He's got my vote!!! Always look forward to anything and everything he says! Husband even says, "there's one from your buddy Jack!"

Find something to get you out of your depression!!! Been there...done that. Was feeling down because the scales aren't moving and haven't for over 2 weeks, had some restriction from surgery but that is now gone and I get hungry an hour or two after eating. Was feeling really down and having a continuous pity party! Then this morning was putting clothes away, saw a swimming suit I purchased at the end of the season last year (bought the biggest size which didn't even come close to fitting me!!) and tried it on. OH MY GOSH!!!! I was parading around the house in the thing!!! Husband was laughing and saying that he sure was glad I found something to break the downers!! Guess what I'm saying, like everyone else, is each body is different, your still in a healing phase so take your time, try not to look at the scales! Something else that helps is breaking up the amount you want to lose over the next year into weeks or months. Example....I want to lose 100 pounds the first year, that's 8.3 pounds a month. I've already lost 20 pounds in 6 weeks without a fill! Or another thing....picture in your head that each 3#'s you've lost is another can of Crisco!!!!! I've already lost 6.6 cans of Crisco...uuuugggh! Good luck and my prayers are with ya!

Welcome to our family!! Where were you banded at? How much longer do you have to stay on liquids?
-
Welcome all February bandsters! I was banded January 18th in K.C. by Malley.....if you have any questions feel free to ask. You can ask here or e-mail me. TracyinKs......have you got a surgery date? Was keeping up with you in the January thread but kind of lost touch.....

BabyGotback...That's a wonderful feeling isn't it!!!!!! Two days ago I was standing in the kitchen and my husband was talking about how baggy my jeans were getting, the same ones that a month ago I had to undo to put on my shoes! Well, I got to messing around with them and was able to put my hands in the pockets and pull them down without unzipping!!!!!!!!!! So, even though the scales aren't moving anywhere, the inches are. Now, if I could only find a new use for these underwear and bras that don't fit anymore...........

Welcome to LBT....I'm totally addicted to this website! I live about 50 miles south of K.C. (Archie) and Dr. Malley did my surgery on January 18th at Menorah! If you have any questions just ask away.....sometimes it takes a while but you can always get an answer from someone.

Lisa, This is Lisa that had surgery the same day as you. Glad to see you on here!! Hope you guys are doing good. When do you go in for the next appt.? Mine is February 26th at 1:15. Can't imagine getting a fill right now, after a small saucer of food I'm stuffed....hoping that doesn't change anytime soon!

I was banded January 18, have been on solid foods for 3 days. The scales are driving me crazy!!!! Clothes are fitting better a lot better, rings are loose, watch twists on my arm, people can't beleive how much better I look.......all good things! Problem is, the scales say I'm gaining. Is this happening to anyone else and can anyone explain why a person can lose so many inches but gain weight? Don't even know what to tell as a loss total, it fluctuates from 14 - 20 pounds on any given day!

I was told not to eat over 1 cup of food. The way it was told to me, hard proteins like brisket goes into your stomach, it churns to digest it and that is what's hard on your band and the healing process. Hopefully someone else could explain it more. I had chicken fried steak today with steamed vegies, but only had about 6 bites of each. Personally I would think it would be better to eat smaller amounts more often than to eat two peices of pizza at one time (and might I add I'm a little jealous....would kill for pizza right now!).
-
I usually average 700 - 800 calories and about 40-60 grams of protein. Was released to start hard proteins this weekend so that should help some! I don't keep track of anything on the weekends but am faithful on record keeping during the week. Just know that I should be taking calcium, and a multi-vitamin, just haven't found one I can choke down! Thanks!

I'm 2 weeks post op and can't seem to get enough energy. I feel great, no pain since the day of surgery, except the gas pains! Decided last night I definitely needed to be taking vitamins or something. Got up this morning and tried to crush the "horse pills", mixed it up with pudding....NASTY! Then I had one that was a capsule....dumped it in the pudding.....DOUBLE NASTY! So I resorted back to the gummy vitamins, took two and just can't seem to get them chewed up small enough. What are you guys doing with pills that you took before surgery that are capsules or large caplets?
-
I was released to "anything I want" yesterday and I'm afraid to eat. The entire family seems to be watching every bite I take to see how I'm doing and I'm scared to death to PB or worse! Anyone else scared to eat solid foods? Also has anyone tried something and it wasn't a good idea?
-
35 #'s!!!! That's awesome! I was down 21 pounds from highest.....you blew me out of the water!
-
Yes, and it wasn't painful, just not all that comfortable (wasn't bad either!!!!!) and I was about 10 days post op. If it was me, and the first time with someone, I'd wait until I was 100%. There is enough pressure on a new intimate relationship without putting pain in the equation! Of course this is just my opinion.....husband would say where there's a will, there's a way!!!!
-
I was told that at this stage (from surgery till first fill) that's it's all about learning the bandster rules which means smaller portions, better choices, chewing well, and absolutely no drinks with any meal until 1 hour after meal. It's all about breaking habits and it's a hard one to break! I used to drink a glass of something before, then another during and sipped on another after each meal!

Post-op veggie question
5jacks replied to Big Trouble's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love cauliflower and brocolli......have eaten cauliflower almost every day for the past week. I'm 2 weeks post op and haven't tried brocolli yet but plan to real soon. As for the pain...everyone is different. I haven't needed any pain killers since I woke up from surgery. Don't have a clue where my port even is! My stomach just felt like sore muscles for a day or two. The gas pains weren't much fun but they only lasted for about 4 or 5 days and even that wasn't horrible wrenching pain, just a lot of pressure that was really uncomfortable. But then again, some people don't have that! PB'ing is productive burping....haven't had that either. As for how much to eat, right now I can eat anywhere from 1/2 cup to 1 cup of food, depending on what it is. For lunch today I tried, for the first time, a bean burrito from Taco Bell, ate better than half and decided to quit.....was plenty full and have had no problems yet!! Good luck with making a decision, read the posts on the website, I did for months before I decided to go ahead with the surgery. Ask any and all questions you may have to help you become better informed! -
Insurance requires overnight......was there at 5:45, surgery was at 7:45, saw the clock in the recovery room at 8:50, in room at 9:00. Barium swallow next morning at 9:00 and then home! I felt good enough to go home at 9:00 right after my surgery but it was nice to stay and sleep off the anesthetic....3 kids at home would of made that hard!

I love Great Wolf Lodge in K.C.! I'm sorry you had a bad experience.....sounds like it was just a kid not knowing what to say to me. I weigh over 300 pounds and have been to the Lodge at least 5 or 6 times.....we LOVE it!! The very first time we went, I was so nervous, got to the top of the slides and I very bluntly asked the lifeguard if there would be a problem with me going (went in the tobogan ride with my twin boys!). In my opinion he was really nice, his comment was, "Oh sure, people a lot bigger than you go down all the time." I didn't joke, I just asked a blunt question and he responded. Please give them a second chance.....not all lifeguards are as inexperienced as the one you encountered. Good luck with your surgery!

Welcome Spark! I'm from South of Kansas City....was banded in K.C. on Jan. 18.......got any questions, just send them our way!!!

It's been 12 days since my surgery and on one day I got 900 calories....all the others it's been 500 - 820. I'm afraid that I'm not getting enough to get my metabolism going. The scales haven't moved a whole lot, of course my period is just getting over so maybe that's why the standstill. I'm also going to try and get in an extra protein shake or something to get a few extra calories and some much needed protein. I know what you mean about afraid to try things.....that's why I'm asking other people....if too many say it didn't work, I'm not going there!!!!!
-
Audree, have you tried a tortilla wrap yet? I love Subway and am afraid that is always going to be a no-no, they also have the wraps. Just wondering if since surgery has anyone tried the wraps that fast-food places have?
-
Good luck, and we'll be thinking of ya!

Doing really good except I'm tired a lot. Can't seem to get the calories in that I need or something. I tried eating a bit more for lunch today and my ribs hurt for about 30 minutes afterwards. Doctor said not to worry right now about counting calories but to work on learning to eat properly with the band (chewing well and eating slowly with no liquids). Who would've thought I would ever have a problem with too few calories!!!!
-
Good luck tomorrow.....we'll be thinking of you. Let us know how you're doing when you can!

So, now I'm wondering why they would give me this particular band if it's usually for smaller bellies. I'm over 300 pounds so I shouldn't fall in that category......Anyone got any ideas?!?!?
