Did you guys worry about carbs post op? I am on full liquids and can have pureed stuff. I feel like Im eating a lot of carbs but I'm just trying to get nutritious food in. For example for lunch today I had a quarter of a baked sweet potatoe pureed with soy milk and unjury chicken Soup mix (tasted better than it sounds). In 7 says I go on a soft diet and I kind of figured that would be the time to start counting carbs since I will be able to have fish and eggs and what not. What did you guys do? stacey

between my chewable vitamine, calcium chews, benfiber, Omega3 chews etc... I get a LOT of carbs. I think the benefiber powder doesn't have carbs... I've been chewing the pellets. I may be getting to the point where I can take pills and eliminate some of the chewables but man they are packed with sugar.

swiftflow... let us know how your experiment turns out. It would be great if we could prevent stalls. Also its probably healthier for our metabolisms if we can keep our calorie intake a little higher.

Your right in the middle of the hardest part right now. Once your on the other side you wont believe it was ever this much of a struggle. Hang in there.... your almost home!!

Yea me too. I knew it would happen (thanks to all you guys) so i'm mentally prepared. I told myself that the first day i didn't loose I would take the batteries out of my scale. I just cant stand the torture of a stall. I have tortured myself too many years with that stupid scale. Its once a month weigh ins for me

Great...so I'm an over achiever!
stcyt replied to goodlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news on the PPI thing. I have am waiting for an answer from my doctor as to whether or not I can stop. I don't have acid and see no need to fix what isn't broken. Keep overachieving!!!! the more Water you get the better you will heal and the fresher your skin and eyes will look. Your kidneys and liver are working overtime and getting flushed with water is helping them do their jobs better. All that Protein will help you keep your hair. I think they give the guidlines thinking people will strive for that but probably won't get it all in. Dont kill yourself over it though.... stress interfers with healing. Keep up the good work.... be good to yourself take care stacey -
I have had limited restriction with water since very early on. I am on full liquids now and can't eat more than a couple of bites of my pureed meals so the restriciton is definately there for other things. I think water moves through us pretty fast and honestly, I'm grateful. I love water. I think its pretty normal.

clearly.... as you can see from my posts things like date and time are very confusing for me.
I finally figured out your surgery is TODAY!!!
Cant wait to see your post about how your doing

Anticipation is heavy!!!
stcyt replied to sickofrollercoaster's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Angie.... what your doing is perfectly normal. I was absolutly insane the days leading up to surgery. I was so scared and full of "is this the right thing" "its forever" type of thoughts that I started to tear up in the elevator on the way to check in to the hospital. I was freaked out right up until "lights out" and i haven't had one regret. I don't know if there is anything to do for that crazy overthinking that goes on before hand.... just sit back and know it will be behind you soon. I wouldn't worry about chanhing flights and geting the perfect protein and all that jazz. If there's a problem I'm sure Dr Aceves will accomodate. You'll just make yourself crazy worrying about it. I didn't use Aceves but from what I understand you couldn't be in better hands. -
Interesting. I wish I had heard of it before. I had a lot of swelling but I'm pretty much past it now. I hope it works for you.

stcyt replied to Driver63's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Gees Driver. I havent' had the same issue but my thoughts certainly go out to you. I hope your home soon and getting started on your new life. 80lbs down is great even though its a hard way to go. Hang in there Stacey -
I'm not very far out yet but I'm jumping on this thread because I love reading all your NSV. Hopefully I'll have some soon!!!
-
were the symptoms the same as with a big leak only less pronounced
-
Hi Brian and welcome, I hope we can provide a little support for you as you start this journey. Its been an amazing thing to have all these people here right at my finger tips every time I get nervous or freaked out. It sounds like you have three very important reasons to choose the healthiest most successful approach... and I'm convinced the sleeve is just that. Your obviously a person of very strong character and I have no doubt you will make this a fabulous success story. take care stacey

2 questions lis 1) when will you (the skinney lady) sing... how far out will you feel safe 2) when you have heard of people having these undetected leaks were there any symptoms at all. Maybe in hindsight people could come up with a warning sign. :thumbup1: thanks stacey

How to sip without getting in air. . .
stcyt replied to butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lot of gas post op and didn't want to injest ANY more. I would take a sip and then hold it in my mouth till it all settled (10secs or so) and then swallow. It seemed to help. I'm 12 days out now and its not such an issue. -
My surgen uses a 32 F but I asked him to go bigger since i was starting with a low bmi. He ended up using a 38 and so far I'm pretty happy but its early to tell. Like tiff says.... it probably doesn't matter much but it made me feel better. I don't know a lot about this but I thought I read somewhere that they used to use 50-60 fr and weight regain was an issue? I might have that wrong but it would be worth looking into. I bet tiffikins knows the real stroy here. stacey

I'm wondering the same thing. If its not broken why fix it?
-
Thanks I knew if anyone was going to have the low down on leaks it would be you:cool0:
-
Interesting heartonmysleeve I was perscribed ppi's for 60 days as a preventative measure. I have experienced zero acid. I wonder if I'm askng for trouble
-
I can't get down the same amount of protein as I could two days ago. Only a few sips and its uncomfortable.
-
thanks tiffikins I have a little pain this morning.... well....not really pain. I think I just have gas.

I am thankfully feeling pretty good post op. I have a little soreness still but thats about it. I am getting anxious to start exercising. I've been hiking and walking etc... but I belong to a club just down the road from my work. I was going on my lunch hour every day before surgery and I'd like to return. Its just a "curves" type circut workout. Its not super strenuous but there is some lifting and pushing and pulling etc. My doc said lite exercise after 3 weeks and whatever I want after 6. Anybody know if Curves = lite? :biggrin0:
