My story began many yrs ago as I have been pretty much overweight most of my adult life.  My parents both are diabetics and both have high blood pressure.  My mom passed away 2 weeks shy of her 65th Birthday on Aug 22, 2009 due to a possible blood, clot secondary to surgery from complications to diabetes.  My mom not only left behind my dad but 3 children including myself, our spouses and 6 grandchildren.  I do not want to do the same to my husband, children and family, so I have made a life changing decision.     I met with my surgeons office Feb. 17, 2010 for an all day seminar.  I came home and immediately started my diet.  I have cut out all soda, chips, all fast food and 90 % of my carbs. I was told by the surgeons office that my insurance co will cover it although I will still have to be approved by them for it.  My insurance co does not require that I keep any weight off for a certain amt of time prior to surgery but my surgeon requires that I lose 15lbs ahead of time.  I have to meet with my PMD, I have to go to the gastroenterologist to have an EGD, the cardiologist to have a cardiac clearance and the psychiatrist for a mental health eval.  I also have to meet with their dietician twice and go to their support group at least twice.  I met with my surgeon I met with my surgeon and dietician on 3/16/10 and I have already lost 5.5 lbs.  I am going to the cardiologist on 3/24 and the gastroenterologist on 3/29.  My surgeon is confident that if I get all my to do's done and still lose some more weight, that I can have a target date for the end of April.  I go back to the surgeon April 13, so we will see then what happens next.  My husband, children and dad have all joined the gym to enable my weight loss process.
