  1. I'm not a smoker but my addiction to cokes is tough to break! I love to drink sodas. And eat. I have really begun to think that I am so scared of not being able to eat anything I want. I am on day nine of 19 days of pre-op starvation. My surgery date is 04-01. Being a 12 pack a day soda drinker is hard to break. Yes, I know it is better for me but I sure do miss my ol' buddy diet coke.

    Coffee?

I use coffee sometimes to make the protein shake with lots of ice. Kinda like an iced coffee. I put some splenda in it and it is almost enjoyable. (Still don't like the protein shake drink.)

    Free Lap band finalist

You got my vote! God Bless you and I hope that you will be the winner.
  4. I am feeling scared. I know it will sound funny but I am mourning the loss of my "old" life. I am actually fantasizing about going to my favorite Chinese buffet just one more time before life as I know it changes. I am also worried what I am going to use instead of food to deal with the stresses of life. So, I think I am ready but it is also scary. And I am HUNGRY! LOL This two protein shake/one meal a day diet is tough! I have been doing it for a week now but there is still two to go. I am excited to get it over with. Of course in the back of my mind is the date...my father passed away on that date in '07 so hopefully he wont be at the gates waiting for me. LOL. I am excited though. It is going to be fun having a totally new life. What about you? What are your fears and thoughts? I am a teacher but I can be a great listener.

    Waiting

Hello, I am on day 7 of 19 yes, I said 19 days of starvation. My surgery is on 4-1-10. I started the pre-op on 3-12. I am so hungry. I am still feeling hungry. I wish that I could be like others I have read on here and not feel hunger anymore. Then it is still a liquid diet for three to four weeks after surgery. I do like the results so far though. Lost almost 15 pounds the first week. From 320.5 to 306. I am really hoping to see 299 at least by surgery day. So...we are all in this together. Let's keep each other motivated.
  7. I started the liquid diet last Friday. UGH...My surgery date is one day after you. Make sure your DR. knows about the prior problem so he or she can be prepared. Yes, the risk is worth it. Or will be when we don't have to have protein shakes two meals a day!
  8. Hey Rita, Dr. Hollis is doing my surgery on 4-1-10. I am excited but I thought that the initial visit with him he used his speech he uses for everyone and that my questions would only slow him down from using his script. Hopefully I am wrong about that and only looking for a reason to be nervous about the surgery. I have been on the pre-op diet for 7 LONG days now and I still have two full weeks to go until the first. Good luck on your "day". Stacey

Ok. sorry I am slow...but if someone could help me I would appreciate it. I have made the ticker, I have it as my signature but I am not sure what to do to get it to show. Can anyone help me? Thank you so much!
  11. I'm on day 7 of 19 days of protien shake diet. I'm starving!!! I have to have two meals as protien shakes and one meal with 4 oz. of protein and green veggies, and one cup of fruit a day. It is not enough, let me tell ya! I started on March 12th and the surgery is April 1st. I am so hungry it's not funny. Many, many times during the day I wonder if it's worth it. Yet, I am plugging along. My bmi was 47 so I guess that's why I had to do the liquid diet so long. I wish I had you guy's doctors! LOL

    Am I the only one?

I told everyone at work so that they would know what was going on. I needed their support in this journey. Of course my husband. I reluctantly told my sister because I didnt want to hear her mouth. Other than that, it's my business. I guess when the weight starts coming off I will be proud to say that I was banded. I am still on the pre-op liquid diet. My surgery is scheduled for 4-1-10. Looking forward to it.

    Anxious

I guess I was lucky. I requested information mid Feb 2010, went to seminar 2-27, had initial consultation, phone psych eval, dr. visit 3-16 to meet the surgeon, and I am scheduled for surgery 4-1-10. Must be fat enough to make them think Im gonna cost them money if they don't do the surgery. I tend to think that it has been so easy because it is the path that God needs me to take so I can be around for my daughters. One is 10 and one is 8. Just keep trying. It will be worth it, I'm sure. Good luck.

    April 2010

We will have to stick together. Are you scared? My heaviest was 337 last September. So yesterday was 306. I am very excited about the surgery but a little scared too. Are you scared or just ready to go? Thanks for the friend request. Doing this together is going to make it much easier.

:rolleyes:I will be having the surgery on April 1st. I started the pre-op diet last Friday, March 12th.(My daughter's 10th b-day) No cake for me! I have two protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and 4oz. of meat and green veggies and one cup of fruit for supper. Lots and lots of water and Crystal Light. I'm HUNGRY! I have to keep telling myself that it is worth it. But at the same time I am a little sad that I am losing my "old life" and getting to eat whatever I want. But, it has to be worth it. I do not remember a time when I was thin but they say it feels pretty good. It better be GREAT to beat an all you can eat Chinese buffet. The emotions are crazy. I am scared, sad, excited and anxious. Sometimes I think I don't wanna do it. Other times I am just ready to get it done. I want to feel full again. lol! By the way, since Friday the 12th I have gone from 320.5 to 306. So just starve and you can get those 10 pounds gone. LOL
