    GETTING DISCOURAGED

Remember that you'll see a lot more posts complaining of problems with the band than you will successes with it. This is a support forum so you will find more people with problems seeking answers. As for slippage/rebanding, if you treat your band well, you're usually fine, especially if you work with a well qualified surgeon. Follow the rules, don't keep your band too tight, and you'll be fine. As for the pre-op; good luck and congrats thus far. It IS hard but you can do it! Eye on the prize.

Awesome! I love running now that the weather has broke; no long distances though. Maybe one day!

    What is your goal weight?

    120lbs. Sigh.
  4. Welcome! Post-op gets easier and before you know it it's over and done with.

    Slippage

Keep in mind that a slip usually takes a lengthy time period of vomitting, over-tightness, PBs, etc. I wouldn't worry so much. Do you worry each time you go drive somewhere that the car you paid for will get in an accident? Just do your best, follow the rules and you'll be fine!
  6. Congrats! My goal weight seems so far away as the scale just refuses to budge Congrats on meeting your goal; amazing accomplishment.

    How many carbs?

Thanks Elle! I'm almost there I can taste it..sorta LOL. I bumped up everything, including my carbs, because of exercise. I workout for almost 2 hours each day, and at 30g carbs I was burning out about halfway through my workout. It just wasn't a good feeling and upping my carbs has helped tremendously! More energy and no more tired feeling. Per your carb count, make sure you are subtracting the Fiber you eat each day from the overall total. That will give you your net carbs. As for high calorie/low carb foods, nuts (almonds) and Beans are your best bet. A serving of almonds has 120-170 calories and 3-4g carbs along with healthy fats. If you ever need help with your food let me know; I'd love to help.
  8. Are you exercising? The band will help but won't do it all for you. As for the calories, carbs, and Protein count, it varies per person, depending on your weight, height, and activity level. But generally speaking: Protein: .8g-1g per lean body weight Fats: .35g-1g per lean body weight Carbs: Varies; the heavier/less active you are the less you need. I started off eating 800 calories and below 40 carbs, nowadays I'm eating 1500 calories and 90+ carbs so it really all depends. But for you I'd up the calories, lower the carbs, and incorporate some sort of exercise.

    Protein and shedding

Why not drink another type of Protein? Isopure makes fruit flavored protein shakes. There are plenty others out there as well. RTDs are a lot easier to drink, I've found, but I've recently been using strawberry Protein powder with some mixed berries; delicious. As for the hair shedding, it may get worse and it's good that you're upping your protein, but that won't stop you from losing hair. Sadly once you're losing it the damage is done, but it's all part of the cycle, and it will grow back; you won't go bald I had pretty thick hair that thinned out crazily, it is growing back now but the hair loss lasted for a good 3-4 months I believe. The good thing is that even though you're losing hair, per the cycle, you're already growing new hair

    Vitamin Help!!

Centrum makes chewables. They sell them at Walmart, Target, etc.
  11. Do some research on band-over-bypass (BoB), though really sit back and consider *why* you've regained. Another WLS won't work if you aren't committed to the lifestyle change. Good luck!

    Newly Banded!

Congrats on being banded! Glad to hear you're adjusting well. My journey has been relatively easy; no complications and no fills; down 112lbs. There's a lot of info on these boards so look around!!
  14. Thanks!! I'm hoping to lose these last 12lbs before I hit my 1-year anniversary. Fingers crossed! I used http://www.tickerfactory.com/ezticker/ticker_designer.php then posted it in my signature. It has been easier than I thought though now that it's slowed down I am a bit frustrating but I am not complaining. I'm wearing size 4s from size 20s! Feel free to message me if you have any questions/wanna chat.

    Trying to be patient

Thanks!! I couldn't be happier with my progress. As for the Protein I like Muscle Milk and Labrada pre-made. I like the others in powder form as I can use them in all sorts of things. I put the Lean Dessert powder (Cinnamon roll) in pumpkin with cottage cheese. Xtreme Formulations makes a lemon creme pie powder and I mix it with greek yogurt, cool whip, and Cinnamon crunch Cereal (yes, you read that right ) You don't always have to drink shakes! I've even put Protein Powder and made pancakes with it. Creativity works wonders. Hope that helps!

What made you and your band successful

Like the poster above my band has helped keep me full; the rest was all me. I eat right, I track my calories, and I've taken the time to break down my true caloric needs, not some number I read or one a nutritionist has thrown out. I've taken a lot of time to read and learn about food, learning that it's okay to indulge, and learning that no food is off limits if it fits inside of your calorie range I also exercise like a mad person; 1.5 hours a day. I've learned the exercise is a must do, no matter how bad you feel, or how busy you are, you just have to do it. I've also learned just how much weightlifting helps! I've toned amazingly but I'm still looking to have PS.
