After years of diets not pulling thru completely to my wieght lose goals, I become dangerously close to becoming diabetic. My doctors and mother suggested LapBand weightloss surgery. I talked to a nutrionist and went thru the right things, proved it was not just a way out, that itruely needed help, I lost 30 pounds before the surgery, then everything stopped working, the calorie watching, the gym. I wasnt losing weight again,if I was it was less then a pound a week. And my doctors told me that the surgery owuld be the best choice as I was prediabetic,41 AV i think, i had pre hypertension,my cholestorol was 280.At my young age many ppl are a bit shocked that I got the surgery. I actually do not know anyone with lapband in my area, although I know many of my peers have parents, and family members in their 40s and 50s with lapband. There is a support group at the hospital, I have went once, during the Chef night, not a single other person showed up so I got my own personal chef to cook me some tilapia fish, lol.I got the surgery on June 12th 2009 at 309 pounds and as of March 17th, 2010 I am 229lbs.  I slept and layed around for about 3 days, then went back to my summer math class at the college afterwards. During those 3days I had a reality check and noticed all my horrible eating habits and how they were inside my heads, mainly my appetite. I'm a voyager, I roam the kitchen, handful of cereal, slice of cheese or lunchmeat here and there. I dont do that anymore.I am still unable to have majority of things, but compared to others a lot. I'm uncomfortable with red meat, but I can still eat it,nothing more then hamburger. No bread, but breaded chicken which I try to stray from. Most sweet things I dislike now, while veggies are interesting and intrigueing in flavor now, but the squishy/crunchy texture is still a mental problem @_e like bugs to me. I cant eat green beans anymore, this makes me sad. NO soda, which is disappointing, as I am a connosuier of soda thats not brand name,i had about 254 bottles/cans of IBC,stewarts,Boyle, etc. But now I enjoy nothing but tea, mainly Arizona, snapple, and peace tea. I like really strong tea though. Gunna invest into a tea press soon. My bad habits are reeses pieces and Icees, ice cream! also I can eat cake, cookies, muffins, as long as there water around, this a challenage to end my bad habits once and for all. I live with my mom whos a bit on the heavy side as well, and my sister comes back home every now and then and brings my moms desire for junk food and dishes I cant eat. SO as normal I have obstacles, mainly temptations are still there, with its back massages and stubby grip =_=......As a college student, finding out I can drink with this is bad, worse that since I cant have carbonation, vodka, rum and tequila are my friends, in extremely small amounts...uh..crispy tacos and thin crust pizza...I cant eat pasta, it gets stuck in my throat even with lots of chewing.
Octber holloween candy, november thanksgiving that last for weeks in my family,Xmas foods, new years drinking and working a firework stand with fast food chinese and during that whole time i didnt get a shot for the band, and now i'm slowly starting to lose weight again instead of the "usual" 5 to 12 lbs. The scale and weight training class are messing with me.I am learning how to cook veggies and asian style food so I wont become bored with cheesy spinach, creamy tomato soup(usually with goldfish/tortilla chips and cheese)teriyaki chicken, and not eat so much white rice. I'd like to learn indian and Asian cokking styles, and french soups and blah blah blah etc.
As you can tell I am a Rambler.
