had a very bad month and find myself slipping right back into my old habits. I'm not whining, I have no one to blame but myself. We've had a death in the family and prior to her death, we've been running the roads like crazy visiting the hospital, which means a lot of snacking and fast food. I've had one fill and had to reschedule my second because it fell on the day of the funeral. But right now, I can't control my cravings, I can eat ANYTHING and have and just feel blah!!! I go tomorrow for my second fill but that won't keep me from eating the things I know I shouldn't. If any of you have gone through a similar stage in their weight loss journey and beat this, I'd love to hear from you.

    Skin Control

I had been thinking about having the skin removed after I've lost the weight. What have you seen that has turned you off on that idea?:tt1:

    Stupid Question

I was given a 35 pound weight limit for 6 weeks post surgery. Be careful and if there is any question whether or not you should be doing something, call your doctor!!! Good Luck!

    Protein

I'm 4 weeks post-op and know that I'm not getting enough protein. I'm always running late, so I don't have time to blend up a shake every day. Does anyone have any suggestions for pre-made protein drinks and/or bars that are tasty. I've tried a few pre-made drinks that make me gag, and the same for the bars. Any suggestions?

    Update on Flight Fears

That's wonderful!!! Congratulations! I'm scared to death myself. I'm flying out Monday to San Diego for a conference. I haven't flown in 5 years and although I've never had to use a seat belt extender, I'm scared I will now.
