weight loss vs inches lost
reverie replied to missgypsy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wished I'd measured myself! I should start as I'm already down a pants size. -
Congrats on your loss! I lost a lot the first few weeks.

Psych evaluation - details?
reverie replied to ardelia's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The psych exams are nothing..I was worried too but mine was pretty easy. I didn't like the guy but he was like grilling me with questions. Just pretty basic things. -
Can 15 or 17 year olds have lapband surgery?
reverie replied to pattygreen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I believe the minimum age is 18, but I'm not sure. However, some surgeons will operate on 17 year olds. Fifteen may be a little too young. Maybe you can encourage them to do the Lapband diet and see how it works? -
Protein??How to get your protein in the first two weeks of post op?
reverie replied to jennykay's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Protein shakes definitely, but don't push yourself. Your body has enough protein to last you awhile. Try to get as much as you can but it does get a lot easier once you get to eat mushies/normal food. -
It's definitely very important to drink it! Don't force yourself if you truly feel full, but drink as much as you can. They say the most popular complication with the surgery is dehydration. Good luck!

What Happens When You Reach Your Goal
reverie replied to Barbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You work on maintaining. Once you get to your goal you just can't stop. It's important to continue to eat right, exercise, etc. -
NERVES!!! 2 more days....
reverie replied to mimirae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats and you will do just fine. Being nervous is very calm. Just remember in the end you'll be on your way to a healthier life. -
Scared of my surgery
reverie replied to CurvasPeligrosas's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is plenty normal. I felt it too and I let it get to me. I cried a few times before surgery, but in the end I knew it was the best way to go. You may be healthy now, but let's face it, being obese has proven to shorten life and cause a variety of health issues. I'd rather risk a pretty safe surgery then to continue to be overweight. It's very, very very very uncommon to die from this surgery. Keep your head up and think positive. When your surgery day comes, you will be fine, and surgery will go smoothly. Thinking the negative will only make things worse. -
Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?

Guys, use this link: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...thkey=CIbr1NIE# -
I've heard grated cauliflower is a good substitute for rice. For pasta I've been using spaghetti squash. Delicious!

I am so frustrated!
reverie replied to momof4busyboys's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Give your body time to heal! You just had surgery. You may be holding onto some water weight. You definitely aren't gaining, so take that into account. Let your body heal and the weight will come off. This happened to me as well. First week I didn't lose much, then the second week I was losing 7lbs a week. The liquid diet is HARD, but stick with it. It's all worth it in the end. -
The band really won't change how much weight you lose. One is newer than the other, but your surgeon probably choose the one that he saw to be the most fitting for you. I wouldn't be upset as he/she is the expert.

Anyone interested in a Christmas challenge?
reverie replied to lauragshsu's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'd love to! -
Nope, no fill! Doctor said I don't need one as I'm not hungry at all. I've incorporated a little bit more exercise into things and the scale is moving down again. Though I'll get a fill if I hit a plateau again.
-
Hunger is normal and you have no reason at all to feel guilty. Just make sure you are picking the right food choices and not relying on sliders/sugar to make the hunger go away.

A thread for those quickly approaching onederland
reverie replied to LapNYC's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm hovering between 208-209lbs. I've been exercising like a crazy woman and the scale is going down again. I was stuck at 211-213lbs for a little bit. -
Getting under 200 lbs
reverie replied to TN_girl21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll get there! I've got 8-9lbs to go and I can't wait to see 199lbs. Make sure you are exercising and getting your water in and you will see the 2 go away soon! -
My doctor said no driving if I'm still on the pain meds. If it's not that far away you will probably be okay, but maybe ask your surgeon?

Buddy wanted, any May 2010 Banders?
reverie replied to Sibom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Get back on the scale! It doesn't help to avoid things. Maybe you didn't gain as much as you think. If you did gain, start back at square one. I was banded May 10 and I've lost almost 37lbs. I'm not hungry between meals so no fill, but my weight has been going up and down recently. Guess I'm hitting that plateau. -
Worried - losing weight too fast? + Q. about allowed food.
reverie replied to Eternalx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your loss! That's awesome. People lose at different rates, so I wouldn't be too worried. On the mushy stage mashed potatoes are allowed. If the pumpkin can be stringy, i'd be very careful. Maybe run it through the food processor if you have one. -
Day 5 post op and a few problems
reverie replied to koreabandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm assuming you're on the post-op liquid diet, if so, remember what you eat generally comes out the same way. Liquids in, liquids out. Mine did get better after a few days so hopefully yours will as well. Also, what did you drink? I was told nothing but water and dilated juice post-op for a few weeks, but I mostly stuck to water with a half of packet of Crystal Light. -
So I'll be banded 5 weeks next Monday, and I've been at a stand-still since the day I've started whole foods. I haven't lost a thing, but of course the scale is up some days and down the next, but never below 209.2lbs. I eat my 3 meals a day, no Snacks, simply because I am not hungry between meals. Breakfast is usually an egg with 2 pieces of bacon, lunch is usually a salad w/ chicken, and dinner is something usually 4oz. meat with 1/4-1/2 cup of food. I get around 800-1000 calories a day and I've been staying under 30 carbs, hoping that it'd help me lose weight but obviously it isn't. My Protein levels are in the 80s+ each day. Does anyone have any idea why I'm not losing? I talked to my nut. and she said everything looked fine, but I'm suspecting I am not getting enough calories. I have been walking about 2 miles a day and last night I even ran because I'm so frustrated. I have my next appt. with my doctor on Monday to see if I need a fill, but I'm sure I don't as I am not grazing and I'm not hungry between meals. Any ideas at all? Do I need to just wait it out some?
