id like to choke my DH... (D does not mean dear right now) -
hi guys... well i did it, i walked/ran 9 miles today (just to see if i could do it in preparation for the Minnie Marathon in 2 weeks)... i had a relatively OK pace... 16:03 minute mile overall - fastest mile was about 14ish... i need to push harder, but that's another matter... so i did 9.1x miles come home and am STARVING ... like about to gnaw off DH's arm while the Water was boiling. fixed some Pasta for lunch (i've never had a problem with pasta before) made an effort to eat slowly and chew the crap out of my food ... after 3-4 bites or so i was done... it's been stuck ever since (going on 5 hours)... i've PB'd til my throat hurts and i still feel 'stuck', yet im soo hungry... (burned almost 1700 calories during my walk/run and ate 1/2 a bar - 100ish cals - for b'fast)... i'll be on liquids for the rest of the night due to my PB, and i'll take mushies tomorrow. i guess im just typing to type ... anyone else have this happen? thoughts?

well I'm finished... thank god!! it actually washy that bad. my Garmin says I did 9.44 miles in 2:26:29 15:31 pace, 5:26 fastest.. whoda thunk I could go that fast?? my pace until the resorts was under 15/mile, but the boardwalk was hard to run/walk on & pics at epcot slowed me down... I have a couple pics on my blog, more tonight holy crap I did it! -

Addiction - the real reason behind obesity?
losingjusme replied to abckids's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
abc i am so glad you posted this thread. please know that you are far from alone. even being banded, losing 150ish pounds (with lots more to go), i still have a severe food addiction. severe food addiction. right now i am struggling more than i have in a long time, not sure exactly what or why it is, but its happening in a huge way right now. i have been 'food sober' for 2 days now, actually not even that - i bought jellie bellies for my upcoming race yesterday and had a few handfulls - but i was within my WW points range so lets so it was an 'ok' day. not great, but certainly could have been a ton worse. there are even days when i work against my band. the very tool that i had installed to help me - i defy. eating eating eating ... and not always the model bandster and going on liquids after i pb... i eat something until i have to pb, make some room and then eat some more. doesnt sound like a very 'successful bandster'... granted i think that's happened 1 maybe 2 times in 17 months, but its happened. life as i knew it pretty much turned upside down earlier this year, not excusing it, cause it is what it is. but, that didnt help matters. i was one of the lucky ones who was so fat that my surgeon didnt require anything. no sleep apnea testing, no nutritional counseling, no psychological counseling... all i had to do was have my ticker checked to make sure i wasnt goign to croak on the table and i think i had some blood drawn. i like jack's perspective, but its not eating that im addicted to ... eating i dunno - insert something incredibly good for you - SOY - eating soy anything (bleck btw) is incredibly different from eating something really good tasting (to me)... it doesnt even have to be 'bad' for me, i dunno ... chicken thigh (breast too tough)... i just cant eat anything... im a relatively picky eater - always have been - too bad the band didnt help in that area.... PMS for me is a bitch. thankfully, i get so tight right before that i can do liquids only for a day or so... but a shake goes down just fine thank you very much so yeah, do i have a point? i dunno ... just know that you are not alone out there... im literally taking it one meal at a time right now. best of luck to you. -
redgirl, it really all depends on your walk... my guess is in the beginning, it may be enough, but as you lose more and more, you will more than likely need ot ramp it up. find something you like. classes, swimming, dancing, you name it. good luck.

sorry you had so much difficulty with your band. you are right, the band is not for everyone. im sure there have been numerous changes since the 5 years you were banded. i do not understand why your doctor would not remove it. could you explain a bit more please?

i am staying on plan today because ...
losingjusme replied to losingjusme's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i am staying on plan today cause i only have 4 days until the Minnie Marathon. -
when i first started i was about 400 pounds, so much exercise was nearly impossible. started on the treadmill for 5 minutes, next day i went 7, then gradually increased time and then speed then finally incline. i then went to the elliptical machine and bike. about a month after my surgery i started with a personal trainer, still go to one now. now i am training for a marathon in October (Minnie marathon - 15K - is this weekend), i plan to walk/run it ... walk 2 mins/run 1 min or as long as i can.. get out and do it, increase it and challenge yourself. PUSH yourself a tad farther than you think you can go.

Need advise on PS in Dallas Area
losingjusme replied to TxChick50's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
i LOVED my ps!! link is in my sig -
i echo indiogirl's question... what are you eating? everything ... condiments (butter, milk, etc..) also, what are your measurements? have they gone down? what was your starting weight ? if you started out needing to lose 60 pounds, 15 isnt dreadful.

weird slightly gross question
losingjusme replied to MaidMarion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i like the Avenue biker shorts one... if you want SERIOUS strength, i recommend the ones i bought for my post tummy tuck. nouvelleinc.com they will custom make one for you based on your measurements if needed. the negative i found with Spanx is the crotch hole ... not so much. i would not trust myself going to the bathroom through that hole. the PS garment i have has one from front to back. good luck. -
SDSusan (my fave US city, btw...) welcome to LBT
