So I just got back from vacation and have totally fell off the wagon with my exercise. Posting my goals on here worked so well for me last time that I am going to do it again. Gonna pick the pace up a little quicker this time around to get back where I was pre vacay.... My goal for the rest of this week is: (Wed-Sun) 100 minutes. Feel free to post your goals too!

April Bandster Bunnies - check in!
monkeymama replied to Froggie D's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello There! Just got back from vacation and I am doing well.... Still working on my sweet spot- Have lost about 50 lbs (think I put on a few on vacation)... need to reestablish my exercise routine. -
I was on the fence about this- not able to eat much this past week and a half but not really hungry (not true hunger anyway) and losing fine. However last night and today put me over- I guess all the reflux finally got to me because my throat hurt as well as the back of my tongue- and all day just one spoon of food felt so yucky. So I went to an appointment I has set up (thanks for the great advice fellow bandsters) and he took out 1/2 of the the 2cc fill I had gotten. OMG it is awesome! I didn't even realize how dehydrated I was even though my lips were all wrinkly looking. I drank so much (not at once of course) since the unfill- still drinking now.... I think I am too loose now but am going to leave it be until I get back from Disney. Gonna ask my doc to be slow on the fills because my sweet spot is somewhere between 8 and 9cc... how exciting to almost be there

So what exactly DOES good restriction feel like?
monkeymama replied to OneYearLater's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm wondering too-I think it is different for people though. This morning I was over restricted- uncomfortable to have more than a teaspoon or 2 in me, painful to have over a tablespoon- Now minus just 1 cc I am not quite restricted enough- able to eat 1/2 cup (probably a little more) easily- although not hungry from this portion. -
Sad to see one of the good ones go. These people think they are helping but they are only making people feel bad and possibly sending them back to the comfort of food.... It's a shame for you to leave though because that means the meanies win.

Change something... try new foods, try swimming, work on toning abdomen and upper body while you let your tendon rest.. -

Help-I'm Really Hungry
monkeymama replied to gracierose's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was struggling with no/little restricion I found that if I ate protein based meals and no simple carbs then I was less hungry- For me eating things like potatoes triggers the carb monster and I just want to eat more and more... I used a lot of recipes on the atkins website (lowered that fat a bit though for some of em) -
What to mix w/unflavored unjury protein powder
monkeymama replied to JMinDallas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My favorite is with the Weyers SF raspberry or lemonade. Stay away from the crystal light white grape doesn't mix good but the other crystal lights are good too. -

Help Sweet spot or not
monkeymama replied to JudyDF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Judy- I am going through the same thing that you are. I got a fill last week and although I can keep liquids down- my gut is telling me this is not right, my mind is telling me I don't want to live this way- because I cannot imagine eating any type of solid food (I am on full liquid/purees). I feel like I would maybe rather do this slower and develop better eating habits. On the other hand I lost more weight these last few days than I have in a long time so a part of me things maybe I should keep it this tight. I know there are people that do that- but I just don't think its for me.... sorry about the rant but wanted u to know you are not alone. (Elfie I am listening to your advice and waiting until Wednesday to make my decision) -
Getting Bummed Out...
monkeymama replied to dm5201's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't get discouraged. I went almost 2 months not losing pounds but losing inches. If you are exercising and eating right the pounds will eventually come off. Also, as others said look for more solid protein sources. We all lose at different speeds. -
dang you halloweem candy....
monkeymama replied to trishfish's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't do it on purpose but I am going away for Halloween this year and am SO happy! Not only do I not have to bring candy- but my son won't be bringing all that candy home either. -

What foods get stuck in your band?
monkeymama replied to use-to-be-cute's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The worst stuck I got is when I mistakenly thought I could eat a toasted bagel with cream cheese- OMG the pain was horrific. I also got stuck on a tomato skin and chicken breast- but I blame that on not chewing enough. These episodes occurred when I had 7cc in a 14cc band- but as others said you cannot judge by what other experiences are- fills vary so much on this board and what foods are ok for some are not for others- for instance I had no problem with eggs -
ONE YEAR Anniversary!
monkeymama replied to ca7696's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations on your success! -
Thanks guys... today is a little better-kept some cream of turkey soup down after drinking a hot beverage... I am going to call tomorrow and make my just in case appointment for the week before I leave.
-
Ok so I need some input here. I had a fill of 2cc on Wednesday. I am so restricted! I have only tried liquids/purees. Clears go down as long as I take small sips. Any thing thicker and I can only have like 3 teaspoons, tried pureed soup today and I pbd (but may have ate too much- which isn't alot)... I really do not think I will be able to eat anything remotely solid. I am flying on the 28th and am afraid that I will be too tight after flying. Is this how it is when you get restriction? Does it loosen up a little over time? Or do you think I should ask for a small unfill?

FYI it looks like they added some details about At kins to my post- the blue stuff to be exact - but anyhoo I'm glad to help.

10 Days Post Op and Already on Soft Foods
monkeymama replied to laurafranks82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on liquids for 10 days and then was skipped right to mushies by my doc- my band suffered no harm. -
I agree with previous posters stay on liquids for now. I would even go so far as to keep it to clear liquids as much as possible. I also agree that you need to call your doctor back- if the front desk isn't listening ask for the nurse or medical assistant. Tell them you are vomiting and can't keep liquids down- if they don't get you in right away then look for another doctor ASAP. Also, if you begin to get dehydrated then go to the ER.
