    Eating without drinking

Don't pour yourself anything to drink when you eat. No cup, you can't drink. Pretty easy!

    Hair loss

This. Hair loss is common with WLS. You just have to ride it out. Avoid ponytails and irons, straighteners, etc. It'll stop in time
  3. A calorie is a calorie..is a calorie Your body doesn't know a calorie from an apple any different from a calorie from pizza. If it fits within your daily caloric needs, there is nothing wrong with pizza. Don't be so foolish. The only thing important at the end of the day is a caloric deficit and ensuring your dietary fat/carbs/protein needs are met along with exercise.
  4. No. You do get some restriction from the band; I have no fill and I have plenty; things get suck, I PB, etc.
  5. Gas-X strips, Jello, broth, soups, ricotta cheese, cottage cheese...anything that's on your post-op diet. A heating pad for the gas pain.

    Struggling Big Time

Plan and portion out your meals ahead of time. That way when your food is gone, it's gone. My eyes are still and will always remain bigger than my stomach, therefore I choose to portion out everything I eat before hand. Works wonders.
  8. Bread/pizza/anything else is only "out" or "tough" depending on your restriction level. I eat bread just fine, but I have no fill so my restriction level is pretty loose. If you don't keep a super tight band, bread, pizza, and anything else are fine. Just be sure to chew. Toasting the bread works best, IMO. If a tight band is ideal for you, look into buying thin sliced bread or wraps and make your own "pizza." Flat out and low-carb tortillas work great.

Join the club!!! I splurged big time Head is back in the game today though. Felt good to just eat I must admit, haha.
  11. Mm dinner was great!! Had a little bit of everything :) Can't wait to get back on track this week.

  12. Happy Easter everyone! Up .8, was a little lax this week, trying to remind myself that it's not a temporary gain. Plan to ENJOY today..maybe.

  14. 6 weeks post-op for me. Was only allowed to walk up until then.
  15. I've never had a slip but the common symptoms are a sudden loss of restriction or sometimes too tight of restriction that doesnt allow you to keep anything down, including water/liquids. Slips usually occur in those who keep their bands too tight and are constantly vomiting and PBing.
  16. You'll be fine. The band isn't that delicate
  17. Not sure, from what I've read a lot of those fitted with the 4cc band haven't been able to find the right restriction, erosion, slips, etc.

    Hello, My Name Is Rosemarie

Welcome! Congrats on deciding to get banded Definitely look around the forums, there is a lot of good information here.
  19. Have a fill under floroscopy then; you'll know for sure if you have a leak or not. And no it hasn't happened to me, I've never had a fill, and my insurance paid for my surgery, but from reading forums, it seems those who self-pay have to self-pay for any follow-up surgeries; who else is going to pay for it? Maybe you could contact Allergen and explain the situation and see what they say, otherwise I'm sure it has to come from your pocket sadly.
  20. Because he's probably misinformed, like most doctors nowadays. A lot of people like to think that carbs are what make us fat, when in the end what makes people fat is taking in an excessive amount of calories and not exercising. Eating over your maintenance calorie limit + no exercise = fat gain, not carbs. Unless you have a tight band that can't tolerate rice or pasta, there is truly no need to not eat carbs, unless you are insulin resistant. If you aren't..eat them in moderation.
  21. Who says the band is leaking? Maybe 4ccs just isn't enough for you yet. Rarely is all the fill pulled out because, from what I've read not personal experience, some of the fill does stay within the tubing. Also it can take a week to two weeks for a fill to kick in, so I agree a fill 2 weeks after another fill is a bit much. If it is leaking, I'm pretty sure you have to pay for the surgery. Maybe have your doctor fill you under fluroscopy to see, or find a new office.

    Protein Shakes

Muscle Milk, Isopure, and Labrada are all good. Buy the pre-mixed ones, much better tasting IMO. I was cleared to exercise 6 weeks after surgery.

    ALLI tablets

No, no point. Why would you resort to fat loss pills when you just underwent WLS? The whole purpose here is to learn how to eat and how to life a lifestyle that allows you to maintain a healthy weight. No fat blocker is going to teach you that. WLS isn't about fast weight loss and if Alli works, why did you even get banded to begin with?

Protein - how much is enough?

It's not necessarily the "ideal" weight. You should be going by your lean body mass, from what I've read/learned. I do find that protein tends to keep cravings at bay. I'm getting upwards of 160g of protein in a day and it's been working miracles.
  25. It's an older version band that is no longer used for various reasons.
