Hi All- It's been a while since I checked in. I went for my first fill on April 30th, he decided to wait another 4 weeks since I am feeling some restriction w/o the fill. I can drink fluids and eat Soup without any problem, beef is something I really have to focus to chew. I saw my nutritionist last week. Its a good thing I saw her, I needed some reminders about portions, I really need to buckle down and focus on getting enough Protein and taking care of the pouch. I have had some pain from not focusing on chewing and some PB as well. Had a great walk yesterday lots of hills beautiful weather, I also have a dumb bell dvd that I need to make part of my routine... it's only 23 minutes, must make the time. Have a great day!!

Good Morning- Hope everyone is doing well:smile2: The holiday and spring break with everyone at home has been a bit rough, my food was more random than I'd like, I really need to buckle down and focus on nutrition. My first fill isn't until April 19, though my pouch is working pretty good right now. It's gorgeous here I'd like to get some walking in today.

tjgibson1968, It took me about 5 days to be able to take a deep breath, I also used the heating pad quite a lot, it sounds like you are doing well, keep resting you'll feel much better soon.

Here is the area for the March 2010 Bandsters: March 10 Bandsters - LAP-BAND®® There is a March Marauders graphic to add to your profile if you like, I don't think we're official much beyond that, Should we start a new chat thread every week or every month? Does someone want to, or has someone volunteered to be the thread starter? I'm afraid I'd forget..., probably should be someone who works at a computer. "March Marauders April Chat" would start on Thursday

O.K. guys, I just struggled with my own profile when I reset my ticker ( lost 10 pounds!!!) Anyway I noticed that the March Marauders graphic URL wasn't pasting in my profile, what I did was click the URL and pull up the graphic, then I cut the URL from the top bar and pasted it directly in the profile area, that seemed to work, hope it made sense... I'm kinda technologically impaired

Good Morning- Seeing the Doc at 10:30, I'm bringing my food log in to show what I ate yesterday, it's pretty carby because of Cream of Wheat, I was feeling Iron deficient after TOM (happened right after surgery, bleh) and Cream of Wheat is full of iron... and also carbs. I am really ready for at least some fish. I am also a bit curfudled about conflicting responses from the medical folks at the surgeons. I've made a little list to go with my Food Log, questions about gall stones, caffeine (Oh man I MISS coffee!) and calorie intake. It sounds like everyone is doing great, take care of yourselves Laurie

Hey everyone!! I was banded on the 18th, so I'm 10 days out. First two days were he** on wheels. Feeling really good now, only a bit sore around port area. I've been on full liquids, my first post-op appointment is tomorrow so I'll see if I can transition to mushies. It's been a challenge to keep my protein high enough on fluids. I've ordered an exercise dvd for using dumbells. I'm going to ask my Doc when it's o.k. to start the routine, done a little walking not as much as I'd like since the weather is not cooperating. I've not weighed myself, I'll see the number tomorrow on the Docs scale, my clothes feel more loose. I really need to get over the scale paranoia if I'm going to follow the bunny below...

I have a friend who's been banded for three years, she said things got a pretty tough for her before he first fill but her hunger subsided once she'd had it. I'm beginning to feel the hunger too, gonna start counting my days down to the first fill...

Hi Blawndy, I would like to see the March group find cohesion, but I don't quite know how we should be unified. This forum is so big I'd like to have one place to go, and with everyone starting around the same time we'd all be discussing some of the same issues, especially at first. I guess we need at least 1 central/general March thread per month? I'd like to hear some other folks opinions about it. (hope you are healing well and feeling good) Laurie

Hi Blawndy Welcome:smile2: I'm still trying to figure this forum out as well, so glad your surgery went well. So far I've stayed pretty focused on sipping, but as I've been getting around more and taking the kids to school, rushing, I've had a couple of gulping times where I've had to correct myself, hopefully we'll get used to it I've lost a gained so many times I can't recall them all. My last loss was when I hit 40, I went from 210 down to 160 using fitday to calculate my nutrition and I faithfully exercised, I regained and then some up to 240, got high blood pressure and decided to get the band after seeing it work for a friend, she's over 3 years banded and has done great. Take good care of yourself as you heal glad to meet you, Laurie

Take it slow and take good care of yourself finding me, glad it went well:smile2: Keeping you in my thoughts anewman Good Luck!!!:smile2::smile2::w00t::smile2: ( I actually liked it being earlier so I didn't have to dwell too long)

I haven't weighed myself, I am just going by the Doc's scale. My jeans are lose though, and my face looks less full. Usually when I lose weight I can really feel it in my tummy, but with the band healing up, that area feels weak though I know that will get better. I'm not a fan of the scale I'll probably start using it at some point but maybe not, I may rely on the tape measure for at least a while, just not sure yet. Just want to focus on getting my protein and nutrients right now. Thinking of you tjgibson1968 Good Luck!! :Banane20::smile2::Banane20::smile2::huggie:

Do March 2010 bansters have a name yet?
clayr replied to btrieger's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi, I love the name! Hope it's o.k. I grabbed one too:smile2: -
Drinking is fine, my Doc has me on clear fluids for first 7 days so I've not eaten yet, I did have my first golfball experience trying to swallow a vitamin last evening. Hunger hasn't been too bad, I don't really think about it until my kids need to be fed.

Hope you are feeling better Tammy!! I was banded on the 18th, the Morphine they gave me made me very nauseated so they gave me something to counter it, which just knocked me out completely. I'd wake up get asked "How are you feeling", I'd say "nauseated" then they'd knock me out again. Finally they stopped the morphine and I was able to get up and walk around. The x-ray procedure to see the swallow test was kinda surreal, the table was very hard, and the young Doogie Howser techs weren't very helpful at helping me move, I was so thirsty I actually almost liked the nasty fluid they gave me to drink. First two days were very rough, but I feel great now, I agree also learning not to gulp is a challenge. Best help was a chair with lots of pillows for support to sleep in, I'd have used a recliner if I had one. Mine has arm rests that I could use to pull myself up, way easier than trying to get out of bed. Good Luck to everyone:smile2:

Hi, I was banded last Thursday, the first two days were very rough post op, but I am feeling great now, albeit with some soreness especially on my left side port area. Spent some time sleeping in a chair with lots of supporting pillows when I got home because laying down, and trying to get back up, was so uncomfortable (painful). Best of Luck!!!

Hello, My name is Laurie:smile: I had my surgery on Thursday, today is the first day I feel pretty good, its a bit bumpy (o.k. really bumpy) at first, but I am so happy I did it! I'm pleased to find this forum, my doc has a support group but it is only once a month, and is a bit of a drive for me. I'm glad to be here and looking forward to meeting some of you:smile:
-
Thanks for the welcome  I'm so glad the band has worked so well for you 60 pounds is great!! Yes I always listen to the Doc, emotionally though, a once a month meet just isn't enough with all the newness of learning how to work with my band.
