My kids are visiting me this week and I have taken them out to eat at great places in Chicago. Now mind you I am eating way less than before but I stuck to the plan religiously before they got here and did not lose 1 oz but then they come and I lose 1lb??? Go figure! I guess its the walking around and bowling that helped. I am also trying to stick to the rules, no bread, no water with meals (that is really hard to do), eat the good stuff . I ate pasta, a little, some popcorn and some frozen yogurt. I nibbled on this and that but no where near the crap I used to inhale. I guess the band is doing its job. Now I have to do mine:thumbup: and I get my first fill this week!

How long before you loved your Band?
Cmor2k replied to delopez3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I so want to love my band, sometimes I forget I have it in, until I eat something I shouldn't, then I am reminded. The first week I was dropping 1lb a day and now I have not lost anything for 1 week . I get my first fill next week so am looking forward to a new love affair with my band. -
I guess I was so cocky that I thought I was immune to throwing up! So I decided today that I would have some tuna on some 35 calorie bread, right? WRONG!!!! By the third bite I was so violently ill, it felt like there was a little man in my esophogas with a blow torch, burning up my insides. It was so very uncomfortable I would not wish that on my worst enemy! I actually forgot about the lapband principles. No little bites, no chewing up my food, just business as usual. Never Again! Plus I threw it up. It just came up sweet as you please, right in my office thank you very much! I am giving you this detail because I don't want this to happen to you. Please, please follow the rules. Mushy food only! Learn from my mistake.

No I am not! I am glad to live in a country that allows freedom of speech though. And damn proud to be an American (with Healthcare) Thank you very much!

I am totally insane. ashamed to even post here, now

You know what? I feel your pain, trust me! YOu gotta get back on the horse though, you know what I mean? Stop looking so far in the future, try one day at a time. I found this post on another site. It might help - Surgery Is Not a Magic Pill Surgery is not the magic pill we have all been waiting for. You will not wake up thin. You must be willing to meet the band half way. You will lose weight at a different pace than your friends. You must change your behavior for this to work. It is a tool—and nothing more. An electric mixer is easier than mixing by hand but you still have to follow the recipe for the cake to taste good. Right now you should be asking yourself one question—“Am I ready to go the distance?” Good Luck! We are all rooting for you :frown: -
I might be too skinny now

You have to go to tickerfactory.com, set it up and then copy and pasted the codes in your signature line :frown: -
Lap Band and Hunger? Is it right for me?
Cmor2k replied to Lillie24's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I can honestly say as a big eater that I finally have curbed that beast. I have to make myself eat. The problem for me is that I have not taught myself when enough is enough and get that bloated feeling that is uncomfortable. I had a bowl of soup and a smoothie today and the smoothie made me not have room for the soup. Its a learning situation and I will have to learn to listen to my body because the old rules don't apply. My advice is to eat very small portions and wait 20 to 30 minutes before eating more of the same. -
WheW! I thought it was just me - Thanks for your post Jax! I was getting nervous. So for lunch I went to Panera bread and had chicken soup and a smoothie. Wrong move drinking the smoothie with chicken soup. I got too full - oh well live and learn

I literally eat a protein shake in the a.m., bowl of soup or broth for lunch, 2 sf jellos, and tons of water. I have to make myself eat. Food does not hold the fascination it used to for me. I have yet to be filled yet! I am losing 1lb a day on average. Normally I would be estatic but I am worried. If I am losing this much without a fill, what will happen when when the band is filled? Will I starve to death? I am not trying to be overly dramatic but don't want to kid myself either. Don't get me wrong I am happy to have taken this step but don't want other problems. How do other people handle this? What do others eat on the regular? Help! Cathy:ohmy:

is anyone NOT weighing themselves?
Cmor2k replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah I am weighing daily too. It makes me feel like I am doing something. I am losing about a 1 lb a day I think or thereabouts. I just want to lose weight once and for all and keep it off -

Hello everyone. I'm getting banded tomorrow.
Cmor2k replied to caffeine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Pete, No one told me that there was a limit to the amount of fluids you could take in either. I had a little reflux on the 2nd day after surgery when I got over zealous with a Protein Shake. it was in a word, weird. I am going to miss food and I am a great cook. I have to learn how to cook more healthy fare I guess. It amazing to me the amount information we don't know about this. I mean I was and am still sold on the surgery but it kind of freaks me out the on the number of differences in people's experiences. Some had the pre-op diet some people ate mushy food right away. Where does it end? And everyone has different trials and tribulations they must go through. Sometimes I feel weird that I don't have more issues. Maybe its the luck of the draw or maybe I have yet to run into them. I am on this journey and am grateful that this forum is out here for people like us. I so don't want to be an island :scared2: -
Hello everyone. I'm getting banded tomorrow.
Cmor2k replied to caffeine's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Dear Peter, Your post cracks me up! I got banded last Monday (3/8) I don't know what model it is, just know its a lap band. I am more freaked out by what I can and cannot eat. I have lost 10lbs since the surgery. And people that don't know what I have had done are telling me I look skinnier :scared2:. But losing weight was never the issue for me. It was keeping it off. I bet I have lost over 500 lbs in my liftetime. I had a pre-op diet but I cheated on that. I still lost 12lbs though. I am happy it does not hurt to breathe in anymore. Frankly if they did not show me a picture of my stomach with the lapband in place I would not believe it was in. I have had a minimal amount of pain. Getting used to the way to eat is the hardest part for me. And it seems like every other commercial is about food. Plus I live in Chicago now which is a food capital. I used to live in L.A. but it seems like there are tons of places to eat around here. Good luck on your journey. Cathy -
Are you supposed to get in 1000 calories a day? Wow, did not know that, oh well. I guess I have been getting in 800 or 900, no wonder I feel tired. I am working at my desk as well. No psychos today , not yet
-
Dear Joy, Thanks for your words of encouragement. It means a lot  How do you get the ticker thing on your response? Cathy

Hello my name is Cathy and I had my surgery on 3/8/2010. It was so successful if it weren't for the photos to show me my band I would not have believed it. I went in at 7:00am and was walking out the door by 10:00am. The folks at Sychrony were awesome! Dr. Brad really knows his craft! My biggest problem is my fear of food. I am doing the liquid phase and am okay with it. I fear eating solid food, I want to lose this weight once and for all but I want to learn how to eat to live and not live to eat. I am really scared about this aspect of the weight loss plan.

Hello, I had my surgery last Monday (3/8). Things are going quite well. I am still in my liquid phase but its okay. I am not nearly as hungry as I thought I would be. Good luck on your surgery! Cathy:thumbup:

4 Days Post Op... My journey has begun
Cmor2k replied to Taylorx2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello all, I had my surgery last Monday (3/8) and things are going very well. I am okay with the liquid diet, the first 2 days I was really not very hungry. The only thing I would change is not going back to work after 2 days of being off. Not a very good idea. I was sore, I work at my desk, but sitting up all day was challenging. I am mentally scared to eat anything. I have been on shakes and broth and Jello since my surgery. Its been okay but I am getting nervous about eating. -
Post-Op Bandsters - When did or are you going back to work?
Cmor2k replied to gingerjane's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went back to work after 2 days of being off. Bad idea! I should have taken off the week to heal. I was okay but very sore and the meds made me loopy so I should have taken off anyway. -
Okay so I am here at work on the liquid phase after the surgery. My clothes are fitting looser everyday. I find the need to get on the scale every morning (I know its a bad habit) but I need the motivation. I am really scared to eat anything these days. My doctor told me I could eat mushy foods but I just did not feel ready. I tried soft broccoli and mashed potatos but that did not feel good to me. So today I had a banana vanilla optifast shake. That was satisying. I guess I'll have chicken broth for lunch.
