    Great jeans!

Thank for sharing... Lane Bryant came out with something similar but they are $$$
  2. Hey Moma- I was just talking to my doc about this yesterday actually. I asked him about using straws and he told me that some people take too much air in when they drink because they gulp. He said the key is sipping.... (and FYI he said it was fine to use a straw as long as I sipped rather than gulped)

    I thought I should share

    Very cool thanks for sharing!
  5. Kristina- We have lost almost the same weight in the same time frame.... I keep telling myself as long as I keep making good choices than this will come off. As inspiration I use the two ladies in my office who were banded- one lost a ton of weight fast- like 80lbs in 4 months- the other was a slow loser- two years out and the fast loser has gained a lot back- the slow loser looks FANTASTIC!! She just reached her goal. Keep up the good work!
  6. Single mom here too- granted my son is older (7) but I needed help driving him to school for the first 2 days and it was nice to have someone to cook and keep me company
  7. My doc lets me take Ibuprofen... even without a band you shouldn't eat it like candy but sometimes an NSAID is needed.... on the other hand if you feel strongly about following docs advice ask the ear doc if he can prescribe some Tylenol #3- (with codeine) that is band friendly and will help with that awful pain you are feeling (ear drum rupture= OUCH!)

    Eating like a hog

You are so not alone... I was banded about a month before you and I have been gaining and losing the same 6-8 lbs for almost two months!!! I am right at 39 loss and most of that was in the post op since my doc doesn't do preop diet... I went for my third fill today so now I have 7cc in a 14cc band. My doc is actually pleased with my loss because to him I lost 6 lbs in 3 weeks- but he doesn't realize I was just on the high end last visit LOL.... Anyhow he looks at weight loss and then asks me how much solid food I can eat in a sitting and if I have been throwing up (still haven't yet)....
  9. Depending on how your doc does the surgery he may not see much down there - some go between the legs and others do it on the side... you are draped and the only open area is the surgical area.. the nurses see more of you for sure... Do what ever you are comfortable with and remember they have seen many many big folks on the table.

    Exercise Goals #3

Froggie hope this week turns out better for you! I did 15 mins of back and sides this am.... my GI system is acting up though so that will be all for today.... Hopefully I lose a pound or two for my trouble LOL 15/180
  12. Leigha- My workout haven't quite reached the super intense level- but for me it is a huge change cause I used to do no exercise... The scale kind of stalled for me and then I didn't work out for 4 days b/c of my foot and WHOA 6 lbs slid off my body.... So perhaps it is that water theory mentioned before.

    Chinese Egg Drop Soup?

I had some toward the end of my clear liquid hell- strained em just like you said and I cannot express how good I felt after eating it... I don't know if it was the fat or the protein from the eggs but I felt like a million bucks!!!

    Sugarless gum and other questions..

I chewed gum too-- rumor has it when your band is nice and filled that gum can clog up the works if accidentally swallowed- but post op should be fine- I swallowed some by accident and no issues... Diarrhea yep normal Protein shooters- I used them religiously post op- really liked the Pro Slam ones I got a GNC-- they all taste a little different- there are some with the word whey in title (also from GNC) that made me want to vomit- but the rest other than being too sweet were fine- some people Water em down- some add a crystal light or other flavor to taste- I just drank as quickly as I could-COLD!

    Need a jump start

When I was stuck on a weight a few weeks ago I did liquids for a day and it kind if reset things for me..

    what needed post-op??

Post op I used a lot of protein powder/ shakes- but like previous poster I only use them now when I feel tight. I also used a mini food processor a lot during mushy phase and still do now from time to time. Other than that I use nothing that I didn't use preop.

    Wine Cooler

That actually happened to me about 6 weeks out- But I couldnt finish it because it actually hurt like hell. I drank some diet seven up in a mixed drink last weekend (almost three months out) and it went down with no problems...

    Info Session

wow! please go to some other informational session. The first doc I went to actually told me the opposite... he stated that the bypass had so many complications down the road and that many bypass folks end up gaining all their weight back and then getting banded to lose the weight. He did say that for some the bypass is the right choice because of the quick loss- basically those who are going to die or become irreversibly harmed soon if they don't lose the weight. When I worked on the surgical floor of the hospital I had many many bypass patients who were terribly sick from the procedure. I had a women who made me promise never ever to get a bypass- more than one patient told me that they would rather live fat than put up with the complications they were having from the procedure. Look at all the famous people who had the bypass (Randy Jackson, Carnie Wilson etc) who have put the weight back on.... Two days after I was banded my friends relative had bypass surgery... yes she has lost over 50lbs and I am just over 30lbs but she has been in the hospital for the past week getting her IV fluids because she can't keep herself hydrated or nourished and she already had to have her gallbladder removed. I on the other hand am working, playing with my son and honestly can't remember the last time I had so much energy! I'll take the slow loss over the hospital any day. Yes some folks regain with bands too... no WLS is a magic wand that makes you thin with no effort.... they are tools that help you get there.... I wonder if these surgeons you were talking with are more motivated by the almighty dollar since the band is the least expensive? Whew... that was a long post!

    Very sad at the moment...

Ohh sweetie.... I am so sorry to hear this. Kudos to you for not turning to food... sometimes a hard core workout is great for releasing stress and elevating your feel good hormones. This cannot be easy for you. Prayers coming your way...
