It's been awhile since I last wrote here. I have lost 37lbs!!!! I am feeling wonderful. I am getting divorced after 11 years. Don't feel so wonderful about that but I am learning to get up when life knocks you down. I am learning to live with the band, my mind still thinks I can eat whatever but the band really controls my body. I am doing Zumba class daily (almost) and loving it. So, hopefully others are having success, but you still have to work hard. Its not an easy fix but its a fix. Go forth and succeed!:tt2:

 Since I last wrote I have had gall bladder surgery and my 3rd fill. The 3rd fill seems to be the one that gives me the best results. I eat but don't feel like I can go crazy with portions. The funny things is since my gall bladder surgery I have not been able to eat anything greasy or fat filled (which is a good thing I guess) When I eat something which has high fat content I get nauseous, big time. I have lost 4 more lbs and its slow and steady. Still have not mastered the exercise portion of my journey but I will get there. Since my surgery I get winded and tired quickly. So we will see.

My husband bought a meat lover's pizza and some wings (the food industry is against us, they make everything so cheaply now) and I had skipped dinner and was hungry. I decided to eat some of the pizza (toppings only) and 1 hot wing. Another bad decision!!!! I threw it up after 2 minutes and it was not pretty. I had to take nausea medication to calm me down. I had had a particularly bad day (which resulted in me resorting back to bad habits) and felt like I was entitled (insert band here) this thing won't let you cheat. It let's you know who's the boss real quick . Okay I give... You win band! I will follow the rules :tongue_smilie:

 Gosh that sounds awful! Why didn't the doctors give you something for pain???? I am so sorry that happened to you. I was walking down the hallway and felt something funny happen to me. I thought the band had flipped too, almost like a funny bone sensation. But I had it checked and it was okay. Let us know how it goes. I am praying for your safety.

Mother's Day Challenge Anyone?
Cmor2k replied to MommyOf1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I want to try for 15lbs by Mother's Day! Its my birthday on May 21st, my daughter's on May 14th and my Granddaughter on May 11th. I want to see if I can reach that goal by May 9th. -
Dear Renee, All I can tell you is to review your food items, I started by recording every calorie I ate until I got comfortable with my food choices. Also, I found that a little exercise really boosted my weight loss, I was feeling very discouraged like you until I started moving. Good luck and I hope it helps

 I felt no pain with the 2nd fill YAY! I have lost 4lbs since returning from L.A. I am incorporating more exercise into my program. You would be surprised to see the amount of exercise that can impact your weight loss. I climb 7 flights of stairs at the office M-F, on the weekend I just walk about 2.5 miles. It quite easy (for me anyway). You don't have to do insane amounts of exercise just get moving. You can break it up too if you don't have 30 minutes to spare, you can do 10,10 and 10. I am not preaching to anyone, just sharing what I know. I went to a support group meeting and met amazing women and men. Some have lost extreme amounts of weight, 150lbs, 90lbs, 65lbs etc. But the best news for me was seeing folks who had kept it off for 5+ years. That makes me happy:thumbup:. I felt so supported in the group setting. Its a powerful thing.

Exercisie and fatigue.....??
Cmor2k replied to Megg40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
2 weeks???? You need to take at least a month before you start trying to do a lot of activity. Everyone is different but I don't think its unusual for you to be tired. I was tired for the first 5 weeks! Let your body heal, it has been through trauma not to mention you are on far fewer calories than you are used to. Your body needs time to adjust, plus you have to get your head into it too . -
Banded almost 3 months and off course...
Cmor2k replied to tamra.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad I read this post! I was feeling like you, just can just about eat anything (except bread). I kind of lost my way but you guys helped me get back on track. Thanks for posting the information about the 5 day pouch plan. I think I can try that to get me going again. I was banded on 3/8/2010 and have lost about 20lbs pre-op and post-op. -
I don't feel restricted as I thought I would So I am going for a 2nd fill on Saturday, plus a support group meeting. I need to get recharged, my zeal has waned, guess the honeymoon is over. Now the real work begins. I sometimes get the feeling I can feel my band, especially when I drink cold water. It feels like its right under my ribcage YIKES! :scared2: Does anyone else feel this way? I met a lovely woman from Canada who got banded the same day as me. We have shared so many stories, I am blessed to have found her. I want to feel full and satisfied, I don't want to be hungry 2 hours after I eat. Right now I don't know if its my nerves or am I truly hungry. My stomach is growling all the time but that is from the band I think. OH well I guess I will get the hang of this soon, I hope.

Dear Janet, Have been battling depression myself, money worries, taxes you name it. I have not been sleeping well either. But exercise does make me feel better if I can get to the gym or go for a walk. My father had Alzheimers so I feel your pain. Its such a horrible disease. It takes away the person you knew. I will keep encouraging myself and praying. Meditation helps me too. Good luck and keep trying

I thought this would be easier. Somehow I thought the weight would just fall off. I am restricted but their is much work to do. My end of the bargain so to speak. I was travelling away from home and thought I could eat some scrambled eggs and sausage from McDonald's, NOPE! Came right up on the 5th bite. Yuck! I won't be eating that again. Planning is key with this new lifestyle, you have to plan what you will be eating or else. I also have to get moving at the gym. Its hard because I am tired most days. I will get moving today though.

OH you poor thing! I just got my fill yesterday and it was painful . They said it would be like a bee sting! If the bee was carrying a switch blade, ouch!!! She had to poke and prod me around the belly button area and I think she found the port but it was way painful so I feel your pain. As a matter of fact it still hurts today. I told her to mark the spot so if I need another fill she will be able to find it. What is the procedure you are having? And what does it do?
-
I have waited in anticipation for the day of my first fill. It was not a bee sting, it really hurt but I can take it! I layed down on the table and the nurse searched for the port in my belly button. Then she took out this needle and one, two, three ouch! I felt the saline going in, it was a weird sensation. I had no problem drinking water after that. I then went to dinner, had chicken breast, mashed potatoes and grilled veggies. I ate enough to feel satisfied. Overall it was okay. They say you should go 4 to 6 hours without hunger and for the most part that was true for me. I will test this out and see if I need another adjustment. We will see

My kids are visiting me this week and I have taken them out to eat at great places in Chicago. Now mind you I am eating way less than before but I stuck to the plan religiously before they got here and did not lose 1 oz but then they come and I lose 1lb??? Go figure! I guess its the walking around and bowling that helped. I am also trying to stick to the rules, no bread, no water with meals (that is really hard to do), eat the good stuff . I ate pasta, a little, some popcorn and some frozen yogurt. I nibbled on this and that but no where near the crap I used to inhale. I guess the band is doing its job. Now I have to do mine:thumbup: and I get my first fill this week!
