Is anyone from Indiana or from NW Indiana? I am trying to have the lapband done in Merrillville and am wondering if anyone has had theirs done there.

I just sent in my paper work to the hosp that will be doing the lapband surgery and they said that my insurance will cover it, but that they have to go thru the determination process. Does anyone know what that consists of? What am I exactly instore for, besides losing weight and getting my life back? Each step I take with this surgery, I get scared....

How long does it take for you to find out if your insurance will cover the surgery? Do I call and bug the drs office that is doing it? They are supposed to be in the predetermination part of it. Grrrrrrr.....

After you use whatever fills you need the first year, how much is it after that and does your insurance usually cover it?

Help! I am getting no support whatsoever from friends or coworkers, and even some family members. I am in the process of trying to get approved from my insurance company for the lapband. I have been trying to get the best information on this whole thing and have found some very good info on these boards. For awhile, I was dead set on the surgery but friends and coworkers have been giving me all sorts of negative theories. Such as... it is not a forever fix, why do you want something foreign in your body, what if it doesn't work, you can do this by just not eating and just exercising, etc...... I weigh just a little over 250 and I even tried Weight Watchers and cannot stay on that program. I love FOOD!!! What do I do?????????!:think

I am taking your advice for sure, Susan. I will not be discussing anything about this with anyone but you guys on these boards. I need to do this for me and my family, mainly for me and my 6 yr old son.

What should I expect the minute the band gets put on? I am just now trying to get approved for insurance, and I am wondering, if approved and I get the band, will I be in pain at first, will I be sick, etc.....?:nervous

I don't understand what a fill is. I have not had the lapband but I am very interested in having it done. I am trying to get all of the information I can before making my decision. Thanks.

THanks, that helps alot. I noticed where you say you live. My brother in law and sister in law live in Marion, Ky. By the way, have you had the band? I am really serious about getting this done. I am very scared though.
