Rubie: Hope you feel better soon! And congrats to all the newly Banded Bunnies! Started my first day of mushies with a mushed banana for Breakfast and a scrambled egg for lunch. I feel full have a little bit of heartburn as my stomach gets used to this new feeling after 24 days of liquids! -
Bloating and Gas...how do I get rid of it?
nycphoenix replied to DeLytfulD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if its a coincidence or not but i looked up alternative therapies for gas after STILL having crippling gas/shoulder pain and tried out the acupressure points they suggested and now the gas I'm getting is going out through the proper channels instead of migrating to my shoulder. Woot! Of course i've also been doing chamomile and peppermint teas and gas-x but for some reason after doing acupressure i haven't had shoulder pain so far! Put this in the "wont hurt might help" file: lay down measure three finger lengths down from navel. Press down on spot with index finger release while exhaling find spot four fingers up from your inside ankle bone. press down find spot four fingers down from your knee on the outside edge of your shin. flex your foot. the muscle that bulges is where you press down -

still having a hard time drinking protein drinks and the left shoulder pain is crippling today. i ve walked like hell and im tired pity party of one your table is ready -
I'm not up to food yet but i would scour menu pages dot com to look at menus but i figure middle eastern, South American, South Asian has a lot of dips and stews. the sashimi idea is excellent there is also naruto, sushi rolled with sliced cucumber and naki tori (sp?) beef wrapped around scallions. asian cuisines also have beancurd and tofu a lot of the classic steak houses are putting together fancy burgers and so many people are carb phobic now it would be easy to say skip the bun without raising an eyebrow

Lap Band Surgery Day Stories
nycphoenix replied to pennyt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery Day: Went in at 8:30am. Filled out paperwork in a waiting room and then told to go through the doors. I thought that was it but it was just another consult room with no tv, no reading, no clock. Was told by the nurse that I could have people wait for me in second area but Mikey and Dad preferred to go get some breakfast and fill out my scrip for liquid lortab (vicodin, an old friend). Around 11am they met me again to sit with me. By then, I had been vistited by a surgical resident asking me questions, a researcher to wonder if i would participate in a study about anti nausea meds (sure) and a nurse who brought a gossip magazine. Mikey and Dad came in with meds and well fed (I hated them for a minute, going to have bagels, hmph). then the nurse gave me the go ahead to change into scrubs. then it was two visits wfrom the anesthesiologist and the surgeon and I was escorted to the OR a little after noon. My first reaction was BRRRRRR!. It was freezing. Got in a room was put on a narrow table and there was a flurry of activity. Lidocaine on my left hand to numb me for an IV(that burned!), a review of my name, putting warm blankets on me grabbing my arms out to attch me to things. EKG leads everywhere. My legs being wrapped in compression sleeves. And then black...(not even a countdown) I woke up to a nurse looking down on me and smiling. I was in another room and sooo thirsty!. I remember my family coming in and the nurse using a sponge tip to wet my mouth and lips. the pain kicked in and next thing i know i was out again. Woke up again (I was given morphine apparently) being wheeled into a room. I was confused and asked for the time and my family and why am i in aroom for same day surgery. I was told the sent my dad and Mikey out for a couple of hours and they will be back. I was put in a room to be observed and given ice chips. The goal was to swallow ice chips then liquids and WALK until i urinated and then I could go home. And they had to measure my urine in a cup to make sure it was enough. Do you know how much ice you have to consume to pee? A LOT. And I walked about 20 times around the floor. I was on a mission to get the hell out of there even if it was at 11pm at night. I wasnt that far off. We left at 10:30pm. Highlights: I was given full salt chicken broth! OMG SOOO GOOD! Iw as given a heparin shot and a shot of antinausea medication. before leaving. Only did the lortab for two days and now just trying to keep myself hydrated and walking so off to walk around the apt again -
