    Hominy?

Well... I don't know what Dr Aceves says but I'm pretty sure my doc would say liquid only. You could stick it in the blender.

Why am I feeling SO anxious?!

Its perfectly normal. This is such a life changing thing... a thing that we've wanted for sooo long. I was certain that something was going to go wrong. My family was going to stage some intervention (they don't know, I'm 44 but my mother thinks I'm 10)... my plane was gong to be delayed.... there was going to be a problem with the loan....It just didn't seem possible that there was an answer to my prayers and I could actually obtain it. When I woke from surgery I was in pain but I had a little satisfied grin on my face. I remember having the thought "It's done...no matter what happens now I will loose this weight" I think its just because its such a huge thing for us... we have tried everything... it almost seems impossible that we could actually get our wish. Take Care Stacey
  3. so good to hear from you driver. I'm glad you're home. Its fantastic that your already on soft foods. I was afraid you would have to be on clear liquids for extended time. YEA!!!!!

    Just a little advice.

I was told 60 days and I can quit. I Forgot to take it last night and then again before work this morning. I was in pain by the end of the day and raced home to get a pill. I hope its not forever. I never had reflux before

    Ugh...

Good call on the hydration thing. Thats the one thing I don't get about out patient. I would have never been able to hydrate without my IV

    Sleeping post op

Okay... when posting on this thread before I was Pre-sleeve. I am now Post Sleeve and have struggled a bit with sleeping. I decided to test our carbohydrate theory and low and behold... If I eat a few bites of apple sauce before I go to bed I sleep like a baby. Stacey

    NSV shout outs

Okay.. I'm only two weeks out but I've been DYING to post something. I have worn nothing but sweat pants since surgery because I took a full two weeks. I'm back at work now and the cloths I was busting out of before are now baggy. It's no bikini and board shorts... but I'm on my way:lol0:

    Ugh...

Sorry buddy... that first 24 is rough. I was in the hospital for 48 and wouldn't have wanted to be at home. I had IV fluids so didn't have to worry about hydration till 48 hrs out. Walk Sip Walk Sip.... its the same old advice everyone gives but there's a reason it gets stated again and again. At about 48 hrs you'll be a million times better. Youll be yourself (well, actually a smaller version of yourself) before you know it. Take Care Stacey

    Nsaids????

Okay... I knew it would happen... the time has arrived when I need massive ibuprophine or I am incapacitated (nausea and vomiting at times). My PCP perscribed for me some codine and muscle relaxers figuring it would be safer to stay away from the NSAIDS at least till my stomach completely heals. Needless to say I was knocked on my A@#. Okay it works... but I cant function. Then I remembered my pain meds left over from surgery. I had a whole box of Mexican Toradol left. I took some and it really helped. So, I googled toradol today and IT"S A NSIAD!!!! what gives? Why whould they give you NSAIDS after surgery if your not allowed to have them for life? :confused1:

    NSV shout outs

I didn't go to Aceves, but I did go to Mexico (Dr Rodriguez). If I ever have to have my tonsils out I want to go back.... much better care than I would have gotten in the US.
  11. HEY.... congrats. Its a strange time after surgery. Evey time I gulp a little too much I am convinced I have sprung a leak. I'm 2 weeks out and still no hole in my stomach. I concure.... breath and walk and take teeney tiney sips. Its worth calling your doctor though.... just to set your mind at ease.

    Anyone with a Stricture?

    whats a stricture?
  13. I was scared too. I wondered how I would even make it home on the plane having nothing but a sip of apple juice in the morning. Pre surgery I would get shakey and almost panicky with low blood sugar if I didn't eat. I seriously couldn't function. I can't tell you how weird it is to eat 600 calories and feel just fine.... go hiking even. You'll love it!!!!!
  14. HI all, I'm just wondering what everyones experience has been with food programs post sleeve. Did most of you intentionally restrict carb intake or did you depend on the calorie restriction provided by the sleeve, or some other method. I'm curious about your reasons for choosing what you did and your experience with stalls, energy, etc. I can't really eat yet and there are days when I think that I should just eat what I want (no white carbs obviously) and let the sleeve do its thing and then there are days when I think I should carefully count carbs to ensure success. Pre sleeve I always felt good on a low glycemic plan even though I didn't loose any weight. thanks for your input Stacey
  15. Your gonna do great tomorrow. Its weird but I bet you don't miss that diet coke one bit. Now beer is another thing.... I may try to have one again someday

    Jack mario's surgery 5/5/10

Thanks for keeping us posted. Give him all our well wishes. Stacey
  17. Thanks for your response. My surgeons guidlines for eating are "Protein first" which makes sense, but I like whole grains, legumes fruit etc. Like you, I ate pretty healthy before, just too much. Thanks Stacey
  18. I'm sorry guys.... I know it sucks. Slow and steady is more healthy... but I know thats not what you want to hear.

    Biotin - how long?

I dont know how long we're supposed to take it. I guess a few months... till we get past the hair loss scare. I found a chewable biotin by "Solaray" and its sugar free.

    Chat tonight - May 4th

mine down too.... sleep well all
  21. just out of curiosity what type of food program are you following. Are you low carbing it or just letting the sleeve restrict your calories? Haven't decided which way to go yet thanks stacey
  22. Yea... I was warned that the low bmi folks shouldnt expect the same big losses.
  23. I felt good enough to go back to work but my swollen belly made getting into anything but sweatpants difficult. The thing is.... I kinda wish I hadn't taken as much time off as I did. Its not really that great for your state of mind to sit and stew. I considered going back early because I was spending every minute of every day thinking about protein and water weightloss etc. I would have been better off filling my water bottle with protein for the day and sipping as I went about my work.
  24. All good thoughts coming your way
  25. yea booklean... its crazy. I came back from surgery much begger than when I left. My whole abdomen was swoolen and hard and I was retaining IV fluids. It didn't really start to dissipate till day 9 or 10. Its normal. Some people just swell more than others. Lots of water and walking helps. take care stacey
