    when did you start solids?

im sorry, you ate a BIG MAC 4 days after surgery? even pre-band, is that really a great food choice? im sorry if i am coming across harsh, but really. you have a life changing surgery and you eat a BIG MAC for Protein? were there no grilled chicken breasts available? there are also tons of protein shakes on the market. google them, you'll find tons. search for them here and you'll find tons. come on! even if you had the most ignorant surgeon who gave no post op instructions, a big mac? the post op diet is there to ensure your band heals properly and your stitches heal. its not to torture anyone.

So - who actually did damage their band?

Lisa - just remember every doctor is different. unless you are the original poster's band surgeon, i really dont think its good advice to say that she'll be ok... you dont KNOW that.

    HeatherO - great post!!!

So - who actually did damage their band?

in addition ... a band slip isnt going to necessarily happen the first week / month out of surgery if you dont follow the rules, it could take a year or two.
  18. losingjusme

So - who actually did damage their band?

i STRONGLY suggest following your surgeon's pre and post op instructions. they are there for a reason. yes, there are surgeons out there who allow their patients solids sooner (or full liquids, whatever) but who knows what kind of suturing technique their surgeon had, etc. the post op diet is there to HEAL... the more complicated the 'food', the more your stomach has to work to digest it - yes, even full liquids. the more your stomach moves, the less time the sutures have to heal and set your band into place. of course, i could talk until i'm blue in the face. people are goign to do what they want to do, but - as i said - i strongly discourage it.
  19. me neither ... i thank my band every day for SO much ... now i add the baby to the list.

    Salsa's Summer Surgery!

Salsa, that is scary. sorry that happened. keep us posted on what the doctor says. is there a juice place near you (like Jamba Juice?) those are quite high in cals and you can have protein added.

i hate it when people post those huge fugly gawd-awful smilies ... the ones from that free smily site ... with that huge ad at the bottom of thier sigs...
  22. im rather curious as well.
  23. losingjusme

    so depressed

1/2 cup a day sounds dangerously low. not sure how you could get all the necessary nutrients in. liquid cals should pretty much be your last resort. i agree with finding a new nutritionist, one that actually listens to you. maybe find a mentor here - a successful bandster who has followed the bandster rules and is doing well - PM me if you would like a few suggestions. keep at it, best of luck to you!
