    Acid Reducers.

My doc said I could go ahead and try now.... but if it gets too bad I'll go back on the ppi's.... dont want to mess up my new sleeve (I love it). Yesterday was day two and it was pretty rough. I took some gaviscon before bed and today I feel fine.... I haven't eaten yet so we'll see. If I cankick the ppi's I will be able to say that there is absolutly NOTHING I don't love about my sleeve!!!!!!
  2. Well... I don't know the answer to your question but it does seem like other posters have gone more than 10 days. I had glue and it was in place for about 20 days. Also... there is another poster who took hers out at 10 as directed and her incisions came open. I don't think extending it a couple of days would hurt. I'm no doctor though..... just my thoughts
  3. About 1 week post op I had a nighttime dream:sleep: that I was eating a HUGE bowl of fruit loops. It was cold and sweet I and was shoveling it in. I got a little distracted and looked away. When I looked back my bowl contained three grains of rice.

Post Op Clears to full liquids

I filled my water bottle with Injury flavorless protein and crystol light 2x a day. That was an automatic 40 grams consumed with my water (I needed the crystal light to cover the "non taste" of the protein).... I also added a little benefiber to each drink.

    Acid Reducers.

I only had to take ppi's for 5 weeks. I'm on day 2 without and have quite a bit of burning. I got some gavison (thanks for the tip oregondaisy) because I understand that tums and rolaids can cause rebound (thanks again oregondaisy). I'm going to go 5 days and if its not any better I will go back on my ppi. Its just that they keep you from absorbing some stuff and your body does need a little acid... plus I don't want to take meds forever. We'll see how it goes. Its pretty common for people to have to take a ppi post op. Its worth asking your doc.
  6. Its pretty normal to be able to get in a lot of runny stuff. Its fine at first because the idea is just to get something.... anything in you. Thats why once on solids we have to avoide sliders and mushies.... stick with lean meats and veggies and fruits.... in that order. For now its fine.... give your body what it needs to heal. You'll have plenty of restriction when you hit solids. Stacey
  7. 47 lbs in 10 weeks is really good!!!! Your right, ecercising will help but it seems like your doing great. Welcome and thanks for posting

    Full liquid stage--day 3-13 post-op

when I felt like I just had to have more I drank Glucose control boost. Regular Boost and Ensure have losts of sugar but the glucose control has 4 grms. It was pretty satisfying when my body started demanding more nourishment
  9. I am a fiber baby too. When I was a kid I was hospitalized several times for severe constipation resulting in high fever and vomiting. I have always eaten lots and lots of fiber. My doc told me to avoid stuff like bran fiber...metamucil...fiber one etc for the first 5 weeks. After that he said I should be fine eating whatever.... but until then I have been drinking copious amounts of benefiber which he said is great (as with all fiber you have to have lots of water). Hope thats helpful stacey
  10. I consumed a lot more calories when I was on mushies than I do now. That stuff just slides right down. Now I am careful to eat solid proteins and very few sliders. I am full pretty quick when I eat solid food. You may find the same thing to be true when you are able to eat solid food. On about day 10 (I was supposed to be on full liquids) I ate some cheese bread... just a couple of bites. I was so scared I had screwed it all up and I was certain that I had caused some damage. Lots of us worry about this kind of stuff but you'll probably be okay once you hit solids.

    Approved!!!!

yea for you!!!! your new life is waiting for you
  12. This is a total guess... so as always you're doctors advice is going to be the best. That said... it seems like at 10 days out, as long as you are listening to your body you should be able to do the stuff you are describing. I wouldnt push anything... once it starts to feel like a strain I would stop. This is not time to push through the pain. I think that being carful about lifting is a big deal because you don't want a hernia. I saw a great post on here and I wish I could remember who to credit.... but they said that your incision sites are a very good indicator of your staple line. If your incisions are looking strong.... like they could handle some pulling and twisting.... that's a good indicator of whats going on inside your body in terms of healing. Hope that helps Stacey

    Headache for 2 days now...

Kicking up the carbs may be helpful. Boy.... my body just did a complete freeze at about three weeks. No matter what I did..... I think I have broken the stall but I don't know. I am not weighing because it was making me a little nuts. Its certainly a lot easier to make good choices now that I can have solid food. When I was stalled I was so tired.... I could barely exercise without wanting to faint or puke. It was like my body was just not willing to let go of any of its reserves for energy (and I have plenty to spare). Now when I exercise I can feel when my body kicks in and starts burning... so I think that means my furnace is going again. Not sure though... I just know I have to stay away from that scale if I want to stay sane. :scared0:

    Testify SISTA Testify

My biggestr fear with the surgery was tht I would only be able to get a little bit of food in my stomach.... but my body would need more. I was often hypoglycemic if I went without food and I was worried that I would get low blood sugar and be unable to raise my glucose level. It was bad.... glucose would get so low that I would become disoriented and confused, uable to process information etc... I have had zero incidents of hypoglycemia since surgery. When I eat my 3-4 ounces of food... not only is my stomach full but I am SATISFIED!!!!! It truly is amazing. So glad I did it!!!!!
  15. whats gavascon..... it it otcit is the same as tums or rolaids.

    Time Off?

I took 2 weeks and frankly it was too much. I would have done better if I had been at work. Sitting around waiting to "heal" is no fun.... too much free time that I couldn't fill with food (old habits die hard). I would have been fine to go back after 5 days. I was still a little sore and swollen but I would have been happier at work (and I don't really like my job). I can be pretty sedentary at work if I need to be. I wish I hadn't used all my time up. Thats just me....... Stacey
  17. I'm so glad your feeling so good. My recovery was pretty easy too... just a little more sore than it sounds like you are. I just wanted to throw in to be careful about the exercise. Even though your feeling great you are still healing. Don't push it and follow you docs instructions. Most say just walking for a few weeks. You don't want to mess up your lovely surgery. Congratulations Stacey

    Back Home

Yea!!! good for you. Its really true what people are saying.... it gets better every day. You'll be feeling great before you know it. I was dealing with gas till around day 6. It does go away though. take care stacey
  23. I had the same issue with BA Vitamins. I have found that if I mix them in a smoothie or protien drink I can tolerate them.
  24. Pain is always a good indicator. Of course you will have some discomfort but if it hurts don't do it. I was not able to drink much at all till about day 3... but by day 4 or 5 I could do quite a bit. You may just have a bit less swelling than some. I have plenty of restriction when it comes to food so don't worry to much about that. Water is great for the healing process.... keep up the good work Stacey
