    I need a friend

I have been a slow loser as well. I just got my 4th fill and now have 9cc in a 14cc- I definitely feel a lot more restriction now. You are in Alaska right? Have you tried looking for a closer place to get a fill? Hospital or GI doctor? Or are you that far out in the wilderness? I definitely agree with previous poster exercise is the key. Also, if you can try going back to your post op diet for a few days to reset yourself. You can feel free to PM me too...

    I need advice on odor

I have the same problem when I am either dehydrated or have ketones (comes with losing the fat)
  3. I had 7cc in a 14 from July until yesterday- I got stuck a few times from trying wrong things, not chewing or random stuff like a tomato skin blocking my port. I thought I had restriction but when I went to get checked under flouroscopy (for the first time) after I drank the barium the PA was like "You are wide open"- she then gave me 2cc-
  4. Your post made me chuckle! I was being questioned by an MA the other day and she was like do you have diabetes? what do you take for blood pressure? cholesterol?- I looked at her thinking - hey just because I am fat doesn't mean I have all of these things- In fact I have none of them.. grrrr
  5. I just had a fill yesterday- 9cc in a 14cc band. This was my first fill with my new doc and he is strict too- Clears for 3 days (Wednesday included), full/liquid purees for a week, soft foods for a week then progress as tolerated. My old surgeon pretty much didn't care- I asked him if I should stay on liquids and he said just for that day but then I could eat whatever.... This guy I left. I am going to follow the new guy, at worst I will have a nice little weight loss.

    Need more protein!

I like the EASadvantage too- The cheapest place I have found them by far is Target- even cheaper than Walmart! I also take a 32oz bottle (I reuse gatorade bottles) then I fill it with water, a crystal light packet (or similar) and add a scoop of unflavored protein powder. I like the one from GNC 100% Whey. So much better than drinking all that sweet milky stuff all the time.
  7. Have you tried toast? Seems that it goes down easier for a lot of people. Or maybe a wrap? Also, I have heard that you should wait for at least a year reaching goal weigh to let things settle before you get plastic surgery. But I am so far from goal I haven't really begun looking into it.
  8. I love this post. I have let my weight get in the way of so many things. Rock climbing, camping out (people might hear me snore), going out when I know there are people around who might see me and how fat I have become. I do not dance in public or ever really put myself out there.... god the list goes on and on- I have even convinced myself and those around me that I hate the beach- but I love the beach! And I love rides but I don't get on a lot of them because I think I won't fit- even when I read online that the ride is fat friendly I still don't get on because what if the online was wrong? It's so messed up... and the funny thing is I have never been skinny so people know me as the fat chick- not this fat but really to most people fat is fat.

    Bandiversary

Happy Bandiversary!!! Half the weight in a year sounds good to me. Next year, the other half
  10. liquids are tough but stay on them as long as your doc recommends. You might be able to eat other things but you have no idea what damage it may be doing to your stomach. When you drink liquids the stomach doesn't have to do much work to process it and send it along its way... the more solid the food the more it has to work to send it off to the intestines- the more work the more pulling and pushing on your incision/staples/stitches/band- the more risk of complications. When I got sick of the sugary stuff I got egg drop soup and strained it. I also used other strained soups and added non flavored GNC Whey Protein to them to increase the protein.

    delayed reaction to fill

I had this happen and have read about others having delay as well.
  12. Had the same reaction myself- showed it to the surgeon and the allergist I work for-both agreed it was a reaction. I took oral antihistamines (not Benadryl because it makes me too sedated) and also put hydrocortisone on them....

    Any of you gamers?

I was addicted to the Sims Online when I was pregnant and would sit there are eat snack food and play for hours. Then I got into online spades and other puzzle type games. In the past 2 years my son started playing toontown and I ended up getting hooked!! Arghhh- I do think it contributes to my obesity- I actually recently canceled both his and my accounts. I think the computer in general keeps me fat-facebook, this site etc etc...

    What's for lunch today?

I had a protein drink, 1 slice of buffalo flavored sliced chicken (deli style) and a teaspoon of sour cream & onion dip - very weird lunch

Can I ride on a airplane?

If you go on Southwes'ts website they have the policy- it has to do with the width of the seats.... I forget the # but basically if when you sit your "spread" is bigger than that you have to pay for an extra seat. They reimburse people if the plane is not full I believe. IMO use a different airline if possible- one that doesn't discriminate against plus sized people. Jet Blue is awesome if its where u live.

    anyone have this problem?

I have seen other people complain about that as well- look for posts about "muffin tops"....
  17. LOL about the waiter- I have had that problem too! Now I just have them bring it because I don't want to deal. Good luck with your first fill!
  18. I was just talking about this with my new (YEAH) nutritionist- I got restriction after my third fill - but it has gone away significantly- she says its because of losing abdominal fat. So now I am scheduled for a fill with my new (YEAH) doc next week.. I always thought once you had restriction you had it but apparently not!
  19. I'm from central Jersey. I also am an RN (Allergy, Asthma & Immunology) & am working on my Family Health Nurse Practitioner degree.... Oh and a mommy to one awesome 7 year old boy
  20. So after much internal debate I have made the decision to change my doc. I never really cared for my surgeon- he is one of those who does it for the money- kind of a jerk (although I hear he wasn't always like that.) He does do great surgeries and I have no complaints about that but the aftercare leave A LOT to be desired. I have pretty much been flying solo with this- no nutritionist haven't spent more than 15 minutes total with my doc since the surgery- 3 fills- last on in July. So anyhow I am kind of excited- I want the new guy to be strict and have rules and I am excited to get a fill under flouroscopy!!! Has anyone else changed their doc?
  21. I have had a similar experience to Elfie with the sugar free sweets... I find they do set me up for more cravings!!!
  22. I have read many many times on here that folks who have long post op liquid diets and got hungry have called their NUT or Surgeon and gotten the OK to advance...
  23. RPM do a little experiment with yourself- try going very low carb, no sugar, no white flours for 2 weeks- this should kill the sugar demon!!!

    Non meat Protein

I haven't eaten any meats that come from mammals (beef, pork, venison etc) for 18 years but I do eat boneless poultry and fish. I have been vegan, vegetarian and all other sorts of combos and find my current diet to be the best- I didn't even have a fatty liver when I was operated on :smile2: My fat was from my carb addiction!!! But since my meat eating is limited I do look for non meat sources here is what I found. Obvious non meat choices are cheese and eggs (try sneaking them into things if you can tolerate them as the main dish) Also check out the vegetarian/health foods in the supermarket- plenty of "veggie" meat high Protein choices (at least where I live) Other options: amounts can vary somewhat Tempeh — 1 cup — 41 g Lentils — I cup — 18 g Chickpeas — I cup — 12 g Tofu — 4 oz — 9 g Peanut Butter — 2 tbsp — 8 g Soymilk — I cup — 7 g Brown rice — 1 cup — 5 g Whole wheat bread — 2 slices — 5 g Broccoli, cooked — I cup — 4 g Avocado- 1 cup- 4.5 g Peas- 3.5oz- 7 g Yogurt-8oz- 7-13g (greek is higher) Baked Potato- 8oz- 9g List of High Protein Foods - food Exchange List for Proteins, Carbohydrates, and Fats - Zone Diet - Weight Loss
