  1. This is so weird! Usually I'm eating around 800-900 calories a day. Yesterday I got into the 1000-1100 range and the scale has moved DOWN!!! I'm guessing I'm not getting enough calories in.
  2. It's definitely all part of the process. It will be over soon, so keep your head up. Just think that in time you'll be losing weight and on your way to being healthy.
  3. Thank you everyone!! You're all so so helpful. Much appreciated. I'm gonna promise myself to stay off the scale for awhile. I am getting 64oz+ of water in a day. Hopefully this is just a plateau, and a short one at that! I'll keep on trucking. Thank you guys again.
  4. Got it! So should I start cutting down to 4-5oz on my own and see what happens? I was told by a few that my calorie count was too low so I'm all confused!!

    4th of July Challenge!

Down a pound this week. Just started whole foods Monday and wasn't getting enough calories in, so I stalled for a few days.
  6. Mr doctor said a few people have been successful without needing a fill. I've lost about 30lbs so far at a month out and I have no fill. I do feel some restriction and maybe that's just from the band. I'm unsure but I'm not complaining. Also, if you aren't losing weight and you're on whole foods, up your calories. I was at about 600-700 calories a day and I've bumped it up to 800-900 and the scale is moving once again.
  7. B: 1 egg w/ 2 bacon slices L: 1 cup lettuce w/ 4oz chicken, hemp seed, and sprinkle of parm. cheese D: taco salad w/ turkey meat Too bad I've gained weight since eating normal foods again!

    4th of July Challenge!

Down 7lbs again this week. Was only 1lb away from my goal, so I bumped it up from 15lbs to 20lbs.

    Gall Stones

Hope things go well! My doctor has me on gallstone medication for 6 months to prevent them. He said losing weight/gaining weight suddenly can cause them.
  10. I hope so too. But even with no fills, eating 3/4 a cup really fills me up! My surgeon said if I keep losing like I am, I won't need a fill. I go to see him June 21. I should (WILL!) be in onederland by then.
  11. I was banded May 10. I've lost almost 30lbs so far and I'm estatic!! No fill. Just pure willpower and eating 3/4 cup of food. But after eating 3/4, I do feel satisfied. I've been doing well. I start whole foods on Monday.
  12. 1. Is there pain after the surgery? And if so, what kind? How long did it last? Yes there is some pain, but it's not nearly as bad as you'd think. The doctor gives you pain meds to take home and they really help. After about day 3 I felt a lot better. 2. How long do you have to stay in the hospital after surgery? I had to stay a few hours. Some people opt to stay overnight but..no thanks. I preferred to be home. 3. Is there a specific diet before/after surgery? Yes, but this varies. Many times you have to do a 1-2 week long liquid diet to help shrink the liver. I lost a lot of weigh during this time. It's hard but you get used to it. 4. Do I have to slim down to a certain weight before I can get it? I don't think so but you'll want to check with a surgeon. I know mine wouldnt operate on a patient over a certain weight because it's an added risk. 5. I know you eat less, a lot less, do you eat more smaller meals or just 3 really small meals? I eat 3 small, healthy, high Protein meals a day. 6. If really small meals, is there enough food for your body to like have energy? Yes. That is never anything to worry about. 7. Should I worry about complications with my weight? I don't think so. 8. How many people die of complications every year? And how many people get the surgery every year? There have been a few deaths. I know of 3. Two were from complete negligence of the patient. 9. What kinda of diet are you on currently? None. I eat small healthy meals. Some people do opt to do low cal/low carb diets though. 10. I cannot stick to diets, will I be told to TRY dieting before the surgery? You'll probably have to do a pre-op diet. The word cannot really needs to be out of your personal diet for this surgery to work for you. 11. What happens on the day of the surgery? You go in, have surgery, and get to go home. You're hooked up to an IV, you meet your surgeon, sign a few forms, meet your anesthesialogist and you're off to the surgery room. 12. Side effects? None. 13. Problems you had? None at all. 14. Did you ever consider not getting it because of the extra skin? Yes, of course. But I realize that plastic surgery is always an option, and I'd really have extra skin over rolls of fat everywhere. Plus, the younger you are, the higher possibility that your skin will shrink back somewhat. 15. How steady of a weight loss can one expect? It varies from person to person. I've been told 1-2 pounds a week. I'm a little shy of being a month out and I've been losing 7lbs a week. But I'm sure this will slow down greatly. 16. Did family members actions change after you got the surgery? Not much. My mom is eating a lot less and a lot healthier. She has even lost too but she is not obese by any means. 17. Your worries before you had the surgery? What about after? I was worried it would not work. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to do it. However, it's obvious that I can and anyone can. You just have to be willing to change how and sometimes what you eat. It's a new lfiestyle, but it's a healthy one that I'm learning to truly enjoy.
  13. Congrats!! I'm so close too, and only a month out  Dreading the day the weight-loss slows, but I'm ready for it.
  14. Congrats!! No fill for me until June 21, but I may not need it. We will see!

    what to do about carbs

I try to stay under 50 a day, but it's different for each person. Low carb diets are like 20-30 carbs a day.

    Do you journal?

I do it online at myfitnesspal.com just to help make sure I'm getting all my protein in. My dr/nutritionist want me to journal what I eat when I get to normal foods (5 days woo) just to make sure I'm eating good stuff. I doubt it will be a life-long thing though.
  18. A day, but it really depends on your insurance type.
  19. Your doctor will probably have you do a pre-op liquid diet to shrink your liver. It's probably best to talk with him/her if you're worried. But yes, surgeries have been cancelled due to an oversized liver.
  20. It may fade, but it won't go away completely. It depends on your genes, weight, skin-type, etc. There are creams and lotions that may help, but nothing is 100% proven.
  21. I believe the person above me meant Kelo-cote. That's what I'm using. I think it's too early to tell results, but I've heard it's a great product. A little expensive, but worth it.
