Thanks for the input eveyone. I have decided to take a week vacation after surgery. Now all I need to figure out is what do I tell my clients. I am a hairdresser and my clients seem to want to know everything I do. I was thinking just tell them I need time off for myself. I don't like to lie but I don't know if I should tell that I am having lapband surgery. I am afraid I will get negative remarks if my friends and clients find out about the surgery. What do I do?

Hi Faithmd, I have not met Dr Wagner yet. My meet and greet appt is Sept 27, 07. I understand that most hospitals are wait wait wait. I had all 3 of my children at Hurley so I have faith in the hospital. What can you tell me about the liquid diet that we have to follow before surgery? How was your experience with the surgery? How long did you stay after surgery. Sorry to ask so many questions but I am nervous about the surgery. Keep in touch. Marcy

Hey everyone I am so excited I finally got my surgery date. Oct 8 07 is the day. I am so nervous and excited. I found myself wondering if I am making the right decision to go with lapband. I guess in some ways I am afraid of getting thin and having all of my fat friends hate me. But I know I will be in better health to lose the weight. I need all of your support. Gibson, do you have a surgery date? I am still waiting and have been since oct 06. My insurance is hard to get lapband surgery approved. Speaking of Kings daughter Hospital, I was there 3 weeks ago to visit my aunt. Again I tell you not to worry as this hospital is the greatest. I come to Ashland to visit my family occasionally. Kings daughter hospital in ashland ky is the greatest. They have been a part of my family history. I myself was born at kings daughter. All of the staff at the hospital are wonderful. You shouldn't have anything to worry about? Marcy

hi everyone sorry it has been so long since i have been on this site but i am getting disgusted. I have been waiting since oct 06 to be approved by my insurance to have lapband surgery. How longs does it take. I would love to hear from some of you. marcy:confused:

sherilynn, refuse to listen to those who are trying to talk you out of the band. I have not been banded yet and I have friends saying no don't do it. I figure these are my friends who themselves need to lose weight and I think a little jeoulousy my be present. I will hold on to my new banded friends I have found on this site. I want to have a thinner future for myself so I will not back out. My health is at stake. Keep your chin up. Marcy:straight

I am not a beer drinker but I have always loved diet pop. I gave up my carbonated pop over a month ago as the doctor said no carbonated beverages. Anyone out there with a diet pop habit?:straight

Waiting for surgery date to be banded. Just had my mental health exam and passed! I am 51 yrs old married with 3 young adult children in college and I have support from all of my family. I am not sure about some of my friends and coworkers but I am ready to deal with that. I appreciate support from all of you, my new found friends!

Douglas hope your doctor appointment went well. You will be ok. I know what you mean about talking about weight. I hate to admit how much I weigh. I don't discuss it with anyone other than my dr. I am scared also but excited to be heading for new weight loss success. I don't have a surgery date yet! Hope I get one soon. Marcy
