A little pain while walking
monkeymama replied to x96oun's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like gas to me! From my experience and what I am reading on these boards it seems like the gas problem is one that hangs around for a while. Its not all from surgery but from the band and the new diet. -
This is the first time I am journaling. I like it because it is teaching me about nutrition... I can honestly say there are things that I was eating that I had no idea how much calories were in them. It's been a wake up call... A tool that is letting me see just how I got to be so fat. It seems like all of you who posted are losing well without it so I guess its not necessary for weight loss- just one more tool in the box that some need and others don't.

monkeymama replied to Buckeye's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc told me nothing but walking until my 6 week post op- I think he is super conservative. I can't wait to get back to the gym. -
Be careful with sleep aids. PM or Benedryl type stuff!

I took Ibuprofen for over a year practically daily. My gastro doc made me stop... and let's just say that things got moving pretty quickly once it was out of my system! Like people have said everyone is different... -

Need your advice and thoughts, banded 3 weeks ago today...
monkeymama replied to shelbymooy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am four weeks out and in the same position. My scale hasn't moved in a week... ugh... I log on sparkpeople and am consistently under in calories and carbs. I can't make sense of it... I am so annoyed I almost went to Wendy's after work thinking screw it I guess it doesn't work (thankfully I talked myself out of it). It actually looks like I have gained back some weight when I look in the mirror UGHHH I have read so many posts saying wait for restriction- but I have some restriction still from surgery and am eating so little I don't see what difference restriction will make.... Hopefully someone has some insight here... I am considering going back on liquids. -

April Bandsters - How are you doing?
monkeymama replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK this is annoying!!!! I was banded on 4/27... lost nicely.. eating a protein diet and around 800 calories a day... I weigh myself on Mondays and Thursdays (record on Mondays) I am annoyed because I lost two pounds from last Monday to Thursday and now I gained them back!!! I know I know bandster hell and such- but I actually have restriction without a fill! So although ultimately it is a wash from last Monday- nothing gained nothing lost I am still annoyed... thanks for letting me complain :tongue2: -
Banded a week ago and no restriction
monkeymama replied to anglov's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ravyn... you are not alone I had a lot of post op restriction with an empty band. I am almost a month post op and I still have some. Before surgery I could EAT!!! Now I get full fast. Granted I can eat more than two weeks ago but it is still not nearly as much as I used to be able to eat. What I think has been helping my hunger is that I am eating a mostly protein diet. It definitely fills me longer. I have also made a point of not eating pasta, bread and rice. The one time I ate some pastina (on my docs diet) it made my heart pound from the rapid rise in blood sugar that pasta causes and that was enough for me to say "never again"-- at least for the time being. -
Banded on 5/19 ~ protein concerns
monkeymama replied to mmesmama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used (and still do occasionally) the protein bullets/shots- they are 3oz and have anywhere from 25-45g protein in them... I have seen em at Walmart, Target and GNC- there are a lot of different brands some taste better than others- I liked the proslam45 best- someone on here suggested adding crystal light to make em taste better.... -
Need to start full liquids!
monkeymama replied to Lisa106678's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on clears only in the beginning and when I felt starved I got some egg drop soup and then strained it... it helped immensely (although now I can't even bear to smell it LOL) -
I give - ending six week post-op diet four days early...
monkeymama replied to Katy517's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seriously I commend you for lasting that long... I was on clear liquids for ten days and almost went batty... just make sure you don't jump ahead to quick- I went from purees to soft to fast and it hurt so I had to go back for a bit. -
really worried....
monkeymama replied to getting _slimN2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keara- I definitely questioned things post op- Between the pain meds, low caloric intake andafter effects of anesthesia, your body and mind have been on a roller coaster.... Please give it some time until your head is clear.... as they say "This too will pass" -
I am currently using sparkpeople.com... I have used the dailyplate.com as well... both are great. Spark people has a free blackberry app works on all models except the storm..

Did anyone's doctor put them on Actigall after surgery to prevent gallstones? My surgeon prescribed them but I am hesitant since all meds have side effects and I don't like taking any that are not necessary.
-
What did the doc say? I have a rash around my port incision... some sort of allergic reaction but its just on the skin... itches like mad. I am using hydrocortisone cream and xyzal pills for relief.

JUst DX with EpsteinBarr Virus
monkeymama replied to Whillow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just brushing up on this yesterday as it is suspected in a few kids at my per diem job... EBV aka Mono aka Kissing Disease... most of us have been exposed to it... spread through saliva.... watch the spleen.... exhaustion is common often for about a month... Never been diagnosed myself though! Hope you feel better soon  If I do remember correctly appetite loss may be a symptom as well- that could be a good thing:wink2: -

April Bandsters - How are you doing?
monkeymama replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Chuck I am with you on avoiding some foods. I am focusing on Protein foods and staying away from Pasta, bread and potato chips!! I have just started logging on spark people- although they keep telling me my calories are too low (700-900 range). -
Anyone else's incisions itch like hell? I am using vaseline lotion but OMG the itching is horrific!!!! Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

April Bandsters - How are you doing?
monkeymama replied to BusyMom1961's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Howdy Fellow Bunnies!!! I am well except this itching... seems I have hungry and not hungry days... but I always reflect back and realize that when I eat a lot its not really that much lol... -
I used the protein shooters (seen em at GNC, Walmart and Target)-- 25-45 grams of protein in 3 oz.. not the tastiest but a easy way to get the protein when on liquids (I was clears for 10 days)... Pro Slam tasted the best to me..
