I'm a 38...
-
Keep us posted. I really really want to get off of PPI's and I'll be interested to hear if its worth sticking it out through the heartburn phase to see if it will go away.
-
Good for you Coach!!!! You'll be feeling great in no time. Weird about the staples though Congrats Stacey
-
Kathy... thanks for the info.

Sorry Tia... I know it really messes with our heads when these things happen. When our muscles get stressed our body sort of "surrounds" them with Water. You are following the equation calories consumed - calories burned = lost weight. As long as thats in place its just wierd water stuff. Also... if you expended a lot more energy than usual your body would have used up its glycogen stores and would now be going through the process of restoring glycogen to your liver and other organs (using fat to do this!!!!) but this process requires a lot of water. I hope it passes soon... take care stacey

Yikes... stuck in an airport!!!! Hopefully by the time I'm reading this you are sound asleep in your own bed. Keep sipping and let us know how your doing Stacey -
so.. I have just (as of today) moved into soft foods so its time to make some sort of comittment to an eating plan. I have never ever been able to do the low carb thing. I feel absolutly awful. maybe it will be easier with the sleeve, but its not really hunger that gets me... its that my brain feels like it might explode and I actually have cognative trouble. Difficulties tracking conversations etc.... Has anyone here ever done the old Weight Watcher Core Program? I'm thinking of trying that..... Its mostly about eating a low fat diet high fiber in which all foods consumed have a high water content and are not considered "trigger foods" Any thoughts?

Thanks for the comments guys. It really helps. I also had the surgery so that I could be free from the obsessive dieting that was ruling my life. I like the Protein first philosophy. I guess I was worried because I'm in the midst of the dreaded 3 week stall. I know it will pass... I was just starting to slip into my old thinking patterns re: I have to go on a diet. Thanks Guys Stacey

I know you get home late tonight... or maybe its early morning. Let us know how your feeling and how the plane ride was. I know you were a little concerned. My guess is your doing just fine. Take Care Stacey -
I asked my doc about some really easy stuff like "curves" or beginners yoga.... he said walking only. I dont want to loose tone either so I have taken walking to mean steep grade mountain hikes. I don't know about isometrics. It seems like you would have to potential to use some muscle groups that your not supposed to.

thanks so much for posting his response. Its so hard to know what to do
-
I'm only 3 weeks out so I can't tell you what my 7 week experience is... only that my doc said I can pretty much do whatever I want after 6 weeks.

Surgery date 5/27 anyone else around that date?
stcyt replied to Morgandobes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
wow guys!!!! it's getting close. Its good to have some folks all getting surgery around the same time. You will be good support for each other. On the 48 bougie... that does seem a bit large. My surgeon uses a 32 and I asked him to go bigger because my BMI was low. He said okay but didn't want to go over 38. Ultimately we are not talking about a huge difference. If you search "bougie" you will find some posts by tiffykins that give a good visual of bougie size using pens. So... I guess I just gave you a mixed message..... dont go above 38 but it doesn't really matter Maybe get some other input. Take care guys.... Dave, hows the 15 coming along Stacey -
Oh Phatcurves... I'm so excited for you!!!! Post as soon as you can... we'll all be waiting to hear.

The reason for the reflux is that your body is producing enough acid for your old big stomach. All that acid goes into your new little sleeve which cant hold it all. I never had reflux before but now if I don't take a PPI I feel the burn. I'm hoping to wean off the ppi pretty soon, but I want to make sure I'm completely healed first.

HELP! I don't know what to do.
stcyt replied to Lillie24's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hope you don't have to postpone. I know how crazy the anticipation before surgery is. This is a big deal though and you sure want to give your body it's best chance at healing well. I would say keep you doctor posted and don't sugar coat it. He/she should help you decide. Sorry... you must be so frustrated. -
Bladder infection post op anyone?
stcyt replied to trish4's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have struggled with bladder infections my whole life. Listen to Oregondaisy... go to the doctor and get antibiotics. Most stuff just masks the symptoms allowing things to get really bad. There are different kind of bacteria that cause infections. Some can be squelched with the antisceptic qualities of cranberry and some are actually fueld by cranberry. You need to pee in cup girl!!!!! -

I had never had acid before so I thought the gurgels was acid reflux. I started getting those around day 2. I was started on omeprazole day 3 to control acid. I forgot to take it the other day and got real acid. Now I know what it is. Take your antacid!!!!!!!!!!!! Glad your doing well. -
I don't have a nut.... so I learn what I can from you guys and other research. Maybe I'll try the low carb thing. It could be a different experience with the sleeve. I just hate that feeling, but I sure would like to get this weight off as quickly as possible.

I had refried beans last night for my first soft food meal. It was heaven. They went down like a dream and I was actually able to eat a good lot of them, maybe even 3 oz with a little cheese and greek yougart!!!!! Soft foods here I come!!!!!!!!!

Day 7 Report: Doing Well!
stcyt replied to ouroborous's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm so happy to hear your doing well. I was worried right at first. There are a lot of strange new sensations to get used to. You'll be on soft foods before you know it. I did a lot of broth in the begining because I got so sick of the sweet. Broth is like heaven after all that fruity vanilla chocolate stuff. You can buy chicken broth protien powder. Maybe a GNC or heath food store near you sells some. Happy Loosing!!!! Stacey -

You'll be feeling better so fast its amazing. I kinda wish I would have gone back to work in one week instead of two. I was a bit sore but it would have been fine and it kinda messed with my head sitting around the house. Your post sounds pretty upbeat despite the major abdominal surgery!!!!!! Its rough for a few days but soon its oh so much better. Its unbelievable how little bit your body really needs to keep going huh? I get hungry now... but it only takes a few bites to satisfy me and I'm good to go. Let us know how you progress Stacey -

Those of you that are stopping let us know how it goes. I really want to stop taking mine but I'm only 20 days post op (goodlife I know your less than that and you are fine right?) The few times I forgot to take mine I felt quite a bit of acid in my stomach and throat.
