lose skin after weight loss?
reverie replied to ShrnkN2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, you'll have it, or at least some. Working out and weightlifting has helped me a bunch though I am saved up for a TT. -
I LOVE salads! I try to eat at least once a day. I eat them with 4 oz chicken, some carrots, bacon bits, flax seed etc. So good. I usually save them for dinner after I work out when I want something light but Protein packed.

Good luck to both of you! You're probably both recovering by now. Best of luck. -
I Don't Feel Much Different at all......
reverie replied to Renee1003's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly it all comes down to willpower. While I doubt you did any permanent damage, you've probably slowed down the healing process. If you're hungry, are you sure it's real hunger? Is your stomach growling? If so, eat something; that's normal hungry. Eat something within your post-op rules. Focus on getting Protein in. On mushies I was eating a lot of Beans, cottage cheese, etc. Try to find foods that at least hold you over for a bit. Also focus on your Water. I was surprised at how well water can fill me up for a bit. Good luck! -
The band won't work unless you work it; simple. You're the operator here, not the other way around. How many fills have you had? How much is in your band? It is rare that you feel restriction after one fill, so you may need another, if not a few more to feel proper restriction. Until then it's up to you to eat right, exercise, and do what you need to get the scale moving. Sure you can eat all you want and whatever you want, but should you? No. The purpose of the band is to help control your portions, at proper restriction, but at the same time the band counts on you to eat properly. Focus on drinking your Water and your Protein intake.

3rd Fill and Feel Like I did Before being Banded!!
reverie replied to FryeMama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Leak maybe? Weightloss can too cause your band to loosen unexpectedly. I'd talk to your surgeon. -
I'd say you're too tight though the spices in the soup may have done it as well. I'd call your doctor and ask for suggestions. Maybe try taking some OTC medicine for acid reflux to see if it helps diminish it for now at least? Good luck!

One week banded but have only lost 2 lbs
reverie replied to RobinLB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 6 weeks are NOT about weightloss. You need to put the scale away and focus on healing. You just underwent pretty invasive surgery 7 days ago. Your body needs at the least, a month to heal. Don't let yourself get down. Focus on feeling better, walking, getting in your Protein and your Water. Weightloss right now isn't the main goal. You're not going to lose much when your body is trying to heal. Give it time. Put the scale away. Focus on resting and healing. The weight will come off in time. Don't let yourself get down. Self-defeatist attitudes lead to just that: defeat. -
Get rid of all the sweets in your house. If they aren't readily available, you can't have them, right? Also, let yourself indulge. Have a sweet snack once or twice a week but limit it to that. Weightloss doesn't mean not eating the foods you enjoy. I have Reese's on occasion. Why? Because I like them. I know one isn't going to stall me. Allow yourself to enjoy something sweet every now and then; maybe it'll help your cravings.

HAIR IS SHEDDING, need protein suggestions ASAP
reverie replied to krasc001's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry to tell you but usually once your hair is falling out, it'll continue to do so. You won't go bald but surgery, anesthesia, and weight-loss all interrupt the hair cycle. I have pretty thick hair and a lot of it fell out. It started about 3 months in and stopped about a month or so back. You can take Biotin and use strengthening/Biotin shampoos though they are usually not a huge help. Once your hair is falling out it's usually also in the process of growing back. I was/am currently getting 120g+ of Protein a day; it didn't keep my hair from falling out. -

Happy Valentine's Day

I treated myself to a few M&Ms last night. Though I treat myself to a piece of chocolate once in awhile. Never hurts. -

Good luck! Wishes for a smooth surgery and a quick recovery. -
Try to stick to your diet; we all have to follow it for a reason. Even though you're chewing your food to a "mushy" texture, the fact is that your stomach still has to work harder to digest and process the food you're eating. The whole point of the post-op diet is to gradually introduce real food back into your diet so that your stomach has the proper time to heal. Go back to your post-op rules. Though you're not gaining, you're also not giving your stomach a chance to heal from pretty invasive surgery. Also, post-op is really the best time to start building up your willpower. If you can't stick to your post-op diet, how're you going to stick to eating the right foods later on in time? Just my 2 cents. Best of luck!

Congrats! Here's hoping for a May surgery date.

Your recommendations for best mushies
reverie replied to Appmax54321's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Refried beans (any type of mashed beans), cottage cheese, ricotta cheese baked with spaghetti sauce and mozzarella, applesauce, tuna, hummus, etc. -
almost passed out and got sick
reverie replied to TylerAshton567's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't put anything on it. Just keep the incision clean. -
Doubt your pouch is stretched though try to stick to your post-op diet.

To Fill or Not To Fill... That is MY question!
reverie replied to CountryGirlNY's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you're suffering from acid reflux I definitely think the no fill option is ideal, though you need to figure out why you're having reflux. Is your band too tight? I say start yourself over again. Go back to your post-op diet. Follow it to a T to jump start the scale. You know what you're doing wrong, so fix it. Start tracking what you eat. Google/YouTube some workout videos you can do inside that way weather isn't an excuse. -
Looking for Whey Protein Mix recommendations....
reverie replied to JerseyMom29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Muscle Milk Light. I try to stray away from powders as I really hated them pre-op, and I hate them now. I also drink Labrada RTD. -
The average loss with the band is 1-2lbs a week. I've lost anywhere from 0-6lbs. Nowadays it's about 1.5lbs a week. I was losing 3lbs but since I only have 16 left to go I'm sure it'll continue to slow.

First day post-op any hints?
reverie replied to JerseyMom29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recommend using your pain meds. I was on mine for 2-3 days and then just sort of dealt with the left over pain. Walk as much as you can. Try using Gas-X strips for the gas problem. Sip water when you can but don't push yourself. Most importantly, REST!! -
Nope. I was the opposite. Mine was MIA and is now regular (and light, love it!!!). I do believe weightloss can lead to all sorts of bodily changes. Maybe keep note of it but it's definitely common.
