I haven't had my surgery yet, but so far I've been to so many doctors trying to prepare for the lap band...it 's been kind of scary. My BMI is just barely within range for my insurance but I am extremely obese according to all the information I've read. My self esteem has fallen through the floor and I've seen a pulmonoligist who informed me I have asthma. The sleep study has shown that I have sleep apnea...the cardiologist cleared me...my blood pressure is slowly getting higher. In short...I'm at the tipping point and on my way down healthwise.I've been thin before...even after having children. Sadly...the last two babies saw my weight getting higher and higher and I'm one of those "emotional eaters" that doesn't do drugs or drink to handle problems.I even attempted extreme regular exercise and stuck with it long enough for my knees and ankles to let me know that what I thought was possible...and what was a physical reality...are NOT the same things. MRI's and physical therapy later...I'm frustrated. There are only a couple of things left for me to finish up before my surgery: my psych eval and my nutritionist. At present...I am looking to either April or May before my surgery can be done and I can tackle what I have allowed myself to become.
