3 Weeks Post OP and STARVING
reverie replied to Onederland2come's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Eat more protein. Drink more water. -
I did early on, now I just eat it. Lol.
-
I eat 6 times a day. The amount of meals you eat really plays little to no role in weightloss. I say eat when you're hungry, more so eat before you get hungry, this way you aren't scarfing down your food. I eat every 2-3 hours and plan to eat 6 times a day. Only day I don't is on Saturdays and Sundays when I usually only eat 4-5 times a day. I say do what's best for you. Meal timing/amount is truly irrelevant.

Low Carb, High Protein Diet
reverie replied to kdyke111909's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did high protein/low carbs for the first 6-7 months of my journey. It worked flawlessly, as that's when I lost most of my weight. I focused on at least 4oz Protein each meal and did no lower than 90g a day. My carbs were 50g and below I believe. I don't stick to it anymore simply because I see no reason to. I count my calories, nothing else, though I do make sure my protein is always high (120g+) and I still focus on my carbs sometimes, usually staying under 120g a day. -
Lose Faster by Drinking Water?
reverie replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drinking Water =/= weightloss. If anything it helps keep you hydrated, which decreases the amount of water weight you'll hold but for true weightloss? 0, in my books. But do focus on getting your water! I do a gallon+ a day. -
Does this Sound Right?
reverie replied to mattie7632's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i eat a cup of food, sometimes a bit more in a sitting and I'm full for a good 3-4 hours, if not longer, but I prefer to eat every 3-4 hours before I start to get overly hungry, because then I ravage my food like a starving dog. Learned my lesson from that yesterday LOL! Also, hope you enjoyed your chicken strips and fries. There's nothing wrong with them All foods are healthy in my book. Fit them within your caloric needs and enjoy. Your body doesn't know a calorie from an apple opposed to a calorie from a french fry. -
Netrition is better; quicker/faster/less expensive shipping.

I can eat anything and everything, which I LOVE! Couldn't imagine not being able to eat something because I want/need to lose weight. It's all about moderation not completely ridding of any type of food. I will say that I have gotten stuck and PB'd, but it's usually due to me eating too fast/not chewing/using the fork as a spoon (oops!)

Everyday; 3 weight lifting days, 3 cardio days, Sunday = light day; ie. walking/stretching.

Got appppproved and date SO EXCITED!
reverie replied to babypittgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your date! My pre-op diet was for 2 weeks; I think. It's been forever it seems! If you're interested you may want to just call his office and ask. Usually a week to two weeks is the average length. My advice: relax! Don't suffer from "last meal syndrome." The band is not supposed to keep you from eating the food you like/enjoy; Just keep that in mind. Otherwise buy some Gas-X strips for post surgery. Maybe put together a little shopping list of foods you'll want to have post-op (Soups, broths, Jello, yogurt, SF popsicles, etc) Good luck! -
Give it a few weeks; it'll all settle down once you really begin to heal.

Gall Stones After LapBand?
reverie replied to sisterwood's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine did it but I wasn't put on Actigal; I think mine was called Ursodiol; I had nothing wrong with my gallbladder pre-op but when you lose a lot of weight quickly, gallstones are very common and often times people have to go in for a second surgery to have their gallbladders removed. Not all doctors do it but I am glad mine does! I've seen a lot of WLS patients need to have their gallbladders taken out due to rapid weightloss. I was only on Ursodiol for about 3 months; It gave me an allergic reaction later on down the road and my doctor said to not take it anymore; I was past the "danger-window" of contracting gallstones either way. So, be happy you're on something One less thing to worry about. -
Go for it. Been working mine out since 3 months or so post-op. You may get some tenderness around the port for a little while but it goes away.

Seems like yesterday's thread was pretty popular. I actually got a few new product names out of it! (high-protein pretzels ) So, what are you eating today? Snack: Cottage cheese + pumpkin Breakfast: eggs, turkey bacon, oatmeal with PB Snack: Cinnamon roll "protein pudding" with cinnamon toast crunch Lunch: Spaghetti squash w/ turkey meat and low-carb sauce Snack: Protein bread + dark choco PB Dinner: chicken breast, mixed veggies, broccoli, rice, and hoisin sauce.
-
Congrats! My original goal was 120lbs; it's now 125lbs simply because I'm already in size 2s and I'm not sure 120lbs is healthy for me, but time will tell.
-
I like these threads, and usually they are helpful for new meal ideas. What are you enjoying today? Snack: Cantaloupe Breakfast: eggs, turkey bacon, 1/4 cup steel cut oats with cinnamon raisin Peanut Butter Snack: Protein "ice cream" with mini oreos Lunch: salad with chicken, broccoli, cheese, and ranch dressing Snack: Protein Bar Dinner: Tilapia, brown rice, mixed veggies, and LC hoisin sauce.

Very normal; I've never had a fill and it happens to me! Try drinking hot tea or coffee to loosen it up; works like a charm.

Crystal Light??
reverie replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, red wine, and anything else with a color in it are bad too? LOL! Crazy. Maybe you don't do well with artificial sweeteners. Per the original post, I drink it everyday, as do millions of people. Drink up and stop being so paranoid -
Crystal Light??
reverie replied to Hopes of a Dream!'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nothing wrong with it. If you're too worried about it try using True Lemon, or lemon + Water + stevia. Or just drink your water plain. You can try SF Torani/Da Vinci syrups as well. I sometimes use Powerade Zero; half water half Powerade. -
Tape Measure Moving but Scale Is not
reverie replied to agdunkle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly what becky said. Your body is recomping itself which is a good thing. Inches lost is MUCH better than a loss on the scale as a loss on the scale can indicate Water loss, fat loss, and/or muscle loss. Inches lost represents nothing other than fat loss -- the main goal of weight loss. Congrats and realize it's a good thing.
