    1st Post-op doctor's visit...

Today, I went to the surgeon for the first time since I was released from the hospital... after my surgery. I had only lost 11 pounds so far but I was happy with that. The doctor was thrilled with my progress so I guess I am doing well. I am scheduled for my first fill on May 6th... I am excited and nervous too... I feel great. :tongue_smilie:

  3. I had lost 11 pounds since my surgery... I was a little disappointed but i know that i will really start to lose when he lets me eat normal protein packed food... these cream soups are heavy carbs and too fattening. Tuesday, i can start to eat food... thank goodness. My doctor is thrilled about my progress so I should be too... I feel great... so... My first fill and next appt is May 6th. Let me know how your first fill is... I am excited and nervous.

I'm in Washington State... on the Olympic Peninsula... right near where the Twilight series is set. My hernia is gone... Dr. Rehnke fixed it. It was so beautiful there. My husband and I road tripped around Washington and Oregon after our Alaskan Cruise last September.

  6. I'm good... a little nervous about my post-op visit with the surgeon on thursday... I told myself that I don't care how fast I lose weight but I hope after all the liquids and will power... I will have lost a good amount. I lost almost 15 pounds on the 12 days before my surgery.. I am hoping that I will have lost at least that much in these last 3 1/2 weeks... Keep your fingers crossed. It's a struggle getting used to my new diet... especially before my band gets it's first fill. How's your diet going?

  7. I am also a scrapbooker although... I am not into digital yet... I am interested in hybrid scrapbooking though, are you scrapbooking your weight loss journey?

  8. I am a fellow amateur photographer and scrapbooker... I love to see that you are as well... Are you scrapbooking your weight loss journey?

  9. I feel pretty great... I'm sick and tired of liquids... but it will be worth it. Dr. Rehnke is right about the diet and I didn't have any of the complications I was afraid of because of the opifast... I had less problems with the opifast as I did with the 2nd post-op week of clear liquids... then i wished for opifast. You will be really hungry but not until the 2nd week after surgery. The books all say that the lapband surgery causes extreme hunger for the first year after it. It will be better when I can eat again... but at least now I'm able to do yogurt, opifast(you will have some left), oatmeal, milk, sugar-free pudding, and cream soups. It's hard but will be worth it. I don't crave the carbs that got me into this in the first place... LOL... So that's wonderful. I am so excited for you... You will do great. Good Luck and you'll be in my prayers.

    2 Weeks Post-op...

:biggrin:Well, 2 weeks have gone past and I feel great... not perfect but so much better every day. I am still on liquids but I'm finally on full liquids... I have my first post-op appt. with my surgeon a week from tomorrow. Luckily, I went to my primary doctor and he found i have an infection in one of my incisions... that we are treating with a strong anti-biotic... The small incisions from the lapband installation have been healing well and besides a little itching are not bothersome but the incision for the filter for blood clots and the incision to fix my hernia are still a pain in my a$$... Hopefully, I will be feeling completely like myself soon... I went to the movies once with my husband, it was hard to sit up for 2 hours but nice to get out.... I missed the popcorn...LOL I went scrapbooking for a couple hours yesterday with a bunch of friends and that felt great... So I'm doing so much better. I'm excited to be taking this journey with you all.

    Banded March 26th!!!

I was banded March 23rd... since they also fixed my hernia I am still sore... I have been on a clear liquid diet for almost a month...2 weeks pre-op and 2 weeks post-op...luckily, i don't know if i gained any weight but my blood sugar and bllod pressure are all normal now...:bored: I look forward to eating real food but I still have 2 weeks of full liquids so real food starts the 20th... I can't wait! My doctor's diet is mostly protein with some green veggies if I still have room. I am excited to start my new life! I 'd look to stay in contact so we can go through this journey together.

Almost one week later... a New Band Geek

:cool:I first saw the surgeon in November 2009... the process is usually 4-6 months because i was through insurance' date=' self-pay goes much quicker. I also had no insurance for 2007-2008 so that put a monkey wrench in the medical records requirements part also.[/color']

Almost one week later... a New Band Geek

Well, tomorrow will be one week from my surgery... I'm a Band Geek finally. :thumbup:It's has been a hard week for me since my Band Leader, Dr. Rehnke had to fix a large hernia while installing my band so I just got home from the hospital yesterday. I'm still sore from the large incision to fix my hernia but my other small incisions don't hurt at all. I have one more week of my clear liquid diet before adding in full liquids which i look forward to the change... even though i've been forcing myself to take the liquids since i never feel hungry yet. :rolleyes2:My additions to the band lingo besides Band Geek(Me) and Band leader(Surgeon)... also our Supporters(friends, family, and you all) are my Bandaids. I'm feeling more like myself... I missed me.

Almost one week later... a New Band Geek

Thanx... I have too much time on my hands...obviously.
  17. hello... i haven't heard back from you... Is everything okay? I'm fine... it's a process and having my hernia fixed during the lapband installation has made my recovery very long-winded. I am still on clear liquids... it seems like forever... almost a month. but tuesday i start full liquids. So i can add yogurt, pudding, and cream soups... so that will be a change... How are you coming along?

I had my last pre-op surgeon visit today.

Before surgery, there was a 2 week liquid diet...after surgery there is a 2 week clear liquid diet and for the next two weeks after that full liquids... So 6 weeks total... but i'm not even hungry almost a week after surgery and have to force the liquids to stay hydrated so it's not as hard as it sounds. I'm sorry that i couldn't get back to you sooner, i just got home from the hospital yesterday. My surgeon also fixed a large hernia while installing my band...so i'm still pretty sore but dong alot better now... how are you feeling? I'm still on clear liquids for another week... so even though i'm really not hungry yet I'm looking forward to some cream soups and yogurt next week...LOL I never thought i'd say that. How's everything with you? *Maria*

I had my last pre-op surgeon visit today.

I met with Dr. Rehnke today for the last time before my surgery... I had lost 14.6 pounds in the last 12 days on my liquid diet... not a bad start. I am more excited than scared about tomorrow now... My surgery is late afternoon so i can sleep late and relax. I am putting it in God's hands now... where my life belongs.

  25. Hey... BFF(Band Friend Forever)... LOL I am so glad everything went well... My banding takes place tomorrow afternoon... but since he's also fixing my hernia I will stay over an extra night. My surgeon does all his surgeries in the afternoon so we all stay at least one night over in the hospital so the recovery gets a good start. So after my 2 nights or more, I'll be home and check back in to see home you're doing. You're going to do great... It's behind you now and you'll feel better each day. Congratulations on starting your new exciting life! *Maria*
