What did you feel when you awoke from surgery?
losingjusme replied to luv2bingo07's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
well i was on the table for over 3 hours (i had MAJOR scar tissue issues from my 'zipper' gall bladder scar)... the first words out of my mouth - "My butt hurts" ... those OR tables are not designed to be flat on your back/butt for over 10 minutes much less 3 hrs!! 2nd phrase - get this out of my nose. apparently i am a cranky bitch when under ... i am very very lucky i had no gas pains ... SO very lucky and thank God for that cause i am such a wimp. -
Goodbye, it's been a slice, but I hope I never see you again....

i was thin until i hit about 6ish... i was then fed mayo sandwiches on white bread as a snack from my mom... couple years later, she is wondering what is really making me pack on the pounds - gee - i wonder?? i was taken to a nutritionist at about 8 or 9 years old, did weight watchers in high school (i know i was under 180), did nutrisystem when i was at 180 after high school. i wanted to get to 140. HA - now i'd love to be 180, in fact it's my goal. i have progressively gone up and up until i hit about 420 a year or so ago, dropped down to 400ish (a kid will help in that area!!!) and my pre op weight was 402.5. i am lucky, i've dropped about 80 pounds so far, but i have a very long way to go...

i tried the ready to drink (RTD) this weekend as well and was not impressed with it at all... i have the powder and drink it w/ 12 oz of skim milk and usually throw it in the freezer for about 10 minutes so it is really cold. maybe if you throw the RTD in the freezer for a little bit beforehand???

"they" say you replace one 'compulsive' behaviour (eating) with another (exercising, etc ...) i am not sure if that would be the case with me or not. yes, i do work out pretty much every day for 30 - 45 mins. i do use myfooddiary.com to track my cals because i was so low in cals for awhile (under 800 / day) that my body was holding on to everything and i wasnt losing. it took a lot to get thru my (very thick) head that in order to lose i need to consume cals... i am at optimal restriction now ... eat 4-5 bites and i am finished so i need to up the cals some how... i chose muscle milk and so far it is working very well. i have lost about 6 1/8 pounds since starting it on 2/5 and have already noticed the inches dropping a little bit... but everyone is different, you need to do what works for you... i 'reward' myself for working out by hopping on the scale.. is this obsessive? i dont really think so... i've been fat / obese / super obese my entire life. i finally have the tool to help me get the weight off and i am going to do all within my power to get rid of the weight as soon as possible.

**shrug** it seems to be working pretty well for me (banded on 09Oct06 and lost 80 pounds), but to each their own.

i would ONLY drink muscle milk if you are having an absolute kick ass workout schedule. yes, it does have quite a few cals / fats. i did the isopure right after surgery and got very tired of the 'kool aid' taste.... below is the nutritional info for 2 scoops. this is without the milk i mix it in (skim) Cals 348 cals / fat 162 total fat 18g sat fat 8g carb 12g diet Fiber <2g sugar 6g Protein 32g like i said i only drink it when i know i will work out for at least 1/2 hour and burn at least 500 cals. it is still way too early to see if my "test" is working. i am going to give it a total of a month to see what happens not only to my weight but to inches because this does aid in the muscle building and we all know muscle weighs more than fat. so far i've lost 4 3/4 pound in the first week. not too bad.

hi alicat, I have been drinking it since last week. i primarily use it to get more calories in me. since i am working out, i had to up my cals and that does the trick. i did lose 4 3/4 pounds last week, not sure if that had any affect or not. one thing i make sure - if i do drink it i have to work out that day, it adds about 400 calories to my day and if i dont burn it off i will more than likely gain. i have tried Peanut Butter / chocolate and like that one and banana Creme. i do not really care for the banana creme too much. i will drink it (cause its kind of expensive) but will not reorder it. i have found it cheapest on Amazon - under 20 for 2+ pounds.

Great job Jimboss!!

Something's Wrong!!!!!!!!!!!!!
losingjusme replied to jordancassandra's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
what's wrong with eating a sandwich? I have one every once in awhile. it may be on 1 piece of bread toasted and sliced in half, but its still a sandwich. -
Has this happened to anyone else?
losingjusme replied to alicat3924's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i know for a FACT that if you are working out you need quite a few more calories. i burn 5-900 cals per day i work out and i have to consume an additional 3-500 cals at least. what is working for me is the muscle milk mixed w/ skim milk. it tastes pretty good and gives me about 400 extra calories. i drink it about an hour or so before i work out . then as i am driving home and i really dont want to work out, that pushes me to go because i just drank 400 calories!! i started muscle milk last week and i was down 4 3/4 pounds. i worked out 6 of the 7 days last week anywhere from 500 - 800 cals. i also keep track of everything i consume on myfooddiary.com. it costs about 10 dollars a month but is SO worth it! -
old habits died a hard hard death tonight. i've been banded 4 months and tonight was my first PB.. we went for pizza. i wasnt too hungry, but i had some bread. just a tad bit of tightness in my chest. i was fine... waited about 10 mins for the pizza. first piece, no problem. i commented to DH that i get sooo hungry later in the evening that i am just going to eat 1 more piece. less than half way thru that piece, i get more of a tightness... hmmm ... better slow down a bit. i take a nice big gulp of tea (i normally do not drink with my meals but since i worked out right before dinner i was SO thirsty).. major tightness ... MAJOR tightness. i put my arms up (read that somewhere)... still tight in the chest. burp a little bit. rush to the bathroom, cannot even think about even closing the door and or locking it ... it wasnt THAT bad but i dont want it to happen again ... so now what? am i on liquids for a day or so??
