    Caloric Intake???

I started with 650-700 but I've bumped them up to 1,000. More exercise calls for more calories, or else you will plateau. But, everyone's caloric needs differ insanely, so I'd say test the waters and find what's best for you. Add 100-200 calories and see what that does.
  3. A cup of food each meal with 2 snacks to keep my calories up. Morning snack: Protein bar or 1/2-3/4 cup fruit Breakfast: Egg beaters w/ turkey sausage Lunch: 4oz dense protein + 1/2 cup veggies Snack: Fruit again or veggies Dinner: Salad, usually 4oz chicken to go with it.

    My First Plateau

How many calories are you eating a day (rough estimate?) and how much protein are you getting? If you're burning that many calories in a workout, I'm going to assume you need to eat more.
  5. While muscle does weigh more than fat, there is no way that she is gaining so much muscle that it is making the scale go up. She's losing fat at the same time and she's definitely burning more fat than she is building muscle.
  6. Congrats! Great accomplishment. You're doing awesome.
  7. Though protein shakes are good, they really aren't enough to hold you over if 1. you're only eating twice a day 2. you're drinking it after you exercise. You need a denser protein to keep you fuller, especially after you do cardio. I'd also try to add in another meal or at least a small snack. My dr stresses eating 3 times a day. I actually eat 5 times a day now with the exercise I'm doing. When I started doing p90 I stalled because I wasn't eating enough. I stalled last week, probably because I'm not eating enough, so my advice, eat more, more often. Snacking is NOT a bad thing if you're doing it to fuel yourself and if it's healthy. If you're doing high intensity cardio without much stopping I'd say eat more. Keep an eye on your calorie levels as well as your protein levels.

    one month post op.....

I'm not sure about popcorn but for pizza I made my own using the Pepperidge Farm Deli slice bread (thin, about the size of a CD, 50 calories for a slice) and put pizza sauce and low fat cheese on it with a sprinkle of italian seasoning. I know some places also sell low calorie/carb pizza crusts. It definitely doesn't taste same as the kind you get from Pizza Hut or something, but it's doable and it definitely hit the spot when I was craving pizza.

Going through the process as a teen

I was banded at 19. It's a pretty simple process. Since you know what your insurance requires, you then want to pick a surgeon and go from there. You will probably have to meet with a dietician/psychologist before you can get banded. Make sure your insurance doesn't require you to be on a supervised diet. Shoot me a message with your email; I'd love to talk.

    Hello Surgery set for 9-27-10

Congrats on deciding to be banded! The 27th will be here before you know it.
  11. You will be fine I think. You went on vacation and you probably weren't able to exercise as much or eat as healthy. Some might be water weight if you ate a lot of sodium. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you need to lose a certain amount of weight.
  12. You probably need a small unfill. I'd go back to your surgeon to have a tiny unfill; it doesn't have to be anything massive.
  13. Definitely water weight. Give it time, it will come off. You just had a very drastic surgery and your body needs to heal. Stay off the scale and just remember your end goal. Allow your body to adjust to your band before you worry about losing. You will be dropping lbs soon, just wait.
  14. Water or Crystal Light. No juice, soda, etc.

    Bsv!!!!!!

Congrats! Amazing that you've been able to stay off the scale; I've gotta be on it once a week.

    Inches V.S. Pounds

Definitely common and it may be something you want to get used to. Many times when you hit a plateau you'll lose inches and not weight. Be sure to take your measurements and even some pictures and compare when the scale is being a bit stubborn. It helps to keep you motivated. Sadly I'm on the other side of this. Scale is moving yet I can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that I'm much smaller.

Dad: African-American/Cherokee Indian Mom: German and some other stuff; I call her a white mutt. Me: "Bi-racial" though I've been thought to be anything from Hawaiian to Mexican. Odd.

    Halloween Challenge

In for 20; that will put me in the 150s range, though I will be on vacation in Vegas for 5 days, should be interesting!
  20. I haven't had a fill yet and I've lost almost 70lbs in about 4 months; not at my goal but I'm expecting to get there without a fill. I somehow have perfect restriction from surgery and I've been losing a steady 2-3lbs a week. The second check-up I had with my surgeon he said that I didn't need a fill and that I was doing better than a gastric bypass patient. Pretty exciting!
  21. Woo hoo!!! Congrats! Such an awesome victory. I have 30lbs+ until I see that number but I cannot wait!

You'll be fine; best of luck!
  24. You look great!! You have a lot of reasons to be giddy; look how far you've come. You can definitely tell that you've dropped weight. Pictures are always a great way to really see the improvement that you've made. Congrats and keep on pushing!

    Need Advice

You may need an unfill, but a combination of getting unfilled and vomitting may have really irritated your stomach. Stick to liquids for a few days and see if things calm down. If they don't of course call your surgeon.
