  1. Yeah putting a whole meal in a blender does sound gross!!! When I got to soft foods however I did put chicken and fish in the food processer to make a sort of salad- but it comes out like tuna.. Good Luck!!
  2. Hmmmm eventually you will need a fill. I would say stay away from simple carbs like potatoes for now- if you are going to do carbs first do veggies and if still hungry have a whole grain. Also maybe increase exercise?
  3. I also experienced some doubts/anxiety/depression in the post op period.... It does pass- and watching the scale go down helps alot Good luck on your journey
  4. I am going for my first fill appointment on Thursday and a think that somewhere in my brain there is some memory of the doc saying not to eat anything that day or clears or something before the fill.... Does this sound right to you guys?
  5. Anyone get weird stabby pain in around/under their right breast? It seems to high to be gall bladder... Maybe some weird gas pains? They are coming going today....

    Is this normal?

I don't know if I could eat that 2 weeks post op- I didn't even consider trying. Was that all for breakfast or was that three meals? I would steer clear of all those carby foods (waffles, corn bread, sandwich bread) and stick to proteins. Carby foods make you more hungry. The proteins will fill you up and keep you feeling full longer. As is said on here a lot- the band is just a tool to help with the loss- the work has to come from you.
  7. I second (or is it third) the protein shakes for breakfast- counting as a meal. I also keep one in the fridge at work for those days when I am running late so I don't eat the usual office snacks. When I drink it then I count it as sort of a snack and have a light supper when I get home.
  8. I was told to strive for around 4-6oz an hour of liquids
  9. Congrats to all the new folks in twoderville!

    4th of July Challenge!

After three weeks of not much at all I lost 9.5 this week!!! YEAH! I am so happy  Three things happened, I went back to the gym, I got my first fill and I increased my calories :smile2: Here the link if anyone needs it http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=0AhyOQ0oN4zWhdHlVTWxORnd3c2l2SG5Fd2dQYV90M2c&hl=en
  11. Is anyone or has anyone taken this medication? My surgeon prescribed it at my post op but I didn't take it. When I went for my fill yesterday he said I should really take it. It has some nasty side effects (or so I am reading)... was wondering if any of you have any experience with it.
  12. awesome post!!! I agree 100% all this negativity isn't going to help anyone- just make people feel bad.
  13. I have been taking pills since the day of surgery. Like previous poster I was prescribed pain meds in pill form. I have no problems with them. I have 5cc in my band and took my vitamins today with no problem. Some docs do tell folks to avoid aspirin and NSAIDs like advil and alleve...
  14. That seems to be the million dollar question... I had a fill the same day MY doc said liquids the rest of the day then advance your diet tomorrow if you are ready= I did liquids until this evening- had some pudding... so I guess that means mushy tomorrow ... BUT I have seen so many other versions of the post op diet on here.. from 4 days liquid post fill to no diet at all. What did your doc or nut say?
  15. I have the realize band and its on the other side pretty much where the blue line is... I have heard of other lap band people having a port where your new one will be and they like that they can show their new flatter tummies off with out the port sticking out.

    Actigall/Ursodiol

Danielle- Why are you taking the heparin? Clots?...
  17. I don't get the shocky pain.. but there are times when I feel like I am more acutely aware of my band. Vague is a good word indeed. I shrug it off cause after all there is a foreign body in me:tongue_smilie:

    Asprin

My doc allows me to take pills etc... I was taking all of my meds with no problem- even the big Omega 3,6,9 gels. I took giant prescription ibuprofens with no problem the other day. I didn't have a fill until yesterday so it may be different now?? I have chewable aspirin in the house in case I need it (I'm a hypochondriac about heart attacks lol)

    Caloric Intake, daily

I was eating around 800 a day and I stopped losing. I bumped it up to 1000 give or take and started losing again.

    Alcohol Consumption

I was banded on 4/27 and had a glass of wine on 5/21- no problems but I couldn't even finish the glass. On memorial weekend when I was out of town I had a bloody mary (on the rocks)- no problem there either (and it was so tasty!)...

    I hate isopure!!!!!

Grape frost is my favorite too... You can add a crystal light or other "to go" sugar free packet to it if you need better flavor but can't do the sugar lemonade.

    Protein

I live the EAS advantage low carb shakes when I am looking for super convenience ($5 for 4 at Target- cheapest I've found). Another easy protein for me is I mix the GNC unflavored powder with a G2 gatorade- it makes it look weird but it tastes good still. I also add the unflavored powder to many of the things I eat during the day.
  24. Got my first fill today- OMG it was so much easier than I expected. He didn't even numb it just popped the saline in- it hurt less than a second. And I got 5cc!! Holy cow I was expecting 1cc. He asked how much I can eat and I told him a little over a cup so I guess that he decided I can handle 5cc. (My band had 0) So far so good- drank water in the office and am sipping a protein shake now. I am so relieved it was easier than I expected
